Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

Well, I don’t even have an Android … besides… how can you buy a new Fitbit with Google Play ‘money’….

I'm entering week 9 now and still no progress. I'm from the UK and requested a refund through a virtual Mastercard. I've called the recall line 3 times now and no one can update me. Finding this all very stressful and I'm out of pocket after purchasing a new Fitbit as I was under the assumption I would be getting this refund (email received to say it was verified etc, just no refund received). What else can I do? 😑

Hello there. I saw messages earlier from you and I seem to be having the same problem as you -- I do want to state that I am in Luxembourg, however I seem to be having the same issue where the disable page keeps saying I do not have a reference code, even though I have been given a reference code!

Nothing in spam. emailcontact, facebook messenger contact… allll utter bs. nobody helps; they want you to phone the helpdesk. For what? To tell me the same bs again?!  Besides that, I will not phone anyone, as it’s a UK nr and I am in NL! This costs me too much energy; I am annoyed all the time  because if the ‘help’ and the reading 60 times the same nonsense. If they will repeat on not helping me, I will just keep using my Ionic. And if something happens? Well….that would be ‘fun’ would it? Totally had enough!

I have received an email with my refund but logging into my paypal , it doesnt show, and the number provided doesnt exist and no other way to contact them to assist. Paypal said i need to contact the sender.

I am having the same issue! Recieved my refund email , when clicking on claim my money, an error message pops up, i spoke to someone on live chat and they insist i should phone the number for my country, which is a london number and im in SOuth Africa, well i tried to phone the number and it said it doesn't exist, after explaining this to the live chat, they said that i have to keep trying as thats the ONLY option...

Mine was apparently the 22 April , but the funds arent showing in my paypal account...

In early April, I received an email approving the request for payment from Fitbit Payments. I also registered my account, but more than a month has passed, and I still haven't received my refund! Today, I sent an email to inquire, and received a reply saying that "we have closed this case because we have not received your message for a period of time". Is this non-refundable?

I submitted my refund application March 6th.

I received an email confirmation of acceptance that within 3-6 weeks my refund would be processed. I’ve since phoned the help line and confirmed I’m in the system and been told be patient.

My Ionic has also been deregistered and now no longer usable.

Now 2 months later I’ve received nothing and have no watch.

What happens now????

Hey. I just got off the phone for the fourth time and was told wait another couple of weeks.

I am in week 9 too. My case has been sent to a specialist team as now after 9 weeks and 4 phone calls there is now a problem with my registration that wasn’t there beforehand. (Convienent…)

I have been assured I will be receiving an email from this team detailing when I can get my refund.

I am not holding my breath.

HI, Ionic now disabled and verified. Can't access any discount code though, the link doesn't work. Just keeps asking me to log into my account and it ends there.

Anyone having this?
