I upgraded from the blaze to the Ionic but have had problems ever since. My ionic won't connect to my phone properly, I have tried everything. Restarting the Fitbit, restarting my phone, uninstalling the app, turning my Bluetooth on and off. It literally will never sync, the notifications are coming through sometimes but it won't sync my data and wont connect to my phone to control the music etc. Do you think the Fitbit itself is faulty as I had no problems with my blaze.

Bingo! That worked (hold left & lower right buttons 10 sec,) after trying EVERYTHING else. Thanks!

I was having similar issues. I reset my phone and Ionic. I did the factory reset, I deleted and reinstalled the app. Nothing seemed to work....
But then I SHUTDOWN my blaze (from the settings icon on the watch) and immediately my Ionic started syncing properly.

Sharing my response to another similar post:
This issue started happening with me as well after the latest update for the app. I noticed a change when my morning syn went from 5 seconds, to almost a minute. Long story short, to resolve this issue I went into the app, clicked the add device link, and went through the steps of setting up the device as if it were the first time.
The app will recognize that you already have an Ionic setup and will as you if you want to replace it with the new device you're setting up. Click yes, follow the same steps as when you first setup the device and once complete, the device should be synced.
I've tried syncing several time since I did this and it seems to be working as normal; ie recognizing the device, syncing within 5 seconds again.

Gaineous,
This works. I was having trouble with my Ionic syncing with my iOS Fitbit app. So I tried your advice and added my Ionic to the devices list (for the second time), then deleted the original Ionic installation when asked. It definitely cleared things up and it syncs much faster.

Every few days I need to forget and then re-pair to make sync work again. It's very irritating. Also I turned notifications off because they sometimes come, sometimes not. I'll likely return this thing. Disappointing

after many phone calls, emails, and social media posts fitbit agreed to give me a refund for my ionic. Tech support had no resolution for the problem so the only solution was for me to return my ionic and get a refund. As soon as fitbit works out their issues Im willing to buy another one . Until then I have re activated my old fitbit charge HR.

The thing that makes me sad is that if not for a few annoying bugs that seem easily fixable it would be really good...

@DramaQueenDiva, I have used the phone's Bluetooth settings to tell it to Forget the Ionic a number of times in order to get it to sync - it has worked every time. One of the problems of the Forums, though, seems to be that many users don't search or peruse the forum for suggestions/answers before posting their "unique" problem.
The "unique" problem you're insinuating folks are having is (as you meant 😋 ) the very common problem of the Ionic not syncing reliably. Syncing reliably is the number one thing the Ionic needs to do well. That's like selling a car that won't start reliably, and saying "just get a jump start every time you need to start it and your fine".
Unfortunately that's not part of the advertised procedure for using the device, and could be considered a defective product, or even not fit for purpose. I've read of several people here getting a refund after the refund period, because they claimed their Ionic wasn't fit for purpose, and Fitbit gave them the refund rather than fight about it.
Blaming the customer for a poor quality device that doesn't live up to the advertisements is a great way to lose customers and get a bad reputation 😨😱😉

Thanks, that worked for me too!
Hopefully they solved the problem soon, $300 is not even a cheap device. 😞

I had the same problem with my Ionic not syncing to my Samsung also not getting notifications.
Used to work then stopped. I think it started just after I paired a set of wireless headphones to my phone.
I went into my bluetooth settings on my phone and took some of the unused paired devices off.
(Unpaired them) The Ionic synced straight away and has flawlessly since.
I think I had about 9 or 10 paired devices on my phone. Computers, two cars, speakers, etc.
Must have been too many.
Try that and see if it works for you.

Just got off the phone with FB Tech Support. They refuse to give me a full refund for a watch I purchased Jan 5th and now (3/19) hasn't synced reliably with my devices for 6 weeks. I've done multiple resets and repeat set-ups. Anyone else want to consider joining a legal action against FB. I could get a better watch in a McDonalds happy meal.

Just reviewed the investment analyst reports for Fitbit. There is no mention of any issues with their ionic products. I bet Fitbit forgot to mention it in their latest update. I'll have to send the analysts a quick note.

Ok I managed to fix syncing by deleting my other, unusued device (Fitbit Flex 2) from the devices list in the Fitbit App
