My ionic won't turn on after I shut it down. I hold down the large button on the left and nothing. And it won't charge either. Am I doing something wrong? I haven't even had it for 24 hrs

Hi My Fitbit IONIC Tracker is not switching on. Tried to Hold the back(Left) and Bottom buttons together for more than 30 seconds. But still no change.

Need quick support. I contacted local shop in Qatar, since the device has completed 1 year 1 month hence they regretted to support.

Ours was stone dead and the chat room trouble shooter said out of warranty. It sat on the counter for a few days while we thought about possible complaint. But just for the heck of it I pushed the buttons again today and it sprung to life. Resurrected, I guess.

It's dead. There's nothing you can do at this point. I've argued numerous times, all they will do for you at this point is give you a discount to buy another one. Kind of **ahem**ty.

Same issue. Tried all the steps offered but I have nothing but a black screen. One day it was working and fully charged, the next it's apparently dead. I have tried everything, even bought a new charging cable but no change. Surely there's something that can be done. Any ideas why this happens or fresh ideas on how to fix it? I bought this because it was supposed to be the best, now I can't use it at all. 😞

Mine died this morning - had it 1 week - contacted fitbit direct through live chat / help / support on website - within 10 mins have organised me a replacement - Im  awaiting an email. I really hope someone gets in touch as bought it in Thailand through Lazada (expat living in bangkok). No sure who is contacting me - have emailed lazada supplier, but no reply - really like the watch too - big shame. I just hope I'm not out of pocket....

I too am a BKK fitbit user, see from my comments above.... I had issues BUT for some reason I managed to get my dud Ionic back up and running. No help from fitbit mind you, I actually think it was a fluke. The biggest problem was it not connecting with wifi or Bluetooth and staying connected. People please do not ask me how but somehow I got it back connected for the new what I think "firmware" to be installed. Since then I has been going ok but I have it in manual sync mode to avoid previous issues.

To the people out there try again, fitbit may have done something in the background to fix the issue but I get the idea they will never admit it.

This did not work. My Ionic displayed that it was charged to 100%. I went to put it on a few minutes later and it wouldn't turn on. I've gone through all the steps (holding the back button and bottom left button in for 10 seconds, 1 minute, 2 minutes, etc.. The startup logo never starts up. I've tried to simply press the back button after following the procedure outlined above also. Nothing. Nada. I too am apparently a proud owner of an 18 month old that is now not even good as a paperweight. And for the past year, I've not been running and I've been using it simply as a watch and to monitor my heart rate, which is really important for me because I have borderline tachycardia.

I shared on Facebook what a piece of garbage Fitbit is. My Garmin Forerunner lasted 7 years and I was running/cross training during that time. After about 18 months, it's no longer working. Going back to Garmin, or Polar, or anyone else but Fitbit. 18 months. I'm pretty disgusted.

AnneL63, I keep mentioning that when Fitbit defenders come in saying those have the same warranty. Sure, but it will last 5 years and you will retire it not because it is broken, but because Garmin stopped updating it and you want something else.

Not sure what point you're trying to make. My Garmin lasted seven years with much more use. My Ionic lasted less than 18 months when primarily used as a WATCH. Please clarify your point. Are you agreeing with me or suggesting an alternative?

Friendly and best intentions,

Anne

I am making your point, sure Garmin has a one year warranty, but who cares when it will last 5 years no problem.

What does that have to do with my dead Fitbit Ionic?

This thread is for Ionics that won't even turn on. Was that your initial problem? If so, how did you get it to turn on?

Since you seem to think that I'm arguing with you I will make it clear. I am agreeing with you, a Garmin will last long after the warranty is up, in fact it likely won't stop working, it will just become outdated.

My 5th $360 ionic in less than 2 years just **ahem** the bed again, brand new from the box in under 4 months... just like the first 4. Although each is more up to date and nicer... they have the same problem.

The Bluetooth just stops working.

Cant sync, and if that was it I’d still wear it as a watch and see my steps and other stuff daily, but if you can’t sync the time isn’t correct.

Fitbit doesn’t think that their product has an issue but everyone who has one that does the same thing thinks otherwise.

Mine didn’t even have a scratch.

it makes me sick. I finally talked to a tech girl that I’m sure secretly asked me if I’m in the military or work underground... which I don’t. But my house and warehouse/shop both have heavy duty metal roofs. BINGO!!! She said. The interference screwed it up and after coming in and out of those places hundreds of times, it just gives out.

although my phone headphones 4 tablets speakers watches iPods and numerous other things with Bluetooth don’t seem to lose their Bluetooth capability. She also said that using a Fitbit with iOS (iPhones iPads) also has a negative effect.

Just sick and tired of the bull**ahem**. In 2 years I went through 5 and was without one for all the weeks and months of troubleshooting and shipping and warranty and deductibles inbetween.

never in my life had a product that

I love be so crappy! And the company could care less and gave no answer as to why!

I feel ya.  In 22 months I went through 5!!! And the last one lasted 3 months and Fitbit could give 2 **ahem**s.

It must be the hundreds of thousand of users not understanding how to connect with Bluetooth and Wifi... lol.

But it can’t be a fluke flaw **ahem** design in their precious product.
