High calories burned when ill?

Hello everyone ☺

I just got my fitbit HR yesterday and I think it's really cool,  but I'm also extremely ill right now (I think it's a bad flu)  and I still haven't even got out of bed yet and it's 2:50pm.

My question to all of you,  is that despite only getting up once in the night,  my resting heart rate is 130 and my calories burn is 1730... That's pretty **ahem** high.  I had extreme shivering for half an hour despite being hot to touch._.

My stats : female,  20,  5'5, 119lbs

Could it be right?  Thanks 🙂

My Fitbit model doesn't have a heartrate monitor, so I don't really have experience with that feature, but I assume that when your heart rate increases, the Fitbit assumes you are exercising, and calculates calories burned based on that.  I don't know if we burn extra calories while fighting illness, but I suspect that if we do, it's a negligible amount, and not close to what we'd burn if we were going out for a walk.

I hope you feel better soon!

Thank you for your reply 😊 yes I thought it might be an overestimation,  luckily I have no appetite so I'm not tempted to eat all these projected calories lol xD
