Resetting Fitbit Ionic

Folks, when all else fails, try resetting your Ionic.  Here is how: Press and hold the left and bottom right buttons together, until the Fitbit icon appears, then release.

The reset has always worked for me when things get hookie and hopefully will for you as well!

Hi. Well here I am again. This is the third time my Ionic is dead. The previous 2 times it was returned and replaced. They wouldn't extend the warranty, so now I am out of warranty. Does anyone have any idea what an out of warranty repair costs? Do you think it is worth it?

Hi, i am  away on holiday and just after a swim session my third Ionic has just given up.Continuous  start up loop. This cleared and managed a couple of master resets, red x appeared now and i cant do anymore. These watches need a recall they are so unreliable. Will return mine to shop on my return. I was assured six months ago when my last one gave up that i would  have a fresh 12 months warranty.I really hope so.Sent from Samsung tablet.

The factory restart didn’t work for me. I’m left with a very odd display. Before I did this my steps stated 2003 but my App had over 12000 and distance walked and floors climbed was very low too.

Now my display has “NaN” for the distance and all other show - - -

Not sure what to do now

This is the display I have now. I noticed that when I put the watch on charge once it charged past 94% the display returned. However I took the watch on a bike ride and it stopped recording after 2 minutes and at the end of the ride (29 miles). This is what the display looked on  return. After charging it doesn’t seem to have returned to normal this time521FA721-EABE-452C-85AF-9CE2D4D11C04.jpeg

Yeah mine was exactly the same.... Then no display at all... I wish I bought a Garmin. Much more professional watch.

Hi there

I have recently reset my fitbit but seem to have lost my stored data on my phone   I didn't factory reset.  Is this normal?

Thank you

  • I removed my device from my Fitbit dashboard and then reinstalled t using a Bluetooth connection. In the process of being reinstalled it did a software update and voila all worked perfect. I didn’t lose any stored data, and I am unsure why that would occur Carol4 because that data should be stored in your Fitbit dashboard. What you might lose is your current watchface and list of  selected exercises. Keep trying the do the reinstall - it might take a couple of attempts. Hope you can get your data back,

Hi,

My device was getting switched off randomly. I tried resetting 3 time, still the issue didn't get resolved. Hence, I uninstalled the app from my phone and did factory reset from my device using the same steps provided. However, I am unable to restart the device. Could you please let me know, how to do that?

Thanks,

Shakti

I’ve been using the hold 3 button, let go of bottom right button, then when it vibrates let go of all buttons to do a hard reset and it restarts but still goes back to the red x.

Im so bummed. Does anyone else have a workaround?

Thanks for troubleshooting your device prior posting, I totally understand how frustrating this situation can be. Let me share with you that when a firmware update fails on our Ionic device, the red X that you mentioned on your post is usually shown. That said, can you please check our help article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device? and let me know how it goes?
