Any updates from Fitbit on fixing the Wifi bug with the Ionic? Although the sync issues have seemed to tame down I still cannot connect to Wifi - tried everything - calling support, turning on and off bluetooth, reinstalling the app, the device, factory reset, etc, etc.... Nothing works. My network has a very strong signal and is personal not enterprise and I am able to connect any other device to it except the Ionic.
Thought maybe I had a faulty device but I tried another Ionic and had the same exact issue of not being able to connect to Wifi.
Anyone have similar issues and is anyone aware if Fitbit is working on a fix specifically to Wifi connectivity?

To be more specific can connect (eventually) to 2.4Ghz WPA2 with Android.

My Ionic connects to my wifi and I can see it connected to my router but it will not transfer any files. Every time I plug it into charge I get the transferring files scrolling arrow on the wake/notifications screen, so it is connecting to the wifi but it is not syncing with fitbit servers. sync was spotty until I removed the wifi settings and shut wifi off. I setup the watch via Bluetooth and all functions work fine. Except I can't transfer music to it. although I haven't tried since shutting off the wifi. I have the old wifi dongle setup and the fitbit connect and will try transferring music files that way.

1.How do i shut down or turn it off. Don't see it any where.
2. How do i delete text or notes from my ionic? I see them come up an i have lots there every now an then.
This is off topic, you should start your own thread, or better still search the forums as the answers are here, however..
1) On watch keep swiping left until you see the settings app. Select it, scroll.down to about, select.it, scroll.down the shutdown. Select it.
2) You mean notifications? Just swipe the notifications away. Or you can delete all notifications with the option at the bottom.

I have the ASUS RT-AC5300 and when connecting to 2.4G.Hz for WPA2 or WPA it will not connect using my Andriod phone. When I change the router to open it connects. It looks like it is not passing through the Password from the application.

So I can connect with WPA2, I'm using Google Pixel phone with latest Android OS. So I suggest it's something to do with running an earlier Android OS.

@Vigilance, that's a tri-band router, right? And both 5ghz are off for that connection? From looking it up, there's a feature called Smart Connection that could be causing problems:
"ASUS Smart Connect delivers consistent bandwidth by dynamically switching devices between 2.4 and 5 GHz bands based on speed, load and signal strength ; "

Yes it is a Tri-band router.

Same problem here. Setting> About> will show connection to WIFI, then within seconds it will “turn off”.

Has to do with AES vs TKIP. My Asus router is incompatible with this watch unless I remove all security.

UPDATED 2018-04-21
Last month I updated my router from a LINKSYS WRT610N to a SYNOLOGY AC1900 to get improved security and management software features. Unexpectedly, the upgrade also solved my Wi-Fi connection problems with the Ionic. As long as I keep the Ionic plugged into a power source I can upgrade firmware, sync music and use any of the other Wi-Fi features, from any where in my house.
ORIGINAL POST
Before you give up on the Ionic try this. Keep the Ionic within 1 metre of the router. Your router may have a very strong signal and the Ionic may see the network, but the Ionic has a very weak WiFi radio and when it tries to connect by broadcasting the password to the router or do other handshake protocols the router can't hear it calling. So, no connection; WiFi is a two way communication. I have a pretty powerful Linksys router, and the Fit-Bit app showed it with multiple bars, but I couldn't connect the Ionic until I tried in the same room as the router. Everything worked fine as long as I kept the Ionic within in that 1 metre.
I can't guarantee that this will fix everyone's problems, but it's cheap and simple to try.

I believe SOME users might have a problem with WIFI because of the following:
If your router provides both the 2.4 ghz and the 5 ghz network with the same SSID the setup process might mix them up. Your phone is probably using the 5 GHZ network and configures the corresponding MAC address on the Ionic, but the Ionic only supports 2.4 GHZ and therefore has the wrong MAC address of the 5 GHZ network instead of the 2.4 GHZ network. So it fails to connect.
(I had this problem before with the setup process of an Amazon Echo. The sync of my Ionic failed every time until I removed the WIFI completely in the settings.)

I bought my Fitbit Ionic today and I am seriously disappointed in it...
I already read that many users had difficulties to get the Fitbit connected with WIFI. It's the same for me! I'm trying for 3 hours already, but it won't connect! My router is working with 2.4 ghz (not 5), for WPA2.
I have other devices connected to my router, I had a Samsung Gear fit2 pro that connected without any problem with my WIFI, but the Fitbit won't!
I already tried to add a new network (the network I use), although it always lists my own network. But if I click on it and if I want to get it connected, after I give my password for it, it says it can't find the network.
My Fitbit is lying just near my router.
I see that the Fitbit app switches the whole time between giving a very weak strength of my WIFI and between giving a strong connection. That switches maybe 12 times in a minute.
If I look at my PC, my phone and my iPad: I see they receive a strong connection of my WIFI, the whole time. But my fitbit is the only one that almost not receive my WIFI connection.
I already unpaired and paired my Fitbit again on my smartphone (Samsung Galaxy J7), but that's not a solution.
I decided to buy the Fitbit Ionic, after I was disappointed in the Samsung Gear Fit 2 pro because of not being trustable. At least my Samsung wanted to connect with my WIFI. This Fitbit can't even do that basic work. And I see many users are having this WIFI problem.
So, I'm really, really disappointed... I paid a lot of money for this Fitbit, but it can't connect with my WIFI??? 😞
Please, tell me what to do. If I can't get it connected, I don't want that Fitbit anymore.

Same problem here: I bought the Fitbit today and it won't connect with my WIFI (under the necessary conditions).
Very disappointed!!!!!!!! Also because it seems that Fitbit doesn't recognize it as a problem of the app or the Ionic... 😞😞

I just recently purchased the Ionic and was having the same problems. My Comcast router broadcast on 2.4 and 5 GHz with the same ID. I just went into the router settings and noticed that the 2.4 GHz mode was only broadcasting 802.11 g,n. However, there was an option to have it broadcast 802.11 b,g,n and that did the trick. My Ionic connected right away. Keeping my fingers crossed!!

You should NEVER have the same SSID on 2.4 and 5ghz!! I even recommend different passwords/Keys! If you have better than 50mbit internet bandwidth, you should also ONLY use WPA2-AES or you will not get faster than 50 on your WIFI. WPA and TKIP are ancient security and will limit your speed to 50mbits! The IONIC is VERY MUCH compatible with WPA2-AES! (As should everything you use unless VERY VERY old!)
I can confirm that the Ionic has a VERY VERY weak transmit signal and if you are far or through several walls the router likely will not see it, therefore no communications! If you try setting it up NEAR your router you might see a difference. I use an ASUS RT-AC88U (AC3100) router and an ASUS AC68U router in a mesh. At my desk ONLY the AC68U can even see the Ionic. Even with 4 antennas the 88U cannot see the Ionic, only the 68U router. When it's close by it is seen by either router.
Your experiences may vary! heh... but went through hell trading out to a different Ionic on my account. Even with a full factory reset of the watch I still had to UNINSTALL the Fitbit app from my phone (2nd Gen Samsung J7 [J-700T] Droid 7.1.1) and reinstall to fix the issue.
ALSO, I have to reset my phone AND Ionic at times to get them to even Sync! The Watch and App are flaky when it comes to setting up and Syncing. You might have to Factory Reset your Ionic several times to get them to Sync up the first time! You might have to reset your phone in order to actually END your Fitbit app to restart fresh after a watch reset. Annoying as hell. I DO KNOW, After the very recent firmware update to the watch I have not had trouble syncing the watch to the phone app.
So, Yeah, Fitbit apps are not the most stable.

Just received Fitbit Ionic Adidas, and had issues connecting to wifi as well as the FITBIT app connecting/maintaining connection to wifi. The issue seems to be with WIFI period regardless of OS. I've seen many complaints on this issue from last year with 1st FITBIT Ionic and now as of March when Adidas edition came out issue still remains. Resetting the unit, removing from wifi as its unable to pair to Bluetooth since wifi isn't working.. Is there an update to FITBIT app and IONIC devices to fix the connection issues?
