Ionic time zone won't update

My ionic will not update to the current time zone regardless of how many times I try to sync.

The watch is useless if you can't get it to tell the correct time.

How do you make the watch show the correct time if syncing with with the app does not do it??

So about a day later, my watch finally did update itself for the time zone
change, when it wouldn't on forced synchronizations and a reboot. A few
days later, I returned to my home time zone, but stayed in an area with
poor phone service for a few days - and again had to put up with the wrong
time (and less accurate data recording) on my Ionic for those few days! -
since there's no way to use the app to sync it without a phone connection.

I gave up and ditched the Ionic and got a Fitbit Versa and it functions
much better than the Ionic did for many issues.

I've been working on this exact issue for 2 days now.  The problem I found was everyone knew the answer (change the time on your online account) but no one gave the EXACT instructions on where to go.  I pretty tech savvy and could not figure out where in the Fitbit Dashboard the setting to change the time zone setting.  It took 2 days.  Save yourself the hassle... Login - Click on the "Gear" on the upper right side (which is view settings) - Click on your device - Left side click on Personal Info - Scroll until you see Time Zone - Select the correct time zone.  Next - Restart your Fitbit watch.  I have the Ionic so all 3 buttons pressed until you get the blue fitbit logo and then release.  Next - go to the Fitbit App on your phone. Sync it.  This is what worked for me after trying for 2 days restarting, removing, googling, reading and just shear frustration.  I hate and love fitbit since 2014.  When it works it's awesome but when it doesn't it is the most difficult piece of tech to troubleshoot!

I appreciate that you gave such detailed instructions.  This is great if you only need your time to correct once.  The problem, for those of us that travel for a living, is that you have to do this everytime you get to a new timezone.  This is unnacceptable and actively prevents me from wearing my Ionic.  I have swithced to a Garmin because I require accurate time on my watch.  I prefer the look and feel of my Ionic, but I need an accurate watch first and foremost.

Awesome, thanks for those detailed instructions.  I don't travel much so it will be a good fix for me.

... If i replaced my Ionic to get out of these kinds of issues,  I wouldn't do it by buying a Versa.   No built-in GPS,  FitBit is currently screwing over people who's Charge 2's were bricked by a firmware update - we could be next, and it would be rewarding FitBit for making a shody product.

Thanks Dovescry Good post....

After months of problems with Ionic and time zones not changing, WiFi problems (basically not working) et al I gave up and went back to the Blaze which works (but no GPS and not waterproof).  So I looked at the Apple Watch 4 instead.......

THE most frustrating thing is that Fitbit (who I know scan the forum) will not respond to this thread! Why?  I have asked them to respond to my posts but nada!

So I took the App off my iPad and forgot about the Ionic. A couple of months later I picked it up and tried. It again, not using the Fitbit App on the iPad but the same App on my iPhone 6 Plus.

Everything worked! Time zones changed, WiFi worked etc etc.

So so for those of you having problems using the app on an iPad I suggest you use the App on you iPhone, it might just work!?

Good luck 😉

I get it to work every time with the following steps

* Sync the watch from your phone (this means you don't loose any data)
* Remove the watch from the app on the phone
* Reinstate the watch to the app on the phone
* Sync the watch

It is a bit of a pain, and obviously there is a software bug around time zones that Fitbit aren't interested in fixing, but it works.

I tried syncing to change time zones, then tried holding down left button and lower right button until Fitbit icon appeared, but the time didn’t change.  What do I do?

You need to definitely check the Advanced Settings in the app or online because I've had to set this setting to do automatic location and time change. 5 times already since I've owned this watch.

Something keeps unsetting my settings after I leave bluetooth off on my phone for more than a 24hours. It will show me the last city I had last updated time automatically in.

This is ultimately what fixed my issue with my time not updating!
My battery died last night and then when I charged it back to full today the time was wrong. Syncing/removing/adding from phone/restarting etc etc wouldn't work.

What finally worked was taking your advice and tweaking it a little bit. I changed the time zone to mountain time, then restarted, then synced in the app and it fixed the time. I then switched back to my regular time zone, restarted and synced in the app and it actually put me on the right time now.

If only the battery wouldn't die so quickly these days : (

This was the most pitiful 5days trying to synch, delete, reboot,  and basically trying to do almost everything an IT Genius would have to know. I Googled it and it gave wrong instructions by saying click on my picture and go to settings!! ****wrong! Go to full Fitbit app on web or your phone, find devices, select device, IONIC, then scroll down to time zone. Then push save. #omg  #whatachallenge #ridiculus Because they don't sell this device they don't support us.

I am not going to buy another watch just because there is a newer version. If "I"  wanted i this and i that...I would have gotten an iPhone Product line. Everything synchs with the iPhone IOS platform. I am anti-IOS and Fitbit was my choice since 2016. It's halfway through 2021snd Fitbit is losing :chart_decreasing: their ground with healthcare sector.

Wakeup.Be better, work smarter, and support your Fitbit Line.
