Ionic time zone won't update

My ionic will not update to the current time zone regardless of how many times I try to sync.

The watch is useless if you can't get it to tell the correct time.

How do you make the watch show the correct time if syncing with with the app does not do it??

Just synced with my iPhone app and time updated immediately.

I have ot admit that this strikes me as being particularly clunky. Samsung's S3 just synchs to whatever timezone your phone is using as does Android wear. To me, having to shag about with a bunch of settings to do something that other hardware does seamlessly points to sloppy design and poor usability testing

Nice work - Please do share how you manage this

Go to your Fitbit Dashboard and choose advanced stetting, click on time zone to desired time zone and then re-sync.

I was in California on a trip from Pittsburgh; it changed during the day after I arrived. When I returned to Pittsburgh, our return trip took us through Houston and it changed to Central Time Zone. When I got home to Pittsburgh, it would chance after an attempt to reboot and connect it to the Wi-Fi. To solve the problem, I when into my dashboard, went to advanced setting and saw it was still on Central Time Zone. I changed it and then re-synced and that solve the problem.

Yes I get that you can do that, but it is poor design. Most other smart
watches synch to your phone's time which updates based on network time so
there is no farting about with apps settings etc. Fit bit need to up their
game at least to the standard of what is already available

Go under advanced settings. From there select your time zone OR toggle on/off the Set Automatically button and then Sync.

It should normally do it overnight after a time change if you gain time. If you lose time it does it right away. Something to do with data from the time you “lose”

This issue appears to have a few causes at least for me. While am traveling my router is setup to have a VPN tunnel up for internet traffic, fitbit blocks my VPN provider. Now I do set ntp on my router to update my actual timezone, the watch does not appear to use the default gateway for ntp. So it's not updating. Of course I have restarted the watch and tried the tips in this thread. Next thing I suppose I will try is manually edit my account settings but I should not have to take this step. Fitbit please consider frequent travelers and allow for a mew strait forward and direct method to update timezone.

Checking timezone in online Fitbit account and selecting the correct timezone fixed incorrect time display. Not sure how or why the setting changed, but I did cross zones this past weekend (EST/CST).

Thx

The ionic has been less than iconic...but after many resets I was finally able to get sync after resetting timezone on the Fitbit account online.

However dont forget to dance around the device 3 times and perform a ritual sacrifice to complete the process.

Now, I have to figure out why activity minutes dont tabulate.

Sad imogee face

Go to your account on fitbit .com [desktop or laptop pc] and check profile settings...once complete reboot, resync all. Uninstall fitbit app and reinstall on mobile.

I traveled to east coast and the time zone changed, but ionic didn't reset back to CST. Mobile app was not syncing to online account, but it is finally good now.

Called it in to support.  Had to factory reset the watch.  It takes 2 hrs to factory reset and update the watch but it's back up and running.  I should of just got another blaze.

I had this issue. I fixed it by going into advanced settings in the app and turning in "automatic location". Why on Earth such a basic function was off in the first place is baffling. And why is it buried in advanced!

A watch keeping time correctly is not advanced Fitbit! Sloppy design...
