Ionic stops tracking exercises during workout

Lately my Ionic has stopped tracking exercises during my workout. The data during the exercise that is being tracked before it stops isn't logged as a exercise. This starting happening after the last update. I have reset the tracker a few times and even turned it off and back on again, still does it.

Mine has dropped workouts 3 times this past week.  The first two times it completely turned off and was on the fitbit logo startup on the watch face.  Today it stopped my workout but didn't turn off.  I reported it Monday and all they told me was I was charging it wrong and recommended I charge on another outlet or USB in the computer.  I did that last night.  Today after it dropped it again I messaged back and referred to the case number they gave me Monday.  Now it's a "Fitbit knows there is a software problem that only affects certain Ionic users.  Please do a factory reset and it will be updated with a fix as soon as we develop one."  That's a big difference from a battery recharge suggestion to a "we know if and will fix it when we figure out what to do" solution.  $300.00 fitness tracker. Yeah. I miss my Surge.  It worked so well.

I returned my Ionic to fitbit, and they sent me a new device. I don't know
why I (or they) thought it would work any better. On my very first try, a 9
mile run, it stopped working at mile 4. The device simply does not work as
billed and probably never will. Customer support is totally useless. I am
contacting the Better Business Bureau for what good that will do. I've
exhausted all options with fitbit.

I've had my Ionic for about 2 months now.  Upgraded from Fitbit Blaze.  Started having this issue a couple weeks ago and is getting progressively worse.  Happened this morning 40 or so minutes into a great workout it cuts to black.  When it comes back on it has not tracked my workout. BEYOND FRUSTRATING!!!!  After a good workout I should feel relaxed and accomplished, instead I'm upset and irritated because my Fitbit that I spent almost $200 dollars on stopped tracking, now I can't compare my workouts to see if I've improved.  What's worse is Fitbit knows this is an issue and has done NOTHING about it!  If you can't get your software to be reliable, at least add an option to go in and select a period of time to mark as a workout so at least users can retroactively see the avg./ max heart rate, miles, steps, calories burned, etc. for a workout.

I'm literally thinking of wearing both my Ionic and my old Polar heart rate monitor for exercise.  I'm so tired of Fitbit's wonky tracker issues.  Looking into trying a new brand after this, I'm so aggravated!

Exactly the same thing happens to me. I check to see it's started and I check to see that it's found GPS and shows my speed (it also vibrates when it does this) and then I start cycling. Now I know it was recording because I checked several times my speed as was cycling. I even felt it vibrate to pause the recording whilst I checked a map, and then it vibrated again to start recording whilst I started cycling. At some point I checked for my speed again and it was just back on the normal clock and there's no record of what was recorded 😡. So I started recording again and it's synched that last 1/3 of my ride. I'm gutted as I took a new route and really wanted to know my track, speed, heart rate etc. My ride was 1.5 hours long. I've had issues with other rides only 30 mins long. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it works fine. I just don't get it. Maybe as I stood up to peddle up hills one of the buttons could have been pressed, but this is a design flaw if it switches it off whilst you've told it to record your exercise. I'm frustrated as this is an expensive watch!

After months of back-and-forth with Fitbit on all the same issues with my
Ionic, they (or their warranty company) did the right thing and refunded my
money after i returned the watch (the replacement watch, actually, fitbit
thinking that would be the fix for the initial Ionic). It was a frustrating
period of back-and-forth but Fitbit's refund helped to restore some loyalty.

Yeah ever since I was more mindful of pressing the pause and other button
together I haven't had much problem.

This has been happening to me with my Ionic for months now as well. Going to request a refund because this is ridiculous.

I have had exactly the same problem, it only started happening recently.  At first I thought it was something that I had done wrong but, it appears that a lot of users are having the same problem.

Come on Fitbit sort it out for all users!
