My Ionic recorded an additional 7,103 steps today while it was sitting on my desk recharging. Based on other help articles, the likely explanation is a small personal fan, operating on its lowest speed, vibrating several inches away.
The device, my iOS app, and the web-based Dashboard all display 15,415 steps. However, the Steps detail graph shows the actual count of 8,312. I've reset my device and synced the Ionic to my iPhone several times yet the two different counts remain.
My question is... if the iOS app knows that my actual step count is 8,312, why does the inaccurate count display everywhere else?
Thanks!

Hey there @MrMurphy, it's nice to see you around the forums! Thanks for restarting your device, nice way to go my friend!
This is very strange let me say, your activity history should show the same steps than your tracker unless an activity has been manually logged.
So, in order for both of us to figure out where the issue is coming from, would you like to post me your Activity History (click here to go there). See my activity history below (I'm posting the picture I want from you):
In the meantime, I'd recommend doing the following:
Looking forward to your response!

Thanks for your response MarreFitbit!
I'm not sure that the Activity History is a part of the issue that I'm trying to describe. I do have one Activity logged for Sunday 11/26 and all of the details of that activity appear to be accurate.
The problem that I experienced was that my Ionic counted steps while off my wrist (plugged in and charging) and resting on my desk near a small fan. And I get that the device misinterpreted the vibration from the fan as steps.
The issue that I'm really curious about is in the Steps graph. When I look at the iOS app for Sunday 11/26, the steps are displayed at 16,097. When I touch the Steps icon and go to the Steps history page, again Sunday 11/26 is displayed as 16,097 steps. And, when I press on the Sunday entry to see the Steps chart, again the app displays 16,097 steps.
But when I expand the Steps chart (white bars, green background) to full screen (white background, green and orange bars) the Steps are displayed at the top of the screen as 8,994, which is the accurate count. And, for the time period that the Ionic was off my wrist and charging, there are NO steps displayed on the chart.
So the issue that I'm trying to describe is that somehow the iOS app knows the accurate step count and can distinguish between actual steps taken and false "steps" recorded by device vibration while charging.
I also viewed the Steps chart for Sunday above the Activity History section on the website Dashboard. Just below the chart, Fitbit displays 16,097 as the total number of steps. But if you actually counted up the step values on all of the bars in the chart, those values add up to 8,994.
Hope this helps!

Did you ever get a resolution to this issue because I just experienced the exact same thing today?
