My suspicion is that they received a shipment of bad components that got incorporated into a batch (or batches) of Ionics and that's what is now starting to fail. My recommendation is for fitbit to request those with Ionics that have failed to return them for analysis (fitbit paying for shipping).. they are of absolutely no value to us at this point. Hopefully they can isolate the component that is failing and, based upon your manufacturing records, determine the batch / serial numbers affected. With that information, they could offer replacements for all users that experience failures that fall within that range, now and going forward, regardless of warranty status. That's good customer service, one that might make for return customers. Offering someone 40% off a new one, honestly, is not.

Mine stopped working last night around 9 o'clock. I received it for Christmas in 2017. It's a brick now.

That is actually illegal. I'm no angel, but I'm not sticking the costs (it still cost the retailer time and credibility) to the retailer who sold me the **ahem**ty product. ..and yea, I thought about it.

Interesting that several were purchased/ received November/December 2017 and died just out of warranty. Some get theirs replaced while others get the discount. Wonder how they pick and choose who gets what because it's certainly not based on warranty status.

@Mindmelder .. December 2017. Go figure. Just called support and they gave me a 40% off discount for a new one. So now I only have to pay $160 to replace my defective watch for another one I hope can last more than a year or so...

Please let us know if your replacement lasts. One person posted that their replacement Ionic from Fitbit died after one month. Good luck 🍀 everyone.
