My ionic not working properly heart rate steps and sleep data that for me is the last straw. I got the ionic when they first came out now since then because they stopped functioning properly after about a year they replaced it but this is second replacement i have had so they have been okay with that side of it but the watch is crap. The first few months are usually okay but after that you start getting problems now i have been with fibit since the start but wont be buying any more of there watches.

Did you just come to rant to other Fitbit users or did you have a question? My Ionic rocks and gets a week between charging. If yours is acting funny, reset it by holding the back and bottom button for 10 seconds.

It's unfortunate you've had problems with your Ionic. Sometimes trackers die after a few years, usually because the batteries in them are only designed to last a few years. You can purchase additional warranty coverage with a Fitbit purchase, perhaps consider this for your next one to better be prepared for these types of situations.

My latest ionic is not yet a year old like he other 2 so batteries dying
after a few years is bull**ahem** not trying to be offensive just stating the
facts I like Fitbit been with them from the start --

@DannWB I'd previously recommended restarting your tracker and you've not responded if you've tried this or if it's helped. If your Ionic is still within warranty, I'd strongly advise reaching out to Fitbit support as they will be able to replace it if they can't help resolve the problem. Yes, lithium batteries generally die within a few years, though there are certainly exceptions. It's not the fault of Fitbit, all LiPo batteries share this fault, but come with all the awesome advantages of a tiny flat battery with incredibly long power life and no memory effect. The only downside to LiPos is they die, and do so even quicker if the battery in your Ionic isn't charged and discharged regularly. Despite no memory effect, it's wise to fully deplete at least monthly and then fully recharge. Other things like turning off automatic sync or notifications greatly improve battery performance too. I've got several Fitbits, some died around year 3, others are still trekking along on their first battery, amazingly!

Williger,

My Ionic is about 2.5 years old and lasts almost a week between charges, however my device is having the same problems as Danny B. I have done the reset and powered off, as well making sure I’m wearing the device as I’ve always have, yet I’m still not having it track my sleep or my heart rate correctly. My issues seem to have started with the 71.6.19 firmware release. But the frustrating thing is, Fitbit is not acknowledging this issue or trying to address it out tell users they’re working on it.

Hi @KnDHeid, that's unfortunate your Ionic is flaking out. I'm assuming from the time shared it's out of warranty. How are you calibrating the inaccuracy of your sleep? I know mine seems different than perception, and sometimes has false positives where it shows me sleeping while accumulating active minutes and steps, it's inconsistent. So, mine sometimes logs "extra" sleep, though the actual sleep appears inaccurate. Medical professionals tell me they're inaccurate, to begin with. IDK what you mean by inaccurate heart-rates, without detailed explanation. Mine sometimes can have "spikes" that aren't explained, but besides those anomalies, I assume it's relatively accurate. Regarding the firmware, several others have posted suspicion that the update causes problems. While not impossible (bad code could theoretically consume more battery), it's improbable it's the culprit. Unfortunately, there's no way to validate this, as they're closed-source programmed and likely too small of an installed within warranty userbase for them to be concerned.

The sleep is not tracking because I’m not getting a score, just the lines. I’m not wearing it any differently than I had before when everything was fine.

As far as the HR goes, what’s being recorded is WAY out of what is normal. My resting rate is usually around 52, and lately I’m recording 140 while I sleep, or as I wake up and check the time. Or even sitting on the couch doing nothing and I’m registering 160+. With the recent press release about the next update to the Fitbit OS and not including the Ionic, I feel like FB is telling me I have to buy another device, and mine is only 2.5 yrs old, a bit upsetting as far as  I’m concerned.
