Ionic won't sync and is displaying the wrong time

My Ionic won't sync with my iPhone SE and displays the wrong time. When I woke up today the time on my Ionic was 1hr 4min behind and now, 3hrs later, its 1hr 20 minutes behind. How can that be?? It also happened yesterday but when I synced it the problem was solved. Now I can't even sync it. The battery is full so that can't be the problem. I tried turning the tracker on and off, my phone on and off, the bluetooth on and off and I tried removing the Ionic from my bluetooth connections on my phone and from the Fitbit app as was suggested in this forum but now it won't connect to my phone at all so its pretty much useless. I can't sync it with my phone and on top of that it's showing complete nonsense time. Any help?

syncing is a horrendous issue for me, so its a common issue that you have to keep trying until it works. what seems to happen is the app turns the internet on and off repeatedly on some devices, which wont let it sync. you have to keep trying until its stable enough to work. as for the time i dunno, maybe go into the timezone (cant remember if its on the website or app) and make sure the proper time zone is picked. if you have windows 10 you can try the app on a computer and see if it works. not that its any better it sucks, but it might work on one better then the other

i havent had issue with time, but i still have syncing issues. today the sync worked good im not sure why. the only thing i can think of is maybe the server data is being overloaded with data or the bluetooth. from what i read, in my case, for some reason when i turn bluetooth on on my computer it shuts my internet on and off on my pc. sometimes it works ok, most of the time it dont. and then i have to constantly re sync over and over for a hour until it works. it pretty much decides on its own when it wants to work. its really a bad setup. a usb sync would be better instead of bluetooth. other then that i like it. i finally got headphones to use with the watch which is a fun feature

Well, add me to the list.  About two days ago my Ionic just stopped sync'ing and is losing about 40 minutes per 6 hours.  Also yesterday when I went out for my normal morning walk, when I started the exercise it froze...then self reset.  Once it was back up, I tried to start the exercise again, froze...then self reset.  At that point I gave up for the morning....

I think yesterday by the end of the day it was off by about 2.5 hours.  Somehow it managed to sync right after I put it on the charger then wouldn't sync again...

Sudden problem, based on the chain, feels hardware-ish since the App is up to date on my phone, I've reset multiple times, power cycled the device, bluetooth, the phone, etc.  I haven't factory reset, but I don't suspect that will make any real difference....

anyway, just adding to the pile for everybody else who's having this problem.  I agree its a disappointment.  I've had fitbits for years and this Ionic is by far the most buggy.

I now have the same problem with synchronisation as hundreds of others. To begin with all seemed OK. Now regular synchronising is not possible despite numerous reboots and reloads. I am returning my very expensive Fitbit for full refund. Hence you will not see me on this message board again. One would think they might beta test an app update before releasing it. This update has clearly killed Fitbit stone dead.

Hi everyone! Thanks for taking the time to write this post and providing all of those details regarding the situation you are experiencing with this. Thanks for trying deleting the the app, restarting Ionic, and for spending so much time trying the steps you found on the forums. I'm glad they worked first, however it is unfortunate to read it is not syncing once again.

What type of mobile device are you using? Is it showing under the list of supported devices?

Also, what other steps did you tried that you found on the forums? Did you tried the steps listed here? You can try them one more time in the given there for best results.

Hope this helps, I'll be around if you need further assistance!

It's been sporadically not syncing every two months or so. I've just been formatting the watch and that seems to fix it. I have it linked to my Note 8 which stays up to date. Every person I know with an Ionic here in Macon, GA has the same issue. The problem is in the watch.

Chuckle, so first of all syncing is only one part of my problem.  I just went on an overnight hike/camping trip totally off the grid (no cell signal).  When I got back from my overnight my Fitbit Ionic clock was off by FOUR HOURS!!!!

There is absolutely no reset or app issue that should cause the clock to be off four hours after 20 hours off the grid.  This is a continual problem, I have reset the thing at least 10 times, its still happening.  It won't sync to either of my phones nor my computer (I still have a dongle)...Trying to use GPS still causes the thing to crash every time I try...

Uh I think its broken...

iPhone 8 Plus with latest IOS

fitbot app up to date

watch firmware up to date

tried ALL steps posted here.

watch is hours out after moving through time zones and it makes no difference if I manually set time zone or set to automatic.

the watch shows the incorrect time and this cannot be adjusted either through iOS app or through desktop app.

having a watch which refuses to show the correct time renders it absolutely useless. I switched from Apple Watch and wished I had not, this will ruin Fitbit unless it is resolved and resolved quickly.

RazoRmedia,

if you're having problems similar to I described with the time I ended up getting an RMA sent to me.  So clearly my Ionic was just broken.  The new one is fine.

Fitbit...Never again.

Yes I agree, as I stated in one of my many emails to support, this started with me on the 26th of October 2018, I carried out ALL of the above troubleshooting and it is a huge fault  that a smart watch is not able to tell or keep the time!!!

I’ve only had it for 6 months really enjoyed the honeymoon period!

As you requested, I tried this one more time, twice in fact. I Went through the steps and was able to get the fit bit to sync for literally 20 minutes, when it stopped again. It lasted long enough for me to change my watchface then it stopped working. I then tried it again, went thorough the steps and again was able to sync it long enough to go back to the watchface I had before. my wife and I bought two ionics for Christmas last year and were going to buy two more for our kids, however after the past two frustrating days I refuse to buy another one and in fact am this close to demanding my money back! Is Fitbit working on a solution to this problem? Does anyone know if they are working on a solution to this problem? It seems to me if this is as common a problem as appears on this board, they should be doing something to salvage their reputation. I want a solution to this problem as soon as possible. .  Please let me know.

I’m experiencing the same exact issue with IPhone SE. Have you gotten any resolution? I’m getting aggravated.

All my sync'ing and other issues went away when I got a RMA replacement for my Ionic...works great since then...not a great sign for everybody else.
