@OCDOC That's wonderful!!! I hope to someday know how you're feeling. I know that you've worked hard for it. Congratulations and enjoy, you deserve it!

Newsflash check-in!!

Worked out of town all weekend, ate smart, maybe a bit dry but today the scale says......

198.4!! (Goal 200)

Ran into a lot of people I haven't seen in ages...the 'omg you've lost weight' never gets old 🙂

New 'goal' is 189 (so-called 'Ideal'..I'm still overweight according to the BMI charts), but my real goal is to stay sub-200 for as long as possible. I am giddier than becomes a middle-aged guy, but I don't care...It's been forever since my weight started with a '1'..

Thanks to all and these threads..having to report every week REALLY KEEPS ME MOTIVATED!  Rob

@OCDOC Congrats on the weightloss!!! I too am hoping to get out of the 200's. I will eventually and am hoping it will be this year. I'm limited in what I can do but a little goes a long way. I can start with changing my food intake.

I've never seen "Tender Mercies". But it could be something to look into.

oh my have I missed alot since I've been away!!  Good news, the forums are finally displaying like they should so I can easily read & post again Smiley Happy   May is a hectic time with work & son's school activities. I haven't been eating the best nor getting no where near as many steps as I would like the past couple of weeks.  We'll see what Thursday's weigh-in brings but a sneak peek at the scale this morning was indicating a gain.  Tonight is a choir concert and tomorrow night is Relay For Life meetings....  Here is a quick recap of where I have been (the colored results are my stats since being MIA)

Hi @Bogdel I'm 164cm tall, so about 5ft 4. According to my Fitbit I'm in the healthy BMI range but I would love to get down to at least 130lbs so I can say I have lost 4 stone.

Thank you for your kind words Smiley Happy

@ca-north Your stats are about the same as mine! And eating clean is so hard! I am having to make "NEW" favorite foods.

CW - 171     You know, I have forgotten what I wanted to lose by the end of this challange.  But as crazy as life is, I'll be happy with just a few pounds.

Best Answer

@SunsetRunner Thx 🙂  It's been ages since I saw Tender Mercies, but I remember really liking it.

Agree that food (what, when, and how much) is the real player with weight loss..I do some exercise but I've been very strict re diet!  Keep the faith, it will drop 🙂  Rob

Day 2 of revitalized diet ambitions.

Ate clean - work dinner event and had grilled fish, no bread, and no alcohol.

Didn't drink enough water.
Logged food.
8300 steps.

Since eating right is the hardest for me, I give myself a B- for today.

Weekly checkin. I was doing great, staying under 150, down at 148, and then came the weekend.  I had two First Communion parties and a Mother's Day dinner with my kids.  Unfortunately, I did not practice my new healthy habits and cake and a couple cookies at the parties, and nachos at our Mother's Day dinner.  Even my 5k walk with family at the Race for the Cure didn't save me.  😞  So I spent the last couple of days trying to get back to where I was.  I have a very small loss to report, but I'll take it.   Next week, will be another big week with my son graduating from college.  I have to celebrate that!  But will try to do so reasonably.

USW- 173    (10/01/15)

CSW- 152.8 (03/26/16)

PW-   151.6  (04/10/16)

PW-   149.4  (04/16/16)

PW-   149.4  (04/26/16)

PW-   149.6  (05/03/16)

CW-   149.4  (05/10/16)

GW-   147     (05/28/16)

UGW- 135

Loss this week:  0.2lbs (ughh)

Total loss this challenge:  3.4lbs

Total loss since Oct:      23.6lbs

Sorry for the long list there.  It makes me feel better to see total losses since the weekly losses are so slow for me.

Keep it up everyone!  Good Luck and have a great day!

ok... been 2 weeks since I could get on here to report...  I need to start saving my stats somewhere - don't have time to look them back up on here!  Love this group - it's so active!  Long story short - been holding steady.  Now to start losing before this challenge is over...  that will be one advantage to that tooth excavation (yup, excavation) I had done yesterday - I will be on liquids (self imposed) until that crater closes!  I should drop a few over the next couple of days

Not a great day. Foodwise did ok till the glass of wine at dinner - was unwinding after a crappy day. Only one glass - but I know from experience it has a big impact.

2 hours later, hadn't gotten enough steps in so my daughter (9) and I went for a walk around the block before bed. We were having fun doing short sprints when my ankle turned over and I went down like a ton of brick. Now I'm scrapped up with a monster sprained ankle.

Very frustrating. It's been iced, bound and is elevated. Here's hoping it doesn't turn out too bad... but experience says it may be a big one.

Sigh.

Weigh in day for me! I am pleased to report a tiny loss this week even though it’s probably related to getting 10 inches of hair cut off yesterday – but hey I’ll take it! Smiley Tongue   This will be my fourth hair donation totaling 46 inches so far.  Our local Relay For Life sends the donations in to Pantene Beautiful Lengths and Wigs for Kids.  It’s a great feeling to know I’m helping to make a difference --- on tap next Wednesday – time to donate blood again!

Ok stat time – I am like you @HelenKr --- need to see them all because my progress is slow too but none the less it IS Progress!! Smiley Very Happy

@IamRBrown – hope you heal quickly!

@ca-north – way to go on trying to get in your steps!  I feel your pain with the sprained ankle Smiley Surprised I had a really bad one 1.5 years ago….  It took a little over 6 months to heal and I had to wear a brace.  My doctor said it would have healed quicker if I had broken it!  Hope yours doesn’t give you too much grief & you heal quickly!!

I have signed up for a few virtual 5K's to help keep me motivated.  Hoping the weather cooperates so I can complete one this weekend.  I prefer to do it outside but I always have the trusty treadmill Smiley LOL  Hope everyone has a great week #KeepMovingForward

@Chlz1997 Heather -  Slow progress adds up!  Good for you!  And how lovely that you donate your hair.  I think that's wonderful!   I suspect most of us have been touched by cancer in our families and that is lovely way to do something meaningful to help!

Miracle Monday 198.4

Today 198.0

UGW 189?

Two things:

1) Apocalypse Now was robbed at the 1980 Oscars..I'm using it because it is one of my fave films ever.

2) I thought I avoided all 'before' pics, but my wife 'helpfully' pulled this out of her cell phone. Face blocked because it's embarrassing..

@OCDOCRob - I looked up best picture for 1980 - Kramer vs Kramer.  I loved that and also Terms of Endearment that you didn't like for 1984.  Two chick flicks I guess!

Best Answer

@HelenKr

I respect KvK and Terms of Endearment as movies...I guess I have issues with 'tear-jerkers' regardless of their quality. I cried during the 'father-son' interaction at the end of The Lego Movie for Pete's sake 🙂

There's no crying in weightloss!!  😉

No crying in weight loss in my house!! But sometimes there is crying in weight gains @OCDOC!

Thank you for sharing that, @RubyH. I already made that decision as well: less than 10% carbs for the rest of my life. That allows me to indulge on an ice cream every once in a long while, but I removed most whites from my diet (sugar, flower, rice, and potatoes, which turn into sugar- and then into fat - as soon as they are assimilated by our body). The challenge for me right now is turning these down in the homes that I am visiting in France and Romania. So far, I did great. I was offered some delicious home-made pastries and I gracefully turned them down "for health reasons". Once people learned that "I am not allowed" to eat bread, potatoes, or sweets, they will offer me the healthier treats (fish, salad, etc.).

Confession: I did have a bread roll on the plane on my way to France, but I did not touch any of the deserts. Sometimes we need to demonise certain foods in order to remove them from our temptation list (smiling).

Keep it up, @RubyH !

@Chlz1997 thanks for the encouragement! Ankle was sore today but I'm hopeful it is only a "medium" sprain. I've had some pretty bad ones in the past two.

Ok day for me all considered.
Food a B+ --) I had a half sandwich at a working lunch but otherwise good.

Didn't walk anywhere near 10K bc of ankle.

But, I'll take it..
