Paid/ subscription music

I have recently purchased the Fit-bit ionic. Why do you need Wireless, Bluetooth, and a USB-Fit-bit prioritized cable? Does the Fit-bit cable only push power through to the device? I don't see why if I can find the Fit-bit on my router’s wireless dashboard. Why can't I at least assign that IP within the Fit-bit desktop app to exchange music files that way or hardwired alone?

I think it would be a nice gesture to have other paid subscription platforms. I can see this being a security issue, but the device syncs with your phone enough to know that it would be a valid offline copy.

The USB cable is power only; it does not allow for data transfer to the Ionic.

There have been many folks here request support of Spotify, Amazon Prime Music, Google Play Music and others. Only time will tell if Fitbit decides to add support for any of these options.

As for downloading from other paid subscriptions, the details will need to be worked out individually between Fitbit and each music source.

It sounds like your asking for something like  an FTP server put on the Ionic.

Could I make a personal ftp server and bypass the Bluetooth requirement?

Likely not; the firmware/phone app are probably hard-coded for specific expectations based on the selected music service. Also, it's been noted that the Ionic can only play DRM-free music, so you'd need to ensure all music meets this requirement.

There's no direct access to the filesystem for music storage, other than the Music app or approved streaming (Deezer/pandora).

@JakeFromSt8Farm that would be a question for tSDK development Board you certainly may write your own Ionic app, but it looks like your question has been answered.
