Hello @Shellcon, welcome to the Community Forums!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention and for troubleshooting your Ionic before posting. To better assist you with this, can you please let me know if the heart rate sensors of your device are still flashing or is it completely unresponsive and only showing the Fitbit logo? Since the restart process didn't resolve this, please try the following steps to perform a factory reset on your device:

  1. On the device, hold all three buttons for about 10 to 12 seconds.
  2. When the Fitbit logo disappears, quickly release the bottom right button, continuing to hold down the left and top right buttons (releasing the bottom right button as soon as the logo disappears is time sensitive).
  3. When the device vibrates, release all buttons.
  4. Wait for approximately 1-2 minutes while the device clears all data. Eventually, the Fitbit logo appears and the device boots and displays Fitbit.com/setup.
  5. When the device successfully resets, please use the normal out of the box process of updating the firmware. You can check: How do I update my Fitbit device? for more details.

Take in consideration that a factory reset deletes any stored data, which includes all data that hasn't synced to your Fitbit account and your applications, alarms, etc.

I'll be here if you need further assistance. Keep me posted.

Thank you for your help...I followed all the instructions but I'm afraid it came back with

A large red X  data not cleared sync & try again

I tried it all again but again it came back with the same message 🙈

Your update is appreciated @Shellcon.

The red X that is shown on your Ionic device after you complete the factory reset is because the firmware update process was not completed. That said, I recommend you to learn more about how to update the firmware version of your Fitbit device with the information that's specified on this help article. Then, please move forward to the troubleshooting steps that are specified on: Why can't I update my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes.

Looking forward to your reply if further assistance is needed.

Sorry Ricardo are you saying that I need to go through the steps you sent me again?

I hadn't done a firmware update before it got stuck in the loop...now my watch is on a red X because after the steps I was asked to take....sorry I just want to get this correct....isn't the same steps?

My issues started on Sunday, March, 8.  At first the touchscreen was not responsive and very dim.  I  force restarted and it worked for about 5 minutes.  After repeating this cycle for about 5 times, I did a factory reset.  At that time the firmware update appeared.  I’ve updated but then started having issues with that Logo.  I had to press all three buttons to get it to shutdown and restart properly.  It has been going back to that logo all day..  The past hour, ok but I’m not confident.  Fitbit support says I can get a 25% discount on a new device.  I’m just not convinced it is a hardware problem.  Everything was fine until Sunday.  Also, that auto brightness thing ain’t working.  It is always dim, which was  one of the issues that started on Sunday before resetting and updating.

I saw this on another post.  I don't know how to share a post.

Unfortunately you'll need to factory reset to recover.

  1. Remove the Ionic from your account.
  2. Delete the bluetooth pairing.
  3. Press and hold all buttons on the device.
  4. Wait until the Fitbit logo disappears, then release the bottom right button.
  5. Wait until you feel a vibration, then release the other buttons.
  6. You will probably see a red X message, just ignore that and setup the device again.

I actually did this myself on Friday, so I feel your pain. I will be raising this issue with the firmware engineers.

Mine seems to be okay for now.  I did press all three buttons to get to the home screen and reboot several times, possibly incorrectly.  I was going to the settings-about-shut down.  The back button and the lower right button held simultaneously until the logo appears restarts it.
