Wondering if there are any diabetics out there who are using the FB and working towards weight loss? I'm insulin dependent and trying to lose weight but more importantly trying to regain my health and physical strength while balancing everything. A challenge a day! Love to hear your stories....

Hi,
I am on insulin and am overweight. It would be real nice if there was a place I could add my Blood Surgars and insulin intake on FB. I just joined yesterday, so still trying to figure this all out. Need to loose 56 lbs.

Hey Jon, good luck. Try to limit the times when our weakness /mind over ride our objectives. I know being around others that work at meeting similar health goals help me. However, my best friend happens to be just the opposite, eating most anything at anytime. When I'm with him, it makes my battle to control myself more difficult.
Take care,
Specguy

Diagnosed a year ago. Think fitbit is wonderful. I have tried gym membership and other sites to track excersis with not much luck. Fitbit has got me really working towards a low A1C. Ive asked about putting a glucose tracker on the dashboard so I don't have to track on two different sites. Hope you find fitbit as helpful as I do

soapsuds,
Didn't the vegan diet help bring down your weight and BG levels? Did you limit pasta, breads, flour, rice, etc. basically empty carbs?
Some people get down to normal weight and A1c. Hope it help you to eat lots of veggies.

Thanks for the Dr Fung link.. Going to take a look at that. I am also a big fan of some of Dr. Joel Furhman. His latest book is a great read; the End of Dieting: The End of Dieting on Amazon
He advocates getting more nuttiants per calorie in our diet; primarily from all things green and leafy. Nothing fadish here; solid advice.

Hi! I have diabetics, and I use my fitbit to track steps, most days. Right now due to surgery I am off insulin and all dibetes meds. Surgery was due to gastroparisis, which is a complication from dibetes. And it worked - - -the surgery worked!!! I am down almost 81 pounds. Lots of careful eating, doing as the doctor ordered, and exercise. Now if the A-fib would just go away! Guess it is just another bump in the road!

That would be wonderful to have a Glucose Tracker on Fitbit. You would clearly be able to correlate physical activity, diet etc to current glucose levels.

I did a search and found out to have the option to log glucose you must have created your fitbit account before Septermber 2014. That's why I don't have it; my account was created in April 2015.
