I am very happy with my ionic, in fact there is now 6 ionic’s in the family now since Christmas, yes there were issues at the beginning watch would crash, when running outside the app would restart and loose my runs, but that has been fixed. The rail trail that I run weather I use my phone, my microsoft bad or the lionic the gps distance has been spot on. Also at the gym every once in a while I would grab the handles to read my heart rate and it’s been within 1 to 3 beats and that is good for me.
And in the family the only one that ever says they have an issue is my 85 year only Mom !!! she tells me that the stairs don’t always count but I’m not sure it’s the ionic but her 😵

An update to my post about four weeks ago. Two big issues are heart rate and GPS accuracy. I wanted to give it some more time and see if things might get better, I was doing something wrong, but no luck. For heart rate accuracy, I've tried re-positioning on my wrist, but hasn't helped much. It still seems erratic, and way off at times (210 bpm for 55 year old? If anything, you would thnk it would register on teh low side). Also, GPS is often off, typically 10% (always seems to read under). Having done some searching since to see if I might need to request a replacement, I see MANY users having the same issues, as far back as October. Would be nice to know from FitBit if these are being worked on. If not addressed, I'll have to move to something else. Would be a shame given the cost. Wondering if it was a design trade-off for battery life, as that seems quite good.

Likewise. Has there been any statement regarding the hear beat monitor? On a 5K today my hear beat rose to 160-190 in 5 mins then towards the end jumped at one point form 167 to 209. I am 61 years old and my average heart beat on such a run with Surge was 140 something, not 170 something.
Could someone just tell us if this is going to get better.

Overall let down!
It's an ok activity tracker that is not always very accurate, its heart monitor is more of a random number generator between 60 and 190 for me.
The thing that really makes this over priced is it's not a smart watch at all, it's more of a feature activity tracker watch. Much like the days of feature phones vs smart phones it has some of the features it's just way too under powered to be a smart anything.
Also if you want to actually take advantage of any of the more advanced features this watch has be prepared to have horrible battery life.
I think fitbit owes all of us who bought this refunds or at least partially.

Here is what I would like to see from the fitbit Ionic team:
Full refunds for everyone who wants a refund. Provided that they have documentation of the sale. IRREGARDLESS of where the Ionic was purchased.
Grow the Ionic team. Get some new minds together to fix these bugs fast.
REMASTER the look. Every man on this forum says it's a great size - For women the design is far too large!!
Here is what I'd like to see from the Fitbit Community.
All of these post are well thought out and these members are taking their time to express their unhappiness with the product. For those who say it's too expense to have these issue I'd like you to tell someone who can help. Maybe print out all these post and mail them to the U.S regulators. Actually that's not a maybe, that's a firm recommendation.
For the one's who are having an excellent experience please share if it's out of the box or with trouble shooting. Myself and the people with issues need solutions. I am so bothered by my experience with the ionic that it's in a draw in my desk, battery completely dead. I held out hope for the bugs to be repaired and ran out of the Best Buy return period. No one wants to purchase it from me directly and I lowered the price to a shameful number.
When I read articles that say the ionic will be able to test blood glucose I want to be positive and think okay, the Ionic team is still working. But.. as for today all of my problems have been unresolved, and every time I post, well, I'm sure you know what I experience, especially if you experience the same treatment.
We all want our problems to be heard and not just heard but responded to appropriately. Let's hope for the best.

Having only been a Fitbit consumer for about a month, just from my own experience and from what I've read in the community forums, I'm detecting a negative sentiment regarding how the product is being backed by Fitbit. Iconic is fairly new. All that's been reported is not bad, but some of the items are what I think most/all folks would agree are key to who it's supposed to be targeted for. Maybe these issues are being looked at? Let me know. Maybe they've been looked at and there's nothing that can be done? Let me know, so I'm not waiting and can move on. As others have suggested, it would be great to hear something, and I think this would help with the negative sentiment. Continue to ignore it and you risk losing existing customers, as well as gaining new ones.

I'm happy with my ionic as a fitness tracker but as a smart watch I'm disappointed, especially in the lack of real apps and the app store (I know it's new and everything, but doesn't change my disappointment right now).

Honestly, It's such a shame for a company which bought Pebble Watch with their amazing functuanality to produce so terrible watch. If someone say that this watch are great then this person has never had a good watch. I would love to return my Fitbit Iconic even for half a price. It's not a joke I just want people to know the truth Please consider Xiaomi, Garmin.

well, that's just like, your opinion, man.....
I have the Ionic and i love, love, love it ! I would buy one again tomorrow. I use the GPS to track my runs and I have my music loaded onto it, it tracks my heart rate, calories and sleep patterns and everything works just fine. I have to do a soft restart a couple times a week, it freezes up sometimes. takes a minute to restart it, and it's good to go.
If you want it mainly for email notifications, you bought the wrong product.

I've had this for a little under a week now. My initial impressions aren't too bad. I like the functionality as a fitness tracker. I've had a Fitbit Charge 2 HR for about a year and it's a decent upgrade. The built in GPS is nice, the built in music is nice and the fact that it's water proof is great.
I don't need this to be a smart watch. I have a smart phone that I barely use the "smart" capability of. For me, the Ionic is an improvement over previous models. Based on that I rate this watch as being a nice upgrade.

Just got my ionic this week and I'm pretty impressed with it. First setup took about 15 mins on wifi but once it was setup the rest was easy. Switched my watch face no problem and I added a few apps. I am liking the battery life on this as well, for fitness this thing is great. Better choice than Apple watch for sure if you're looking for a fitness device.

I've been mostly satisfied with mine, and guess I don't understand why people get so worked up....if you don't like it, just return it, and get on with your life.
Now if it worked fine out of the box and then, two months later, it stopped working as when new, then I understand Fitbit will replace as a defective product.
Why would some people return the product and then keep coming here and saying how much it sucks? Really...just get on with it.
Why should you be able to use the product beyond the return period, and then get a refund just because you don't "like" it?

Now that I've worked thru all the various issues and also went with the color I should have to begin with (burnt orange), I am very happy with my Ionic. That said, I whole heartedly believe that Fitbit can do much better with the process of getting users up and running. To begin with, the process for getting music onto the device is far to complicated for a lot of people and requires a computer besides. C'mon Fitbit. For the sake of the less technologically inclined and those who don't own a computer, provide a way to get music on the watch directly from your phone. Also, it tends to be a bit finicky around other devices. I totally believe that this device will only get better as we go forward. It's very comfortable and looks great (my opinion of course) and works well once you get it setup and going. I do not regret getting it all and recommend it to those who can muddle thru some of the pains of setting it up.

Since you have a lot of questions I hope to answer one. From my experience - Fitbit kept telling me help was on the way with firmware updates. And in fact there was a firmware update - but it did not resolve my problem. So now I hope you can understand how one can go well over the 30 day return policy by waiting for the company to resolve the product issue. Prior to this experience I had no reason to doubt Fitbit's promises.
Just like you have the right to question openly, other members of the community have the right to voice their opinions. I personally would have benefited from hearing some of these posts prior to buying. There is a period of trial and error that consumers experience when a new device rolls out. Unfortunately it doesn't work well for some. Perhaps it's just a problem in some of their manufacturing plants.
Either way - I stand by everyone who voices their valid concerns about this product and everyone who has had a great experience. I would encourage people to keep talking about their experience with this product because it will help the community to be aware if the product is getting better or if they aren't changing at all.

Most disappointed, basically all it is ,is a watch. the ionic has let me down
Can’t sync on a brand new iPad so I cant change clock face , cant add music, cant download my statistics. All it is ,is a watch. If I could get my money back I would.
It does sync on my wife’s iPad Pro but it’s her iPad not mine . If she takes it with her which she does , then what can I do. Nothing that’s what I can do NOTHING.
Even when I do sync on my wife’s iPad Pro it takes half an hour. The time drops out , I have to re sync again and again. The ionic keeps shutting down , have to sync again.
VERY DISAPPOINTING

Have you tried syncing to your smart phone? It works great for IOS, I've tried it on Windows phone, but not enough to see the quality of the syncs. I do have a windows laptop I use, but I do not look at my results anywhere except for my iPhone.
