I just lost my first 10 pounds since 11/11. (Which was a miracle because I had wine and cake every night over Thanksgiving and Christmas.) I called my friend Natalie to celebrate. Then she challenged me to lose another 10. Now I am challenging you! Who is up for the challenge?!

Hi Julie,
I started Focus T25 on Monday and that includes a nutrition guide. It's a lower carb diet since I have alot of weight to lose. Since Christmas I've lost about 10 pounds.
I am more than willing to receive any help hints you might have, though. I'm pretty new to fitness and eating healthy. 😉

That is awesome! Good kick start with the 10 pounds! I am not familiar with Focus T25. I am doing the Body By Vi Challenge but have a good handle on nutrition as well. 😉 Have you run into any obstacles since you started? Are you focusing on nutrition and just getting steps in with your fitbit? Or are you hitting the gym? What have you found works for you?

I think each person should set their time limit. I am going to lose my 10 pounds in 1 month bc I am going to be aggressive. But I don't want to impose that on anyone. For instance, I am doing meal replacements and working out every day. Oh yeah and not drinking alcohol...So 1 month is realistic.
What sounds like a challenge to you given everything on your plate? How are you going to tackle it? increasing steps? working out? nutrition? That will help determine a realistic timeframe for achieving your 10 pounds. Am happy to help anyone figure that out if you need it. 😉

T25 is a beachbody program. It involves a daily 25 minute workout (that is intense!!!) and include a nutritional guide. Basically I'm on a low carb diet. I've been eating about 1100 calories a day. Today was the end of week 1 and I lost 11lbs! and 2 inches on my waist.
The only thing I'm stilling looking up is a good protein powder for weight loss/meal replacement. I did read up on some, but can't figure out which one is a good choice. Do you have any advice?
I'm going to give myself two weeks to lose ten pounds. At the rate I'm going that shouldn't be a problem.

I am in for 5 lbs in 30 days. I would love to do 10, but it would not work for me. My big problem is my dietary choices. I try to eat clean, but at night I fall for wine and cheese (too much, usually) and this interferes with achieving my goals. So, I am in. No wine or cheese for 30 days. I can do this...Starting now!

@Cyradis - Oh gotcha! Sounds pretty intense! one thing to watch as you do it...with your 1100 calories...are you eating enough. If you are working out and eating your 1100 and aren't losing...your body may actually need a bit more. nothing crazy...100-200 more calories. Make sure you have good protein around your work outs. chicken, cheese etc. Check out www.overview.vi.com. the first part. I think it might help you with your protein powder needs. I use it and lose it. To be up front, I also promote the challenge...but it is a great value and nutrition compared to competitors.
@sharebear 1963 - I hear you! The alcohol can be a killer! I love a few glasses of wine but at 140 calories a pop, they add up quickly! We can do this!

Not sure if this is helpful...I was working with a bariatric doctor a fe years ago. He showed me this formula for weight maintenance. I found it so helpful to know. This is for most people...some burn faster or slower.
Formula for Maintaining Weight Loss
(current weight) x (11 cals)= resting weight maintenance for women
(current weight) x (12 cals)= resting weight maintenance for men
When you lose weight your metabolism slows, 15 cals for every 2.2 pounds lost so you must subtract these cals from the above formula to maintain. Will take about a year for your metabolism to adjust.
Example for a Woman who loses 50 pounds
Start Weight - (200 pounds) x (11cal)= 2200 cal to maintain 200 pounds.
End Weight – (150 pounds) x (11cal)= 1650 cal
(50 pounds lost/2.2) x (15cals)= (22.73) x (15cals) =341cals
1650-341=1309
So to maintain her weight, She must target 1309 cals a day resting in order to maintain her weight.
This is why exercise is critical during maintenance!

Sounds good! I'm in too! I'm doing my 10,000 steps a day and logging my food. Eating as few carbs as I can and no sugar and I'm doing strength/resistance training as well. I'm not doing any crazy workouts... I feel like I should be doing something more strenuous to get my heartrate higher, but the calorie deficit is still good so I should lose weight right? Here's hoping!! 🙂

jr1965 Is that a total of 20 including the 6 you have lost...or an additional 20? That is pretty agressive. What have you done to lose the 6? Let me know if you want to chat to strategize. My cell is 202-271-7687. Julie
