Ionic not working

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So this morning I got up and everything was working fine with the watch, went downstairs to watch some TV. At some point I checked it, and the screen would not come on. It continues to be unresponsive to any button press and the screen was black (off). Resets do not work, neither the two or three button press combos even get the logo to appear. I put it on the charger all morning but still no response on the button press.

This is happened as far as I can tell not related to any use, it just died. Any troubleshooting ideas? I’ve had it 13 months so of course the warranty just expired.

No matter what I said or did, Fitbit was firm that they wouldn't help me.  They don't care about their customers.  The only thing I can do now is try to spread the word to everyone I know not to waste their money on a Fitbit.  I really miss mine but am not throwing away more money on an expensive but disposable watch.  So disappointed.

Hello guys, it's a pleasure to continue providing assistance with the inconveniences experienced with your Ionic devices, sorry for the delay in responding your posts.

I want to thank all of you for the time you took to share your thoughts and experience with us regarding our Ionic device and our Customer Support team, your feedback and comments always help us to improve our products and services. If any of you haven't already done so, please follow the steps from our help article: Why isn't my battery charging on my Fitbit device? which also include our restart process. Then, please try our factory reset process following the next steps:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

As a friendly reminder, you can always check our Returns and Warranty policies to understand better the response from our Support Team.for any warranty-related reply and contact them back if you have any additional questions in regards their replies.

I'll be here.

What a useless reply. We've all already done those steps.

Did you even read the posts? We all have dead watches. We know how to
reset but that won't help a dead watch. We are all just slight past our
warranty so there is nothing Fitbit will do to help us. Please take the
time to understand the comments before you give us unhelpful advice.

the Sam happened to me and after reading the threads it looks like there was an update that killed our devices. Fitbit needs to provide a way to get the devices back on or replace them.

My ionic suddenly died as well about 18 months old. Would still hold charge for 4-5 days and was at 68% at 338 this am when I synced it last

Exact same situation... in fact, mine sync'd at 6:08a this morning and reported back that it was at 100% charge (it was on the charger). Went to put it on at 6:30a and it was completely bricked. Customer Service couldn't care less.

I have just got the same problem I was sitting down (my ionic was working fine at the time) talking with people then I took the watch off before bed then the next day I woke up and I tried to turn it on and nothing happend then I tried charging and resetting it over and over but there it still no sign of life. I have had the thing for about 18 months and I loved the thing, it worked great until it just stopped working after the warranty was gone.

I bet they are bricking them and pushing the new versa 2? They gave me 25% off another fitbit. Not happy and told them I want to speak to someone else

I guess what irks me the most is Fitbit’s responses miss the point entirely. This was not normal wear and tear- I have taken excellent care of my Ionic for the 13 months since I received it as a gift. Their update bricked my device by making it not even able to turn on. That’s the difference- their actions destroyed my property. It would be no different than if they sent someone to my house to smash it with a hammer. The “solution” of being offered the opportunity to buy a new one-from them-is laughable and does not make sense since they ruined my device with the update.

Exactly! I was sitting in car looked at time and seconds later tried checking weather and got nothing

When I was on the phone with them, they kept trying to steer my complaint to “battery not holding a charge.”  Not the case. Like you, I took very good care of my watch. It was holding a 4-6 day charge. It sync’d and was fully charged one second, bricked the next.

I have had 2 fail in less than a week.

Yes trying to pass it off as bad battery! Gotta say I’m really impressed at how well the battery lasted. This was like my fifth and probably last Fitbit after this. Lady on phone almost immediately tried selling me versa 2 without even trying to help figure out my perfectly fine device died suddenly along with hundreds of others

Mine suddenly started working after trying restart on way to recycling bin

Best Answer

Care to elaborate how you woke it up?

I have the same problem, and have had it 13 months, haven't been able to use it for a month now.

I have charged it, tried all buttons and forced reset, won't sync to my phone nothing can pick it up prior to that I needed to update it but it wouldn't let me do the update!

I was just reading it online. I'll look for it, but I think I got there by
another post link.
