I'm sure this has been covered before, but I have had my Ionic for 2 weeks now and still have troubles with syncing. Everyday. I open the app and will try to sync but it won't. I have to restart my watch, force stop the app, switch my bluetooth on and off a number of times before it will sync properly 😞 It usually takes around 15 minutes to get it to sync. Is there a way to fix this issue? It's starting to get frustrating.

@nicnackEnjoy your 1/2 Marathon because you wont lose your data, even if the syncing is delayed.
All Fitbit devices hold a months data, the first 7 days of that is the minute to minute data and the remaining month is daily figures.
@nicnack wrote:Well seems my workouts are syncing per normal now. Hopefully it stays that way - I've got a half marathon on Sunday and would hate to lose the data from that!!
I have also just opened my app this morning, and for the first time since I purchased my watch, it synced straight away!

Day 4 of my syncing testing.. On awakening the syncing just wheelied again for a few minutes.. The blue bar didn't even move and syncing errors.
Restarted the Ionic and it synced immediately and each time I opened the App since it syncs.
Every day since I have been doing this the Ionic has synced every time the App was opened.. At home, outside and in shopping precincts, and of course over a coffee while looking through my emails/Fitbit Community.
Ionic Battery 57%, Phone battery 74%
I started this testing because I felt it was a low battery issue on the Ionic, but so far it needs a restart after a good nights sleep and doesn't fail for the rest of the wakened hours..

also having trouble syncing mine. Honestly not that impressed with this watch. Haven't sold my Blaze yet, and thinking of going back to that one. This one just stinks. Especially bad when you think that it really doesn't do that much more than a blaze. Been hardcore Fitbit fan for a year and a half, constantly raving about my previous two, but this one SUCKS!

Thanks @Colinm39 - I lost 4 workouts that I tracked last week. After numerous restarts and attempts to sync they still haven't appeared. I contacted FitBit about it and they said to log in on the computer. Did that. Still no workouts. But 2 from this week are there.

@nicnackWhat type of workouts ?.. Are they the auto detect.. or are you selecting from the Exercise Icon.

@Colinm39 One was an auto track walk, and the other 3 were selected workouts on the Ionic. Strange that they just disappeared.
This week is definitely better - syncing included. I just went for a short walk on my lunch break and it automatically detected it, then upon returning to my office there was a notification on my phone saying I was almost at my exercise goal for the week - so it synced straight away without me having to do anything.

I have to disagree with the assessment that it will always store your data when it is not syncing.
That's from Saturday. I already had 13,000 steps on the Ionic before 8pm, none of them synced even as of today, when the device is syncing. I had to go out Sat night and redo all my steps on the Alta to get credit for StepBet! If it had stored the data like it should have, I should see 26,000 steps for Sat.

@SunsetRunnerI'm sorry you have had this issue. I'm coming from using various Fitbits over the years and have never lost steps.. But, in saying that I'm seeing posts in the forum of disquiet about the recordings..
What exercise activity where you recording ? and I presume you have both devices linked to your phone.?. or you linked the Alta to redo your steps.?. Also what phone.?
@nicnackThanks for the feedback, and @SunsetRunner I will do some testing because I found on my Blaze it didn't record workouts if I use the pause and continue. and connected GPS. But, we have a similar Fitbit comparing my Surge so I will test various scenarios and see what happens.. In the testing I found on my earlier HR trackers anything over a minute records so it is simple to test rather than waste the effort.

@Colinm39, I had only the Ionic on the account, but when I realized it hadn't synced in 24 hours, and was about to lose money on StepBet, I put the Alta back on for emergency steps. I removed the Ionic and could not get it back on the account until this morning.
Using an Android Samsung Galaxy S5. It is fully updated, the Fitbit app is fully updated.
This is the second time that I've had an extended period in which the Ionic would not sync, but since it is working again, what is most relevant to the newer part of this conversation is that it did completely lose the steps from the point at which it stopped syncing. I just would caution someone wanting data from their run that they might lose all that data if it isn't currently syncing. I ran my half on Sunday with my Garmin and Alta. While I had really purchased the Ionic to do away with having two trackers on my arm, it was nice to know that I'd still have all my data.

@SunsetRunnerIn one of my earlier posts I mentioned all of the variables.. I just came across one then..
I did my first test for dropped activities and that worked. But, I had trouble syncing, the first time today. Bluetooth on the phone kept stopping and Fitbit sensed this.. What was the variable... Earlier I was on Wi-Fi and I had 9 App updates come through just before our earlier posts. So I rebooted the phone and when I opened the Fitbit App it synced immediately including the first test..
A Sync before I close and that lovely blue bar came across immediately.

@MattFitbit All due respect, it's not personal towards you. That article doesn't address the overall issue with the Ionic. It may Band-Aid it, but at some point, the Ionic will stop syncing. More than likely you know about this issue and have to put a public face on. Speaking with tech support more than once on this issue, "Engineering is aware of this issue and is working towards a solution." That's been the line I've gotten.
The bandaid that's working for me is to, when the Ionic stops syncing, every couple days or sooner, I have to unpair it from the Bluetooth. Not remove it from FitBit app. But then add device and choose replace Ionic. That way, it hasn't been losing my data. I'm trying to help your customers while I'm here with this info. Unfortunately today, I had to do these steps even though I did it yesterday.

Syncing is hit or miss, at best its 30 seconds at worst its never. Wifi doesn't work at all, properly configured. None of the apps work as they refer me to using the app to configure them which I have. I assume the horrid connection is why they don't work. I'm on my second ionic both had the same problems. I've done all the troubleshooting, nothing works. Had to use a cheap LG phone to even sync it to my account (no idea why it worked)

This mornings results..
On wakening I turned phone on, opened Fitbit App and it synced immediately in less than 30 seconds. The blue bar along the top started as soon as I looked at the phone. I didn't have to drag to sync. I then created a manual activity of my sleeping HR, saved that and it synced immediately,
So after 4 days of having to restart the Ionic to get it syncing this morning it worked as expected.
All other functions are working as normal/expected, but the only oddity yesterday was, when the phone was set to "Do Not Disturb", which defaults to warnings only, the Ionic vibrated and notified when a phone call came in. This is now reported in this topic..
Ionic battery 23% and phone battery 90%.
So I will have to discount the low battery as being the problem last week. I'm going to let the Ionic battery run lower and see what transpires.

Resetting the tracker/phone/app is doing nothing, this entire procedure is a PR thing until a real firmware fix comes out. Hopefully it's soon as 70% of my Ionic is non functional and it's not on my end.

anyone else having this problem? i had a devil of a time even getting things started yesterday for the first time - it wouldn't update, took several tries, finally synced yesterday am - and that's been it..............nothing since then no matter what I've tried ( and yes, I did try turning it off then on again)

Off to sleep now. Battery on the Ionic is 13% and phone 20%. I just synced the Ionic from 3metres in under 30 seconds. So now 39 hours without any restarts and all functions have been working.
No loss of data, GPS accurate and Pay is smooth. All notifications have worked.
Totally confused now..... Because I was needing to restart the Ionic daily for awhile.

You would think the beta testers would have vetted this long before it was released. I've been reading the community posts and I gather syncing - or failure to sync, is a common issue. come on fitbit, GET WITH THE PROGRAM!

Similar issue like rest of you - I got Ionic for three days and I was amazed with it but I have spent hours trying to make it sync. Thankfully I ordered it from amazon so I will be trying to get a refund. It is sad, because the whole app & ecosystem seems to be amazing...

@tallullah @KDX I merged your thread to this one to help keep the community tidy.
If you are still experiencing syncing issues, I would recommend performing each of the steps detailed in this post. If you get stuck at any point, let me know.
Hope this helps!
