Add me to the list of dead Ionics.  Time of Death: 4/3/19 at 10:32 am.  I bought it a few months over a year ago so out of warranty (in US).  I was offered 40% off buying a new Ionic.  I think not.  They should be replacing these units, no question.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your son. Fitbit does indeed have a huge problem that they aren’t addressing with the Ionic. I hope that they do the right thing by you and replace yours.

I just had the same thing happen to me too . I bought my Iconic last February. This has to be a manufacturer defect.

Woeful tale.  Same thing with me.  Approximately 15 months old.   Just stopped working as of last night.  Particularly surprising the response you are all getting around replacement.   My wife and I both had the fractured screen issue with Charge 2 model and got replacements easily.

Haven't phoned support yet.  Will do that later to confirm that there has been no change in their approach on this issue, but if not I'll be Apple or Samsung user very shortly.

It feels like Fitbit is squandering a hard earned customer supportive reputation for a "cutting our losses" approach to this issue.  I'd be surprised if the Ionic remains a product line for much longer if this continues.

Unfortunately it appears Fitbits solution is to offer you the opportunity
to purchase another watch at a reduced price. Many posts have indicated
the replacemnts have the same defect. I'm currently looking at all the
options for replacement and whom i purchase from. Costco has a great
policy for returning under this type of circumstance. Truly my heart goes
out to you because unless Fitbit veers from their norm, the only thing you
will hear is but another .... or not. Generally when I post something like
this Fitbit deletes it because it violates one of theur policies for
posting so read fast. LOL. All i can say is you should seriously look at
your options when looking to replace that watch. My main problem with
their solution of buying another watch, they have not made any attempt to
ecen figure out what is wrong with these dead watches let alone offer an
explination. My guess is that they already know but aren't sharing which
brings up serious concerns about what I can expect from another watch if we
purchase one. Personally, I can"t spend $300 a year on a smart watch.

I'd take a replacement (at no cost) and stop complaining, but I'm certainly not going to spend money on another Ionic... as much as I liked it.  I wish I had bought it from someone with a better return policy.. I don't think Verizon offers anything special like Costco.

Wow I can't believe what I'm readong.  Mine was a gift the christmas gift in 2017 and died 15 months later and all i got was a discount if i bought another so the real question is how they determine who they help and who they decide not to.  I'm curious what state do you live in?

UPDATE.......

I'm happy to report that Fitbit is going to replace my Ionic.  Although it won't be the same watch given to me by my son, it still represents the last gift he gave me before he passed.

I'm very grateful to Fitbit for helping me with this.  I wish all of you on this forum good luck and best wishes as you deal with your own situations.  Godspeed.

Buy a new one
Swap out the old one
Return as defective
Repeat as necessary
If Fitbit won’t take action stores returning dead watches to them will send a message.

I’m glad for you. I will give them another call too, but, I don’t think it will do me any good.

It seems December 2017 is a common thread in this problem. Mine just stopped today and I bought it December 2017. I have tried to contact customer service but it is down. I guess I'm just out $300. Have been with Fitbit for 10 years, will never reccomend to anyone ever again. I work with hundreds of patients who are looking for fitness trackers and I will be sure to tell them all about this.

Mine died sometime midday today, 4/4. I purchased mine on 11/28/2017. So bummed. I really liked it. Really sad to see same thing happening to so many others, too.

I'm glad Fitbit is replacing your watch. I am happy to report that I also have a replacement on the way. Good luck to others working on getting their watches replaced. My watch had quit working on Feb. 9th and was about 6 weeks out of warranty. Not a single scratch, nothing, it just turned off. -- CarlySent from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device

Bought Iconic less than a year ago here in Australia and yesterday when I woke up at 6am it said that I’d done over 8000 steps (wow, restless night?!) and as I was watching the screen the step counter was going up and up without me moving at all. Since then it has gone blank, then once plugged in a dead battery symbol, and now it’s on the charger which isn’t charging and has the Fitbit wave on it. Have tried doing the reset but nothing working. Absolutely gutted. Loved my Fitbit gear (although wireless headphones had to be replaced within a few months of owning and replacement pair died the same death not long after that), and I feel bereft. So many comments here, do I bother trying to replace another Fitbit product? Sad 😔

my email.

My Ionic went black yesterday too, and was purchased 11/28/2017, similar to several other users. Will fitbit be doing any kind of recall? It seems there are quite a lot of others in the same situation that would suggest a factory defect.
