Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

Another one added to the list of non payments.

I chased after 6 weeks and was told that my details were there and I would receive a payment in 3 - 6 weeks (i.e. the same message as before)

Another 6 weeks have now passed and there is no payment. I already have a paypal account so that isnt a problem, and when I replied to the email from support telling me I would get paid (6 weeks ago) i got the automated reply of "case closed due to lack of activity".

Come on Fitbit. I've already changed scales from you, as they just went pop all of a sudden and support were useless. Looks like my next tracker is going the same way

I'm an Australian Ionic owner and filled out the claim for refund and received message to say it would take 3-6 weeks back on 8th of May.

Almost 11 weeks later, 2 polite but unhelpful phone calls later no sign of refund.

How long have people been waiting?

Wondering if it is really going to happen.

I have been waiting more than 12 weeks for the refund since I registered and verified my account for refund. I am based in New Zealand. Did not receive any confirmation email from Fitbit. Called UK phone numbers to follow up on the refund several times, got told the claim had been processed and the money should be received in a week. Useless!!!! I asked for escalation - no luck. Wasting my money on calling UK numbers each time. Also have not received any discount code to make another purchase either. Is there an email I can contact to get the discount code for New Zealand?

In Thailand, now there are no fitbit dealers anymore, fitbit ionic users who made a refund can't contact the service center at all.
I made a refund more than 10 weeks ago, can't track the refund. Consumers have been taken advantage of by the company because the ionic is now not working. So sad!

Where can we complain to the company? Is there an email address that can be notified directly? I do not communicate well in English

That’s the problem, they don’t have one that will respond to this issue.

It really is so sad.
Google bought out the company it is they whose reputation should be being criticised not Fitbit.
Fitbit for all the years I was using their products was completely reliable.

got the 40% off a new Fitbit in March, end of March, signed up and received a virtual Mastercard ($299). 2 weeks ago, used it twice at Amazon successfully. I have about $100 left on it.

Best Answer

I got it, spent most of it at Amazon already.

Best Answer

Yes, got the 40% for a new Fitbit and got the $299 refund on a virtual credit card, of which I've spent most of it.
