Voluntary Safety Recall of Fitbit Ionic Smartwatches

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

ionic_product.pngFitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.

The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.

This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.

If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

  • Answers to common questions
  • Information on how to receive a refund
  • Access to a special discount on select Fitbit devices, bands, and services, if available in your region, for a limited time.

Hi, it was 3 months ago - so it looks like I'll be waiting for a while longer! Does this mean that we lose the Discount we were offered as it expires after 90 days?

I selected to receive a prepaid MasterCard as my refund option when I turned in my FitBit Ionic. My return was verified and I was supposed to receive my refund within 10 business days, but this was on June 1st and I still have not received my refund. Has this happened to anyone else? I just want to see if it's worth my time to call customer service or if it's just taking a lot longer for them to process refunds than they originally anticipated.

Thank you!

i am trying to set up an ionic. it’s one that belonged to my parent that i want to work. perfectly fine condition with nothing wrong with it. i did a successful factory reset and now i’m trying to pair it again. when it comes to connecting them together (after you put in the code) it tells me that my device is locked. i’m very confused. this happened before and after the factory reset.

The Ionic has been recalled.  If your parents got a refund or trade-in for another device, I expect Fitbit locked the device so it could not be reused.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Thank you for responding! However, the ionic has not been refunded or recalled. My parents got this Fitbit from their place of work. My parent stopped using it and I found it in a box. It should be working because my parent hasn't gotten another fitbit sincr. Thank you though, for your response.
