Ionic stuck on 0% and won't charge

My ionic was working great and then the battery died the other day. I plugged it in to charge and came back a few hours later and it still says 0% when you press a button. It has now been on charge for 3 days and still says 0%. I have tried wall chargers and running it off the laptop USB but still nothing! I can't reset or do anything as there is no battery life! Help!

Wow.  Thank you, that worked!  Tech support should add this to their list of 'things to try'.  I appreciate you posting this solution.

try what Onemoardave suggested:

"I was doing the  hard reset (left and right buttons pressed at the same time) and nothing happened

I turned Bluetooth off on my phone, did a few more attempts at the reset, and then put the watch down again as nothing was happening. Five or so minutes later it flashes up and is now charging again

I attribute it to just turning the Bluetooth off after skimming through other responses"

Hi there...my ionic started to do this last night. It’s stuck on 0%. Ive tried to shut off and restart but it won’t let me. I’ve tried  to charge via wall and PC. I cannot get into phone to restart in settings. Please can you help.

My Ionic started doing this last night. I plug it into the charging cord and all it shows on the screen is 0% in red. I unplugged it and tried a hard reset by holding all three buttons down. It flashes for a moment and goes right back to the 0% screen. I tried turning off Bluetooth on my phone and doing another reset, but that didn't help either.

Ok, I got it to start charging again by cleaning the contacts with some rubbing alcohol and a clean rag.

Hi @AndreaFitbit,

unfortunately I’m getting the same result. It’s constantly states 0%. I’ve tried recharging using different USB ports. If I try and switch off using L button and R lower button it just flashes 0% intermittently. Please help...I’m lost without my FitBit 😞

If your's is still under warranty call support for a replacement. If not your only option is to replace it.  They gave me a 25% discount and I got a Versa. Decided I did not waste money on another Ionic since to took 3 replacements of the originally purchased device to get 13 months of service for my 300.00. Have only had the Versa a few months but so far no problems.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

The bluetooth trick also worked for me. Turned bluetooth off on my phone and half an hour later it was working again. I had the same problem as everyone else here, stuck at 0% charging (mine was also after a firmware update). What a strange fix.

Oddly, and possibly but not necessarily related: my Iconic was having trouble syncing the past week or so. I'm not sure when it started because I don't often check my status inside of the app but one day I went to and noticed it had not synced in weeks and I couldn't get it to sync. A few days later it started syncing again and then a few days after that the 0% problem happened and then turning off bluetooth fixed it. It could be a coincidence but since they were both bluetooth related, I figured I'd mention it.

I agree. The ionic model is a dud. My husband has had a replacement sent 2 times for this same issue. ( = 3 devices total)

If the battery runs down to 0 %, the device will cease to charge. I personally wear a charge 2 and have no issues with it. I bought him the Fitbit as a gift, $ 300 went down the drain

Yours is out of warranty but I would still call customer service to see if they will give you a discount on another device. It is a shame that a 300 dollar smart watch does not last much past the year mark. But they gave me a discount on a Versa special edition have not had any problems so far. The Ionic has manufacturer problems that Fitbit programming can't fit. Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone

I have the same issue with mine.

It just switched off and it wouldn't turn back on no matter how long I keep it plugged.

Did you find a solution meantime?

The only solution that I found was to take the discount on a new device that customer service offered me. I bought a Versa Special edition and so far so good. Have not had any problems. Have had it for close to 4 months which is longer than my first Ionic lasted. It took a total of 4 Ionics to get me outside the year warranty.Sent from my Verizon, Samsung Galaxy smartphone
