I am 78 and exercise every day on my treadmill and diet all the time. Marilyn and I would enjoy being in a supportive group. Does this site work usually or its it difficult and frustrating? Glenda

I agree!!! Exercise will give you better health but losing weight depends on what you eat. Skip junk food and eating between meals. Eat fewer calories, more protein and fiber. It is so worth it. I also find protein drink powder helpful as I can mix up just the number of calories and grams of protein I need instead of buying protein drinks that are too much for small people. The powder costs less too.

Well, I am in the mid-50s and I tried being in shape. It is such a fragile age. We can't be in gym at all times nor experiment with our delicate guts with trendy smoothies out there or do hard work-outs. I think by this time we should know to harness the desired weight we will want to maintain that to just lose it right away here I readhttps://mangoclinic.com/successful-weight-loss-journey-tips/ 😊 For me TIp#4 worked- FDA approved weight loss pill worked for me without risking much. I am not hooked onto it. But I do feel it made a difference I lost 2 kilos. At mid 50, with 5'3 height and being 78 kilos is tough. Furthermore, Tip#2 mentioned cooking with spices like ginseng and ginger. I have a spice-tooth so I loved cooking alternatively. Plus I have been handling hunger pangs with chugging water.
Best of luck !

Hi ajppep, Thanks for your emails. I wondered whether Fitbit might not work on it's own which is why I'm trying to see how I can use it with a programme based on walking. I must admit that I could not rely on myself to ignore the foods you mention! But I'm going to see if I can fit Fitbit into the mix.
But, keep up the motivation and strong discipline you've established.

@MCarr I'm 78 and have been reading on my treadmill and occasionally on my bike for decades. I have perfect health by mistake. I started exercising thinking it helped with weight control. Now I think it just keeps you healthy. Reading is the only way I can "enjoy" exercise and it helps that it is such a habit, that takes no daily decision making; just routine. I would feel guilty wasting all that time reading if I was just sitting, which is unhealthy.

Hello again everyone 🙂
Hope everyone is doing well in these cover days. I am so happy to report that I just hd my annual Dexa scan and my Osteoporosis is rolling back! No doubt this is due to the walking and also taking AlgeCal and Strontium and fixing my diet. I am back in the oespeopenia level which of course is not perfect but a huge improvement from Osteoporosis.
As Glenda says exercising is for our health and I ride my bike in the woods an hour each day and walk also. It used to be the other way around with me trying for 10,000 tips each day and then I discovered riding my bike which I love. However I am getting back to the walking as well as that the weight bearing exercise that I need to keep my bones healthy.
I lost 30 lbs in December an have kept it off so I feel great.

@MarilynL Your bike is tons better for keeping or building thigh muscle which is important too. Walking doesn't help thighs at all. Today is weekly weigh in day. I was hoping for better.

I agree, water aerobics is great!. I have fibromyalgia and exercise in water doesn’t hurt....until later for me. The pools have been closed here in NC. since March so I don’t know when I’ll be able to get back to it. When you get a chance you should try it.

Glenda I will be delighted if bicycle riding is building my thigh muscles. The walking also builds the rest of the lower body including the hips which is the most important when I comes to breaks adn falls. they need to be strong.
I took a real spill 2 Wednesdays ago and am happy to report that all is well! whew! People -look into getting some Arnica pills adn cream for your medicine chest. Its homeopathic does not interfere with any other meds I believe. Is inexpensive about $10 a box from Amazon. Its for bruising swelling and pain and works like a charm

I am 64 and started walking after being diagnosed "disabled" from truck driving due to Sleep Apnea and a truck driving accident....I was doing well and started to lose weight and feel good about myself..then my knee became unbearable with pain...Bone to bone is what the ex ray shows...so disappointed..
