Ok this is the last chance for my fitbit...
Had for over a year and love the app, heart rate, sleep and step counting. However when it comes to exercise...?
Last 3 weeks
a) 12 miles into a bike ride the screen went blank. I had been monitoring the stats til then and didn't hit any buttons. I tried holding two buttons to reset and it then showed '0%' in red. I tried resetting again and it restarted showing the logo. I started the bike ride tracking on the ionic again and it tracked the last bit. Very annoying. Then 4 days later the bike run turns up in my stats but with 4400 mins as the duration and the 12.35 miles done til the blavk screen. Battery was 90% at start.
b) runs in last few weeks have regularly stopped part way through a run. Black screen appears, '0% ' in red, try resetting again and logo appears them clock face ( as abpve). Started run exercise on ionic again. Few mins later went to black screen again. This time I can't get it to restart. Get home and when I sync it shows the first distance and short second distance. Unacceptable.
So...can this be fixed?. I am meant to be exercising not worrying if my watch is working.
Fast coming to the conclusion that i just use my phone for recording runs and bike rides and then manually add them to fitbit.
If I had known it could do exercise I could have saved the money and stuck with my charge 2!!

Hey Andrea, were they working on this issue yesterday? I attempted to start the swim app multiple to times and it kept going back to the main screen. So I tried the exercise app multiple times and it did the same thing. So I just started my workout and eventually the swim app started working. (Have to admit I was pretty upset when it wouldn't start.) If this happens again what can I do?
Thanks

Thanks for getting back to us and for your question @A5kil3s. I'm sorry that this made you upset, our team is still working to fix this issue.
What I would recommend if you´re not able to start your exercise is trying to restart your Ionic. If this doesn't work you can manually register your activity.
Keep on visiting the forums.

I just bought an Ionic and can't seem to track ANY exercise. I have tried with running and aerobic workouts several times in the past week and it starts and then just isn't there.
How do I know if the GPS is working when I run if it isn't tracking the exercise?

@AndreaFitbit you are saying that with 3.0 release the issue is not solved? It has been couple of months! What's the point of releasing major version of OS and carrying over the critical issue? Maybe Fitbit engineers should focus on fixing what's broken rather than developing features which nobody needs. Users need reliable product at first. Everything else comes second.

I apologize for my delayed response and thank you for your feedback @SunsetRunner. Our team works to fix current issues but at this time I don´t have an estimated date on when exercise stopping will be fixed.
I appreciate your comments and the time to took to express them.
Keep on visiting the forums.

I have experienced this today. While using the exercise function on the ionic to track my run using GPS etc the screen went blank and fitbit icon appeared i.e. it crashed and reset. So annoying that my run was not tracked properly. Logging a run manually will not capture the distance because you don't know how far you have run. This is the point of using exercise and gps so the watch works this out. Are they any closer to a fix for this? It seems to have been going on for months. It doesn't sound like the engineers are properly focusing on this?

Hi. I have a similar issue. Twice in the past week when taking walks the exercise monitor switches to pause. So an 8 mile walk stopped recording after 6 miles (I know this because I was walking a circular route and the map just stops 2 miles from home). This happened again- stopped after 3/4 of my walk. Very disappointed. How can I trust Jun fitbit Ionic now? Thanks

Please don’t just say keep revisiting the forum or that the team is working on it. I upgraded to an Ionic for this feature specifically. If this doesn’t get fixed I hope that all marketing communications stop talking of it as a feature.

I purchased an Ionic at the end of January and it just started having this issue this week. I start a run (outdoor and inside) and after a short time, it resets and I have to start the workout all over again and it doesn't capture the previous session. On the last outdoor run, I had gone half a mile when it stopped. I see that this is a known issue but it doesn't seem to be something that is being fixed since it has been a known issue for a very long time. This is very frustrating because the whole point of the Fitbit is to track my workouts for me so I don't have to do it manually. Please let me know when this will be fixed. I enjoyed my previous Fitbit (The Blaze) and am wondering if I made the right decision purchasing the Ionic.

Hi Andrea, DO you have any updates to this issue? It seems to continue to happen to me - at least once weekly. (I am trying to be patient, but I am starting to get a little annoyed when it happens.)
Do they know the reason why? Is there any steps I should be taking so that it does not do it to me?
Thanks,
Amy

Mine has begun to do the same thing. Yesterday it was working fine while on weights. I was doing heavy squats and regularly checked my hr. So I know I was pushing data . When I was finished, I ended the workout on the watch and got ready for my run. Used watch app again as usual once outside and picked run as my type. Everything was fine . After my run I went into to get the stats for the other app I use and I had lots of errors .on the exercise screen, I shows correct data in the summary but the map for the run is only partially there . On the detail, it says I ran for 9 minutes. It was actually 25. Data shows uniterrupted on the hr tracking section, so it wasn't not tracking hr. It quit tracking gps when I paused to tie shoe laces. Even though I unpaused, it didn't track anymore via gps .It did continue the time though. Weird. My total weights data was 0 minutes and 0 calories in everywhere except the dashboard. It did calculate into my daily numbers .it's super odd .It does not make any sense why it would be partially syncing.

Andrea, it looks like people are still looking for a fix. This issue was reported in this thread, November 2018. almost 9 months ago.
This is a device meant to track activities and it cannot do so reliably. Please tell me why we should be patient and keep checking the forums.
This should be a Priority #1 issue if you can't handle your primary use case reliably.
Please provide more info than "this is an issue that our team is working on". Is there a fix? Is that fix on a release roadmap?
I am currently recommending friends and family do NOT purchase Fitbit products due to your inability to fix this issue.

This is not solved. It is a problem affecting a lot of users and I've just had a 1.5 hour chat session to be told there is no estimate for when the bug will be fixed by their "top developers" with no estimated time for the fix to happen. Why does it need developers for a commercial product on the market. The if it was a TV or computer this would not happen. The come in fitbit, and get this sorted out. I have the problem with a replacement device for my last one that just died on me under warranty. Had it 6 days and it won't track my hiking. What will you do about this please? And how urgent is it really?

Just posted about this. I wanted a refund just they said they can't as its a software issue that can be fixed. When? It seems to be a longstanding issue. Why don't they care about the reputation of fitbit. Just making money then. Such a shame as I have enjoyed using fitbit for several year but I may not want to anymore and will not be recommendung them as their are so many other options on the market now.

I just gave up on the watch and bought a different brand watch. Won't buy another Fitbit again. Very disappointed with them.
