Wondering if there are any diabetics out there who are using the FB and working towards weight loss? I'm insulin dependent and trying to lose weight but more importantly trying to regain my health and physical strength while balancing everything. A challenge a day! Love to hear your stories....

Got my FB for X-MAS, got serious about it in Jan 15. Diagnosed as Type II in 2004. Using the FB as helped with my eating habits as now I can see what I am eating and the nutritional values. Cut back or eliminated some things as I saw the sodium numbers, carbs, etc...think this is a good fit for me

No, but I am looking at using Fit Pal as well. I walk quite a bit and started back at the gym and have lost 11 lbs and ny numbers have dropped, but still want them lower. Good luck in your quest

Yes I am and it would be very beneficial to have a blood sugar tile on the dashboard. One stop shop for your health.

Just had a check-up with my doctor on Jan. 30th, 2015. Blood test showed only 100 glucose level (5.1 A1C). This after six months of being off all diabetes meds!
AND....
I was telling her that I received a ration of grief from folks here about saying I was cured of diabetes. She told me I was cured. Maybe it's a matter of semantics....
I've been maitaining my healthy life style (eating and exercise) and will continue to do so regardless of whether I'm "cured" or not....

I am also type 2 Diabetic and I also find it very hard to lose weight. I need to make an excerise program. I do walk but not much and I need to step it up some. I am also on Metformin 1000mg and Glipzide.

I am also type 2 diabetic and would really like to see diabetic apps on the dashboard along with blood sugar monitoring.

I use myfitnesspal.com and do not go over 1200-1500 cal. I have the fitbit to monitor my steps as long as you monitor input with output with a deficit you loose. I have been successful coming down 10 lbs now. I will have to change to a cardio machine once I hit a plateau .
I get nauseous when I take diabetic meds.So I have to turn my number's around.

I was diagnosed glycemic intolerant (apparently a precursor to diabetes). My doctor tells me my wieght is my problem (I have high blood pressure to) so am now working to drop 20kg. Got a Vivofit to start with but when the fitbit surge was released I quickly snapped one up. Ive dropped 3kg in 3 months so I think I am headed in the right direction. No change on the BP front as yet but that will no doubt take longer!

Just keep moving. After sitting at your pc for 30 mins. get up and walk for 3 mins.

Hello.
I was diagnosed in 2010 with Diabetes. I worked out a lot and ate less calories and lost 75 pounds. I got my diabetes well under control within a year or so. Unfortunately, I gained 50 pounds or so back and my diabetes got out of control again.
I recently got a FitBit Flex and I am trying to lose the weight again and get my blood sugars in a good range. It's so difficult though!

I am fighting this battle as well. I am being successful loosing going to the YMCA diabetes control program. I lost 13 lbs. by tracking my food on my fitnesspal.com which is connected to the Fitbit. I am trying to become more active. Little by little it is happening. Pain is my motivator. I have a pinched nerve in the back and post foot surgery. I teach swimming 3x a week and I am trying to do more. The biggest hurdle is tracking the food I eat. Connect with me (anrento@hotmail.com) Look like you know the way to loose,just do it again. It is hard work but I am serious about my new lifestyle.

The only objection I have to the word "cured" is that it can lead people to believe that once they are "cured" they no longer have to monitor their glucose or do the things that got their diabetes under control in the first place. I've always said that even though my glucose is well controlled after 15 years of managing it, I'm always 15 pounds and one plate of pasta away from having it rear it's ugly head again. Your doctor isn't doing you any favors if she is using the word "cured". Cured would mean never having to manage it again. After all, no one continues chemotherapy after they have been cured of cancer do they? I'm a very well controlled diabetic, but I'm diabetic for life, and I know it could rear its ugly head again if I let down my guard.

Me I would love to have more diabetic friends. Im type one lost 67 lbs over two years but now Im stuck a med caused me to gain 15lbs back. I need some motivational friends who struggle like I do . It is very hard being diabetic to lose. I have about 80 lbs I need to lose at the moment and I need help. Please add me. Kitha_larie@yahoo.com

Yes, my program at the Ymca Diabetic control group tell me at 187lbs (limit fat to 40 grams a day)
I track my foo diary. They tell you the first goal is to loose 7% of your weigh. I am very close to my goal now.Then I will make my next goal 7% of my weight again.
