Ionic stopped working - feedback

So I got my Ionic last September and all was good, although the distance measured against Runkeeper/Strava was always out....but that isn't the biggest headache.

Just coming up to its 1 year anniversary I was swimming, like always and it cut out, died.  So I returned it and got a replacement...all great...or so I thought....since Sept I am now awaiting my 5th replacement....all due to the same/similar issues.....shorting out, overheating then dying.....which is now impacting my training.

The fitbit support team have tried to be helpful but all I have been offered if another Ionic, which will no doubt need to go back or 50% off another Fitbit product....why would I would I want to now spend even more money......

Anyone else had similar pains!?

@RobP1978 Thanks for stopping by. I appreciate the time you took to share your experience with Ionic.

Thanks for your feedback regarding Fitbit devices quality. It is particularly difficult when the device is no longer covered by the warranty, but even though Support is eager to help with any problem you may experience with the product, they do need to adhere to the official warranty policy, this would start counting from the original date of purchase.

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.

It’s convenient how just under a year after purchase your devices start to fail, then every replacement I’ve had had failed - 4 in 6 weeks.  Not fit for purpose.  It’s actually impacted my training schedule and I’m looking at an alternative device from someone that a) gives a good product and b) give the support with it

Please let us know what you end up getting.

I am looking for an alternative device if the issues with my Ionic "turn out not to be fixable". The one/two year lifespan of Fitbits is really starting to get on my nerves and if they try the "have X % off another ___ Fitbit device" gambit on me then I'm jumping ship and telling all of my friends/family about this as well.

I have experienced similar problems.  My first Fitbit, can’t even remember the model, died after a year; stopped charging.  A couple years later I purchased the surge and that too died, stopped charging after 8 months.  Following I purchased the ionic for $300.  It worked well for about 8 months before it started to die in less than 24 hours.  For $300 I expect the product to last more than months.  The device works great when it works but at this rate, I do not see myself purchasing another Fitbit product.  I’ve contacted customer service and they advised me to call back after fully charging the ionic and syncing five times a day-ridiculous because by the time I remember to sync, it’s dead or I forget to sync five times before it dies!!  I’ve spent more than $550 on Fitbit products and the reality is, had my child’s video game systems for nearly the same price stopped working at nearly the same rate as the Fitbit products, the game wouldn’t get replaced.  Until Fitbit fixes the issues or allow customers a better warranty option, I will not repurchase.
