My ionic is frozen

I noticed I don't get text messages on my ionic anymore. A friend told me to update my device. So i updated it and it seems like it's staying at the updating mode (downloading.....) forever. The problem is I can't even turn off the device as it looks like it's frozen.

Is it plugged in and using wifi?

It is plugged in and the wifi is strong. It stayed downloading then in the end, it said that it failed with the Wifi and and told me to try with the bluetooth. I don't know if trying to update with he bluetooth would work because I get the feeling if will do the same thing. So frustrating.

I was able to connect via bluetooth and the receiving text messages works now, however I'm still not able to update the device. Also the wifi on the device, it said "off" but on the app on my phone the wifi is connected to the fitbit app. In other words, the wifi is connected to the app but not the device. How odd!
