No support from fitbit whatsoever....apple watch purchase this afternoon!

Done with fitbit. I purchased the Ionic for my wife when they were first released, after being warned by the 16 year old at Best Buy that fitbits are poorly made and there is zero support from the company. My wife had bought me a Blaze for me a couple years ago that has been great so far, so I figured the high school student was off with their feelings about fitbit.

Last week something with the display started acting up on my wife's Ionic and now the display doesn't work at all. My wife contacted fitbit and as the warranty expired just shy of two months ago, their is apparently nothing they can or will do. The response was that we need to purchase a new watch. I realise that the warranty has expired but what I didn't know is that they can't or won't even repair them. It almost cost me $500 CAD for a watch that lasts just over a year. My wife and I were just about to purchase two fitbits for our daughters so thankfully this happened before we made that decision as we will not be buying anything from fitbit again. Too bad, but this will likely be another tech company that will go down the Blackberry road.

Not bashing, just want others to be aware and only spreading the word on the downfalls of this company will ever cause them to make any changes. Good luck!!!

Yep this has been widely reported especially devices just outside of warranty.  In Australia the warranty was Court enforced to be 2 years.  See link for details.

Really there is no need to suffer in Frustration - simply call Tech Support at 877-623-4997 and get your Ionic replaced right now while you can
Many have followed this straightforward advice and now have a replacement Ionic - we all should have “zero tolerance” for any defective Ionic

I've had it with Fitbit as well. I am moving on to Garmin now. Enough is enough!

Garmin Fenix 5s Plus, Fitbit Ionic, Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus

Thanks for this. Interesting article for sure and I'm going to look at filing a complaint here in Ontario, Canada and at the very lease try and help people make a better decision as there are many other companies in this market. Like I said, I get that a warranty is a warranty and we are outside of the warranty period, but to have absolutely no solution or possible fix on such an expensive item...brutal!

Yep keep that link.  Here is some other interesting info.  Others posting have also noted burns with current devices.  Buyer beware.  Note this post may be taken down so get a screenshot while you can.
