This week has been good, 3 pounds total lost. Curious if anyone experiences the same thing I do? I lose all my weight in 2-3 days, then the other 5-4 days of the week I stay at that same weight. I even gain a pound here and there and drop it all back by the next weekly weigh in. I know everyday weighing is bad  but I like seeing the progress. I do not change my diet throughout the week, I only allow myself one treat meal (not day) a month. I'm wondering if my body is going through an adjustment period during those days I'm not dropping pounds? I mean at 5"3 and considered Large frame, i'm around 60 pounds still overweight according to my "healthy BMI" so why am I not dropping more?

awood- you are losing a lot of weight quickly. We sometimes forget our bodies are designed to do the right thing for our survival. It is a biological process, not a mechanical one. We do not have that level of control over every tiny bit. The scale is only one measure of how you are doing, and it isnt the best. You can measure yourself, look at blood pressure, blood sugar nos., look at your energy level and mood, etc. Sometimes if we cut back too far on calories, or eliminating fat, it takes our bodies while to figure out what makes sense - hold on to fat? Lower metabolism? If we eat some salt, or if the weather is very hot, or if pur food has too many chemicals, that all effects us. So do hormones. I sometimes forget to focus on the big picture: as I eat healthier and become more active, everything else will fall into line. That is the best i can do for myself, and then all the biological processes will respond.
Medically, they say the best weight loss is about 1-2 pounds weekly.
You are developing great healthy habits and changing your relationship with food. That takes a lot of stength and is a major success. And the scale doesnt even know that.

Thank you. I am a avid follower of all the big weight loss shows out there. My favorite is Extreme Weight Loss with Heidi and Chris Powell, and seeing their contestants on there dropping 50-100 pounds in 3 months are pushing me to do more. I have had great success and will continue but I need to sit back and realize it's a process, not an overnight quick fix. My body is not the same as their body, I only have 75 pounds to lose total where they had hundreds. It gets so frustrating seeing that number on the scale drop day after day then stop for the next 4-5 days. I didn't even think about the things you mentioned. Blood sugar, energy, blood pressure, mood, etc. I'm 100% happier and far more energetic than I was 8 weeks ago. Thank you for bringing that up.

@awood08  I'm a huge fan of those shows too! In fact I am trying to follow the diet book by Dr. Holly from the Colorado clinic where they go for Extreme Weight Loss.  It's a great book, you should check it out if you haven't already.

I *only* have about 25# to lose, so it's coming off pretty slowly for me, but darn it, if I'm not trying to actively lose weight, my weight is constantly "creeping" up, up, up, which is what has happened for the last 4-1/2 years since I've gotten married and not been as careful with my food and exercise program. If I can bust this weight off in the next few months, then I can just work on maintaining which brings it's own balancing act!  We can do this!

Those extreme weight loss shows are just that...way too extreme. I saw powell intervirpewed and he said they have constant medical supervision and some of them revert back. NOT a good plan. There is no quick fix. It took time to f
Gain the weight, it takes time to take it off. I find those shows totally disrespectful of people's emotional struggles, their reasons for gaining the weight, the bad havits etc. while we take off the weight gradually, we are also changing our thinking and habits nd handling our feelings differently, and changing our relationships wih our bodies and food. That takes time. I know for me it would be easy to go from using food as an emotional crutch to using an extreme diet as a crutch. I really want to develop a way of thinking and being that lasts the rest of my life so I never struggle with this again.

Thanks for the outlook. I upped my calorie burn and was finally able to break the 165 mark.  Today I weighed in at 164.0. Plus average of 1/2 inch in measurements. Can now get in my jeans! I will continue the higher calorie burn. Thanks again.

@awood08 My weight loss has followed this exact same cycle! I have 25lbs to loose, so it's pretty slow going. (Even though I've been at a 1000 calorie deficit and in Ketosis for 5 weeks). But I'll stay the same weight for 5 days or so (even jump up a pound) then loose 1-2. I suppose it's the biological cycle. Seemed counter intuituve to me though.

Awesome job! You don't have very far to go 🙂

I just uped my calories to 1500 a day to compensate the fact I'm working out and burning way more than when I started, hopefully that will kick my metabolism in the butt and speed things up.

Good luck on your final 25!!

I've been away travelling but I'm finally back.  I've lost practicaly nothing since July 15th, so I'm pretty disappointed with myself.  But driving back and forth across the country, literally, kept me on my butt for 10 days straight.  I need to rework my goal for Sept 1.  =(

I'm so disappointed with the changes Fitbit is making this month!!  They are taking away our ability to track measurements, blood pressure, glucose, HR and journal.  I rely on measurement tracking to keep me motivated during plateaux.  If this pisses you off too please comment on their thread or their Facebook  I don't get how they can make these changes without asking their customers about it first.  There seem to be lots of ticked off people right now cancelling their Premium subscriptions and looking into Apple Watches. I'm thinking about it too, they are much prettier looking than my Fitbit Charge.
