Luxe GPS connectivity issues

Hi all! I got a Luxe last week after having my Alta for four years. I'm really happy with the majority of the features and haven't had any major issues.

The only persistent problem is that the Luxe only has GPS signal at my house and about 200m from the house.

I always have my phone with me when I go on runs, so that's not the issue. I always sync the Luxe prior to going to make sure it's connected to the Fitbit app.

I thought maybe there was an issue with my phone's location services, despite not having had issues before. That also doesn't appear to be the case as I'm able to record accurate GPS data in the Fitbit app for the duration of my run without issue, while the Luxe still lost connection 200m from the house. The trouble then, of course, is that I have two activities in the app for the same run - one with GPS and one with heart rate data.

I then thought that maybe having the Fitbit app recording GPS at the same time was the issue as maybe the Luxe couldn't sync, but despite being able to sync and having accurate GPS location in the Fitbit app, in the Strava app and in Google Maps, Luxe couldn't find a GPS signal until I was once again within 200m of the house.

I'm at a loss for ideas and haven't found anything on the forums or elsewhere online so I thought I would post here and see if anyone has any ideas!

Still a lot of problems with the GPS tracking on the Luxe and Huawei phone P20 Lite. I tried everything,

it only records once after rebooting the device and then I have to reboot each time both the phone and the Luxe to get a map trace of my activity. I could use the App instead but no feedback on the watch face and no bike mode from the app. Come on Fitbit you must be joking here is there something that works? Also I cannot get the mindfulness session to record my heart beat average when running from the app. How do I get the watch to work properly or should I return the item for refund?

Hi @pcoloma  the problem seems to be your phone isn't compatible with the Fitbit app - click to learn more.

There is a procedure listed for the P20 Lite that is supposed to solve the issue. I had no such problems with the Healthmate and Withings devices that uses the GPS from the phone, nor Moov bracelet, or Garmin early straps and Suunto. The problems are recurring with Fitbit only!

Isn't the issue across all Huawei phones?  I thought its more to do with the sanctions in the US that doesn't like American companies too closely connected with some Chinese based companies anymore.

I thought that dispute was over. It's still Google Inside all the way. I suspect a glitch at the bluetooth gps level. App works great tracking walks and runs so its a connection problem between watch and phone...

Thx

Hi there, @PurrPrinThom. Welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided in your post about the issue with the GPS. I understand where your concern is coming from.

If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend taking a look at this help article Why isn't GPS working on my Fitbit device?

Hope that helps.

Hi MarreFitbit, thanks for the response. I have already read the help article and since it doesn't address my question and the troubleshooting had no effect I thought I would post.

As said in the post, the phone has no issue connecting to GPS or the Luxe, and the GPS works for 200m before turning off, indicating it has access to the GPS sensors.

Same. My Luxe syncs sporadically by itself, when I do it manually it take 10+ tries. But when the device is connected to its charger it syncs fine. The Fitbit App has no problem accessing the phones GPS sensor, and my Luxe can only hold a GPS connection for 1 min like clockwork.

I'm glad it's not just me! I thought I was losing it since I couldn't find any posts or other people with the same issue.

I'm in touch with customer service. We went through basic fixes, nothing helped and the issue was escalated. Previously I used an inspire, still had it so I paired it, just to see if somehow my phone changed in that time. Had none of the above issues with the inspire.

I previously had an Alta, which had no GPS whatsoever. So at first I thought maybe it was an issue with my phone. If you find a solution please let me know! I've done all the basic fixes as well and nothing has helped.

I have yet to find a fix, I have to take my phone with me when I go running anyways so I just use the app to track my GPS

I did just talk to customer support who had me Clear User Data in the settings and remove the device from the account and then set it up as normal.

I did just a quick walk (5 minutes) and it tracked the whole thing! So this may have solved it. I normally run with Bluetooth headphones, which may screw the whole thing up and I'll let you know tomorrow (already did my run for the day) if it stays solved or if the headphones cause further issues.

I just tried this fix as well, after downloading the new update. Doesn't work for me.

I haven't had the option for a new update yet but yeah, as of this morning the fix doesn't seem to have worked. I had 3 minutes and 30 seconds of GPS connectivity before it lost it for the entire rest of the run. Phone recorded it no problem.

This is really starting to get on my nerves. My luxe will sync randomly throughout the day and then other times nothing for hours. Hav you tried resetting your network setting on your phone? I've read that it helped some iPhone users

I don't have the same syncing issues, although I did have significant trouble getting it set up as it struggled to connect to my phone.

I haven't reset the network settings. I will try it but first I want to save all my wifi passwords lol. I don't have an iPhone though so I'm not sure if it'll help.

Have you tried it?

I have a Samsung S20 Fe 5G, I read online resetting your network setting  might help with pairing. My Fitbit has so many issues, first it wouldn't connect to my phone during start up, I found if I connected it to its charger even though its fully charged it would pair. Though if its not connected to its charger manually syncing takes 10+ tries and bluetooth connected keeps dropping.

Not really any solution, but a bit of an update. The Luxe now tracks GPS as long as I don't have any other bluetooth devices connected. Sucks a bit for me, as my headphones are bluetooth and it can sync when they're connected but I guess that's what's causing the issue for me. Not sure if yours is the same!
