4th July weight loss! Post your goals

Hi all,

After a couple of these keeping me on track ish since mid jan i thought i would start another one, hoping some of you will join me

SW 244LB

CW 230LB

GW 209LB

My husband is in the military and has been deployed since late Jan, he should be back sometime in June my aim was to hit the 209lb mark before he got back but that's looking less realistic after some busy scary weeks with my 2 year old having a cancer scare but as a mini goal I want to be under 216lb by the start of June, then I will be 2st off since he deployed. I have a school reunion in July and my graduation in October so lots to work towards this year!

How are you all doing? What are your goals?

Barbara,

I know how you feel about forgettig your FitBit when it's on the charger.  Mine was due for a charge and I told my husband I had to finish all the laundry and clean the last of the dinner dishes before I could put it on the charger and sit down for 30 minutes while my FitBit charged. He just shook his head and started laughing.  I told him I didn't want to waste any steps. So thanks for the idea to set a timer.  I think I'll set at 30 minute countdown on my phone so I won't forget to put my FitBit back on and waste any steps! 🐵

Down to 173.3 as of yesterday. Wahoo!  Although my original 4th of July goal was to be down to 168, I'd be happy with 171 by Saturday.  I still can't believe that I'm down 27 lbs since I got my FitBit in January.  This little device is the motivation I've needed for years. Love the logging, challenges, and especially the discussion forums.  This is the best addiction ever!

I am so excited that we will keep this going with a Labor Day challenge begining on July 5th, especially since I'll be going on vacation to Disneyland with my family for Labor Day.  I'll need to be as healthy as possible to tackle all the wonderful treats.

Barbara, thank you for the encouragement! YOUR results are inspiring!

I thought I gained 1.5 lbs over the long weekend, but turns out I went from 222.8 on Thursday to 223.6 this morning. Not bad for how much I had to eat! In fact, according to Aria I went from 49.1% fat on Thursday to 47.8% fat today. When I started the challenge I was at 50.3% - so that number was encouraging! Must have been all of that furniture lifting and decorating the house that built all of that muscle. 😉

Another fun, encouraging fact was that I purchased my bridal shower dress on Friday - a Calvin Klein size 14!! Not even 14W. I could hardly believe that my 5'4", 223 pound body fit into a 14! Two months ago, I was barely stuffing myself into my size 18. Little things like that are what keep me going.

Anyways, back on track today with Greek yogurt for breakfast & cherries for lunch. Tried to go for a lunchtime walk, but it's a cold, rainy day in Ohio!

Hope everyone has a GREAT start to their week!! Let's keep going! Looking forward to seeing everyone's progress.

(PS: LOVE the idea of a Labor Day challenge. Let's do it.)

All,

I've opened a new link for our Labor Day challenge.  Under the Discussions board, it's also listed under the Weight Loss link, and the name is "Labor Day Challenge 2015." It starts on Sunday, July 5th, so please feel free to head over there after your July 4th final weigh-in to post your new goals for Labor Day!!

I've been increasing walking, no junk food (well, almost none) loads of veggies straight from the organic farm. I lost 18 but have stalled out. Also, despite the weight loss, I have not gone down a size. In fact, I measure the exact same!! Scary!

Barbara, I hate it too when I forget to wear my Fitbit. I know it's silly, it doesn't change my health, but still. I feel like a school girl wanting the credit. I love your comment about the sitting at the computer activity. How are you doing?

I lost my charger for my fitbit and cannot find it anywhere! I've ordered another one off Amazon, but its been almost a week since I've had an accurate step count.  It makes me feel like the work I've done doesn't count because it isn't logged.  We're traveling for the July 4th holiday so I'll be doing my final weigh in on July 2.  Looking forward to starting the Labor Day challenge next!

Have you noticed weight loss on parts of your body, even if you haven't changed clothing sizes? I am wearing the same size clothing too, although able to fit in some of my clothes that I had to give up wearing because they just got too tight.

I think weight loss affects areas of our body that we may not expect and so it's difficult for us to see it sometimes. I lose weight in my face and chin first which is good, but to me the only thing I'm really concerned about is my protruding belly!

We have both lost 18 pounds, Congrats to us!  Go to the grocery store and pick of two ten pound bags of sugar or potatoes or something...that is about the amount of weight you have lost and isn't it great that extra heavy weight in no longer on your body?!!!  Hang in there, healthy is good!

Fifofum, thanks.  You are right.  Unless my scale is broken, I've lost 2 sacks of potatoes and that's a good thing.  (unless I'm losing brain cells, a distinct possibility)  Congrats to you on your accomplishment too!    By the way, love your nickname.

Hey Bobbyinc, I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels that way about their Fitbit.

The other day I noticed on my email in the morning that my battery was running low. I had already gone to work and my battery charger was at home. I was concerned the thing would not record my daily lunch walk and thought "I guess there is no reason to walk if it's not going to be recorded." Fortunately I did conclude that doesn't matter and walked anyway and better yet, the battery did not die so I made my 10K steps that day.

I have times where I lose weight, but stay the same size too.  I gain weight in my arms, but since it's summer I'm not fiting them into long sleeve shirts and don't notice the size difference.  This time around I took body measurements of my amrs and thighs in addition to typical waist, hips, and chest.  It has shown me where my results are coming from, when I can't see it.  18 lbs is no joke! Keep up the hard work!

So, between the 1st of June and the 25th, I lost exactly zero. I decided to be ok 26th it, cause I'm going strong with my plan and feeling healthier. So today I weighed myself again, and I'm 2 lbs lighter than I was 5 days ago. Yay!!!!

ginnyjones09,

Measuring yourself is a great idea! We all need encouragement for we are tempted daily with commercials, food cooking scents in the air, and just daydreaming about our favorite foods.

I have lost 35 - 45 pounds four times in the last 30 years, but each time I managed to gain it all back. It's not surprising why so many people are obese or overweight, because I know for me, it is the path of least resistance to eat and drink in excess and not exercise. It takes vigilance to stay on track.

Thanks for a great suggestion.

Annegirl,

Good for you, you must be pumped to finally see some pounds drop!

I have to remember to stay off the scale and just note how I feel. The scale can cause so much discouragement when it stays the same day after day. Loose clothing, more energy, feeling stronger, not getting winded so easily, and of course people like you, are the things that keep us motivated.

Congrats!

Thank you! I am pumped :-). It's nice that my family is also super encouraging - they notice a difference even when the scale doesn't, and they are always telling me that it's ok if it takes a while -doing it right is the important part. Health first 🙂

Hi All. Just found the forums. Interesting reading. Nice to see others that are inspired. I have a perfect spouse that supports my completely and runs with me, but this is also encouraging.

July 4 goal for me was 10 lbs, hit that so changed to 15. 3 more days to go. Yay. On the upside, I was walking daily, but now that I've shed a few pounds, I am back to running 3 days a week. I really missed that.
