Have you lost weight since you got your Fitbit?

I am the exact same weight as I was when I got my Flex 3 1/2 months ago!

How about you?

I'm hoping with Spring here and Summer around the corner, that my walking will increase.

Good for you. Get ready to keep walking and running for the rest of your
life. How many steps do you shoot for each day?

Doing 15K/day is a good challenge. I have been doing 12K/day for 2 1/2
years without a missed day. But It's a big jump up to 15K. Good for you!

I am on my 3rd Fit-Bit. I have found it to be a great tool for losing weight. You have to use all of the tools that it gives you for it to be a good tool. If you use the goal functions of the app such as the hourly walk or the food and exercise tools it becomes much more effective. Hope this helps..

I lost over 50 lbs in 2018, and have muscle definition that I haven't had in over 30 years. Fitbit does help keep me moving, but it's important to understand that exercise is not the key to weight loss. It's what you eat, when you eat, and how often you eat.

As long as your insulin levels are high, you will gain weight, guaranteed, no matter how hard you exercise. Insulin is a fat storage hormone; you won't burn fat unless you bring it down! So yes, I do exercise every day, lifting weights and getting the most out of cardio sessions, I average well over 10,000 steps daily, and I make sure I don't get too sedentary (I work in ecommerce, it's easy to do this).

But the biggest difference has come from giving up starchy and sugary foods, eliminating nearly all processed and restaurant food, cutting alcohol to almost nothing, and fasting intermittently every week, PLUS moving more according to the principles of NEAT (non-exercise thermogenesis). Not exercising, necessarily. Just moving. Focus on your active minutes over steps.

Yes, I have found I have to watch my caloric intake.  All the athletics in the world don’t work by itself.

Exercise is great on many levels, however you can't outrun or walk off a bad diet! weight loss is 99% what you don't eat and 1% exercise!!

It's a Recipie... A pinch of this and a dash of that.

But I have found that it's more a 50 / 50.mix for me anyway.

I got my wife a Fitbit for Christmas.  Then weighed myself after New Years and saw that all the office snacking (our vendors have good taste, too good) and midnight munchies resulted in a 12 pound weight gain in the 5 weeks or so from Thanksgiving. And that was with a bunch of hiking and snowboarding during that time period.  I was furious with myself.

So I got a Fitbit for myself on January 8 as a conscious effort to reverse that trend.  Cut out all the snacking, cut out the starch (pasta is the devil), went on a modified keto diet, and made a point to be very active.

Averaging a little over 17K steps a day, with 60+ minutes exercise, logging all my food, and an average calorie deficit of about 1,800 per day has resulted in me losing 17 pounds in less than a month, only about 15 pounds from my target weight.  Very stoked on this and am keeping up the momentum.  Fitbit keeps me very honest and while it isn't everything, it really helps!

See... It works with You.

FitBit Knowledge is the power to change one's habbits and promote good
ones.

The results speak volumes to your resolve to take back control of your
life.

I am starting to repurchase my wardrobe and I look and feel Great!

10 pounds from my goal and in maitenance mode at 194 lbs.

Winter routine agrees with me but can't wait for the warmer weather to hit
to allow me to crush the last 10# in this spring.

Keep up the good work.

Remember... It's your new Lifestyle.

All good. Please be careful to not go too far with the calorie deficit.
Eliminating snacking probably has the greatest impact. Congrats on your
progress, and I wish you the best of luck in reaching your goals!

Thanks Eddy. Congrats on achieving your goals and the positive impact it's made on your life.

Although I set my goal weight at 205, 195-200 is really where I want to be at.  I've just been wobbling between 225 and 235 for too long, exercising but getting complacent from time to time.

I'd also add, cutting out beer for a month really helped.  Although had a few during the Super Bowl, I managed to erase the minor gain that happened as a result.  The weight is flying off fast as a result of the conscious effort, both diet and pushing very hard on cardio exercise.

There are some hikes in my area I want to do this spring/summer that will take a lot of endurance to complete and I'm elated to be getting back in shape to complete them.

You're absolutely right.  It is a lifestyle change and that's exactly what I needed!

Thanks!  I hear you about the calorie deficit.  It just happens.  I'm still consuming about 1,800 to 2,000 calories a day and generally don't feel starving at any point.

Kettle corn, peanut brittle, pretzels, chocolate-covered pretzels, chocolate truffles, etc. all laying around the office and they are the devil!  It takes a lot of willpower to steer clear of them but have been successful.

One thing I'd add about Fitbit is that I never realized how little water I consumed prior.  It didn't use to be that way; now I am making a conscious effort to drink at least 3/4 gallon over the course of a day.

The good thing is that you haven't gained.  I find joining challenges with friends helps me increase my steps.  I've been with Fitbit since Dec 2014.  I am hooked.  I get the best results when I stay consistent.  Good luck Rnda.  🙂

My weight is more or less the same (unless you consider 1 lb "gaining"), but I have no need to lose.
