Fitbit, in conjunction with the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), announced a voluntary recall of Fitbit Ionic smartwatches, which the company introduced in 2017 and stopped producing in 2020. The battery in the Ionic smartwatch can overheat, posing a burn hazard.
The health and safety of Fitbit users is our highest priority. We are taking this action out of an abundance of caution for our users. We will offer a refund to Fitbit Ionic customers.
This voluntary recall is specific to Fitbit Ionic devices. It does not impact any other Fitbit smartwatches or trackers.
If you have an impacted Fitbit Ionic device, please stop using it and visit our webpage where you’ll find:

It’s the same message that I got when I tried to use the rest of the 70% of the refund.

After several months, a post on this forum and several phone calls I’ve finally had my refund as a online debit card.
Call it coincidence but after posting on here a week or so ago I got an email with the code for my refund. The company handling the UK refund is B4B payments. There was an error in the way Fitbit had recorded my phone number with B4B so I had to ring B4B. The number I had got me through to lost cards but after leaving a message they phoned back and sorted the problem. The refund was available immediately for spending.
it appears that the process is not without glitches but in the end I did get the promised refund.

What Fitbit does for refund is really annoying, although I got refund as gift cards, only 30% of it is working the rest I still have to wait, I don’t know until when. I tried to contact for help center, it’s unavailable to contact. Even you get paid, the trouble still there. I don’t know how longer Fitbit will still make us trouble.

I agree completely. Up until this experience Fitbit had been great, replacing faulty watches quickly and efficiently. Sadly this process has been the opposite. I appreciate the mammoth task that they are faced with but there’s got to be a better way.
For me unfortunately it’s the end of my relationship with Fitbit, I bought an alternative brand.
