Ionic stopped working after 13 months

Bought my Ionic on 6-21-19 after my Charge died after around 18 months.  So, I've spent around $500 with Fitbit in less than 3 years, and once again I don't have a working fitness watch.  Y'all keep on posting to the community, spending hours researching, updating, working on why your Fitbit still isn't working, not charging, display dies, won't hold a charge, etc etc etc.  I'll save my time in the future (and my money) by not having another Fitbit.  If there's one thing I've learned in my 63 years, it's that it's a whole lot easier to eliminate aggravations from my life than it is to count on someone else (especially when it's a company instead of an actual person that can be reasoned with) to solve my problems.  I'm done - peace out!

I’m having the same issue. Won’t charge or turn on. Really upset

I uninstalled the app from my phone, left it off for 3-4 days, and then
downloaded it again. Signed on, it sync’ed to my Ionic, and has been fine
since. Actually, my Ionic seems to have worked fine since I uninstalled
the app from my phone. Maybe I got lucky.....don’t know for sure what
fixed it.

Nothing is working. It simply won’t charge AT ALL. Hoping Fitbit offers a
replacement for faulty products!

I've got my Ionic from my husband after (he did a very long research)last year for my 35th birthday, so it been 13 months that I was using it. As an professional athlete I was very satisfied with it but lately every once in a while something was wrong with it, untill it finaly died, won't charge , won't reboot...nothnig is happening. It seems that from Europe (Croatia) it is so hard to find a solution and I am very frustrated bout it since I can't use it for more than month now, I am even thinking to go out in media with this issue because all I can see is people complaining about Fitbit in general.

@booniesnag hi, is what you did something that FitBit support team reccomended or you just did it by yourself?

I tried EVERYTHING Fitbit support suggested. In the last reply from them they said they would have support contact me. Support sent me an email suggesting everything I had already done. Very very very poor customer support. Can’t believe they wouldn’t have already read that I had tried all posted solutions.

I am in the same boat. My Ionic just wouldn't charge. I cleaned it and did everything I could think of and read up on and so after awhile I went with out. Because I wasn't wearing a watch, my wife decided to buy me something as a gift. An Ionic. I am hoping that the second time is the charm.

Yep, bought my ionic 7/2/2019, died last week. 13 months. Out of warranty I’m told nothing they can do!
Going with Apple, I’ll never purchase another Fitbit device and I will tell everyone I know what poor quality and customer service they have!

My solution: I had a similar issue after 17 months. Battery was fully charged. Firmware updated two weeks earlier. I shut down my fitbit, but after that it would not start. I tried everything from what i found in various advices. But then in desperation pressed and held all 3 buttons simultaniously, and it started again!

Dear Silvia and all the others reading this post that had or have same issue as me. I got contacted form FITBIT customer service by email and I got offered an replacement for my IONIC. So today is being shipped to Croatia(Europe), not sure but I think in Europe we have 2 years warranty by the EU law, maybe this why I've been given a replacement.  They were really kind, hope this might help to all of you.

I am having the EXACT same issues as everyone else except I have owned my Ionic less than a year. Have tried all the listed troubleshooting tips and still nothing. I loved this watch until it up and died. Don’t want to have to spend more money and move to Apple.

we have the ionic special. edition Adidas, and it was connected to power when it charged.

We have tried to restart, but it will not respond at all. We have done all the troubleshooting advice. In Norway, we have a 5 year complaint, especially when the unit is so expensive and it only happens when we were told to upgrade. I have now contacted a store in Oslo, Norway, which is a supplier to Fitbit to register the complaint.

I have bought many Fitbits since 2015, this is the same nonsense I had with Blaze.

I will not give up this time. I will take my complaint further against in Norway. There are Fitbit groups in Norway talking about the upgrade to Fitbit being similar to what Appel did some time ago for which they were sued. Appel sent out upgrades that shut down older Appel products. And I am wondering ....as I see all the complaints in this community about upgrading Ionic this year.....

Thanks for the information. I hate buying things that only have a one year
warranty, but that’s pretty standard in the USA. To me, it sends a message
that the manufacturer doesn’t have a high level of confidence in their
product, but it also gives them the opportunity to sell people ANOTHER ONE
in a little over a year. But not this guy - like I said in my post, I’m
done.
