Hi folks,
Anyone else have issues with notifications on their Ionic? I'm on a OnePlus 5 here.
I find that after a few hours, notifications stop piping through to the watch. Normal sync is fine, and I've excluded the Fitbit app from battery optimisation and enabled the permanent notification and constant connection.
The only way for me to restore notification is to shut down and restart the watch.
So frustrating!
I turned off the default and put it on through the notification list it works then but the next morning its un ticked again and have to tick it again.but all the other apps i use stay ticked.

Yeah I see that unticking behaviour with other apps I need notifications from. Yes Ionic syncs. Thanks for confirming. This is a BUG. It does work when it's ticked for a little while then gets unticked.
I have no.issues with TypeApp being the default email client.

For me and my Note 8, Gmail never worked unless I remove it from my default
mail app (within Fitbit, not Android) and turn it on from the full app
list, if that makes sense.
This worked for me as well. Thanks so much!
Best AnswerThe same for me
Very frustrating. I don't think I am willing to restart phone + watch couple of times a day ....
I thought that if that has been perfected on pebble they won't have it on Ioninc. Notifications simply do not work!
Xiaomi Mi Mix
12 month battle trouble shooting the synch issue with the surge. I gave up.
I log into synch with my laptop it then weirdly gives me 2-3 days connection to my phone. I have to synch as soon as it stops working. I dont use my laptop often apart from this.

Best AnswerI was having problems getting gmail notifications on my ionic using my galaxy s8. This is how I solved the problem. Go into notifications, choose email notifications and turn off email notifications by toggling the switch at the top. Then go back to the previous page and choose app notifications. Check the box next to the gmail app. This also worked for me for calendar notifications. Now I'm getting all of my notifications and I love my new ionic! Hope this works for others.
Best AnswerI am having the opposite problem.
I originally checked several apps to receive notifications. Then I decided I didn't want to receive the email notifications. I unchecked the boxes and synced my Ionic. After I received an email notification (ugh!), I checked the app notifications on the app and the email box is checked. I am using a Moto G4.
Best AnswerHaving same issue of notifications not appearing after certain time. I am having to enable notification access every time. When that is done, I receive all notifications from all apps. But the problem is enabling notification access to fitbit app gets deselected. Not sure on the problem.
I am on Huwaei Honor 8 phone.
I love Ionic, but maybe will have to return if this issues persists.
Best AnswerI think its a bug in the fitbit software hopefully they will do an update but i can live with turning them on everyday for the time being anyway.
Best AnswerI confirm your observation. My fitbit app seems to "forget" that notification access has been enabled and it prompts me to enable it again...
Time between "forgets" is random...
Best AnswerHiya,
I am on a OnePlus3T, and I have just found out the same problems. No notifications pushed through. Only the One Plus One is mentioned on the Fitibit compatibility list, but that doesn't seem to include the Ionic either.
All a bit of con really.
I think this thing is going back to the shop for a rebate.
There was no mention that I saw in the hype about needing to check phone compatibility.
Not happy at all.
Best AnswerI checked the compatibility link that you posted for One Plus One. Did you notice that it doesn't even offer the option of Ionic in the checklist.
These guys are well behind. Hyping Android functionality that clearly doesn't work. Nor warnings anywhere that I have seen.
Essentially a scam to get your money and hope you done't take it back to the shop in disgust.
Grrrrrr
Very frustrated.
Best AnswerI think I fixed my problem. I simply uninstalled and reinstalled the app. Now, none of those boxes are checked. I'm not sure why I didn't do this to begin with. It's always the first step that tech support has you do.
Now, I need to get the syncing issue fixed!!
Best AnswerUpdate 19.10.17- Issue has cropped up again. Notifications when work, work like charm, but then stops working after some time. I have enabled everything possible on my phone, but issue is there. Feeling frustrated a bit now!!
Update: I too seem to have resolved the notification issue.
Un-installed and re-installed the app. Also unchecked the All Day Sync option.
I am receiving notifications and works fine as of now.
Seem to be having issue in updating the weather app though!!
Best AnswerI read the whole thread but didn't see any mention of SMS being reported incorrectly. If I get multiple text messages in a row they show up incorrectly from a different sender. In the example below both Tessa and Alan sent me a text...however the message from Alan shows up from contact Tessa(who sent a previous message) but with Alan's name and then the message. Any ideas? @FiZ1point5 wrote:I'm on a Google Pixel, and notifications worked with my blaze, but I've never received a single app notification with my Ionic. I get phone call notifications, and if I fire a test notification, that works. But other than that, nothing. No email, no messenger, no weather, nothing. (Although I'd noticed that even on my blaze, email *never* sent notifications)
Same problem on my pixel. Calls work but nothing else.
Best AnswerDid you uninstall and reinstall the Fitbit app? That's how I fixed my app notification problem.
I would recommend uninstalling the app, rebooting your Ionic and then reinstall the app. Hopefully, that works.
Best AnswerYou have a pixel? I tried uninstalling reinstalling restarting the ionic restarting Bluetooth restarting wifi tweaking all of the notification settings. Still Nothing from any app. Only calls and the test alerts come through.
Best AnswerI am using a Moto G4.
I'll assume you have gone into the Fitbit app and selected the apps that you want to receive notifications.
My original problem was that I had checked the apps I wanted notifications and then decided I did not want them. I unchecked the apps, synced my Fitbit and then saw that all the apps were checked again. This is when I decided to uninstall and reinstall the app.
