Are there any concerns with showering with the ionic?

Not that I’ve heard, no. Water resistance to 50m should be sufficient for the job.

It says it can go to 50 meters (164 feet) which is pretty deep so a shower should be fine. However, there are people out there that have noticed a flaw in some of the devices. The screen is off and you have to look close to see the difference. Those who have noticed this issue have also had problems with the water proofing of it. You can search the Ionic board to find the issue with the devices that are having issues. The screens seem to be off or tilted if you look closely. Mine was not and I have not had any issues, but i have not showered with mine. I had the Blaze and always took it off before showering.

That’s reasonable since the Blaze isn’t water resistant at all.

My only concern with wearing the Ionic in the shower is having soap or shampoo get into the watch. That would ruin it.

I take mine swimming 3 times a week for around 30 mins a go and have done for the last 3 weeks - no sign of water ingress so unless you have insanely long showers with a car jet-wash I don't think you'll get any liquid in the device where it can't get out easily. (I shower with mine too)

I shower with mine and it's fine, but the water hitting it does sometimes activate the touch screen. I figured if it did get any water or shampoo in it it get a replacement under warranty, since it's sold as waterproof.

Shampoo or soap should not get in so I dont worry about it. As @SaraJayne says, if soap does get in it means the waterproofing has failed so warantee steps in.
@Sports-lover i take it off after I have got it very wet and dry the watch and my arm - this is more to prevent skin problems under the watch than for thw benefit of the Ionic! Though the HR sensors do get obscured if there is a grot on them so do need wiping from time to time

I don't know about swimming, as I have never done it with the Ionic. However, I can personally attest to the fact that you don't need to dry it after being in the rain or washing your hands: I have a job where I am constantly washing my hands and have never had an issue with it and wearing the Ionic. I've also worn it in the rain with the same result.

Water Resistant 50 Meters / 5 Atmospheres / 5 Bar
So you've got a watch with 50 meters of water resistance. Congratulations, you are hereby allowed to swim with it. However, you should minimize exposure to the water and probably still take it off. And by no means whatsoever should you dive with your watch. 50 meters of depth will not do it any favors.

Display in my Ionic got damaged during shower. Before that, my Ionic survived several swims in the pool. Despite Fitbit claims you can shower with Ionic I don't do it anymore. I don't even trust its "waterproofness" when cleaning it.

@KernKnight that's fine but then as a manufacturer, you wouldn't say that you can simply shower with the Ionic. Fitbit did. Users can't be blamed for doing something that not only isn't prohibited but also allowed. If it says that you can shower with Ionic then you can - that's a user's perspective. There is no mentioning of temperature, pressure, condensation - nothing. It's a simple a few words statement.
