hi folks,
just checking in as school is about to start!
I'm stuck (still) at 165. I have to remind myself that it's so much better than being stuck at 175! BUT, not hitting my goal.
Anyway, I've been doing TRX workouts to build strength, and working with a plant-strong menu that is filling and delicious. Do any of you follow "Plant Strong Trucker"? He is AMAZING. Look for him on facebook.
I enjoy reading all your encouraging words, and updates. I have to remind myself that if the scale goes up a couple pounds overnight, it isn't real. AND, if it goes down a couple pounds overnight, that isn't real either.
slow and steady. it's not even a race.

@mcfloozy Good for you for getting so strong. The TRX workouts are tough! And you are right, a tiny bit here or there is nothing if you are eating well, and being active and getting strong. Maybe it's muscle weight!?

@awood08 I hate to admit it, because I know how good I feel when I eat right, but I have fallen off my eating habits and have not been eating right 😞 Time to get back on track, thanks for the reminder!

@WordWhimsy It seems we all can do that at times (see my note on a whole package of awful cookies I didn't notice eating in the car) I believe it takes some time to get rid of all those awful habits and during the process, they sometimes sneak in when we aren't paying attention. So...back on track and learn from it. Was it stress? Better planning needed? If we keep solving the problems, we keep developing better and better habits.
You've got this.

Hi movin..welcome. We pick a goal for how much weight we will lose by Labor Day. And then we check in with how we are doing at least once weekly; many of us post more often. We post when we need support, encouragement, help, or congratulations for progress. You don't have much time until Labor Day, but you may choose 1 or 2 pounds anyway. We will be continuing, probably using the next holiday. If I ever reach my goal, I'd continue anyway to get help staying there.

Hey @Bobbinyc
LOL yes I think my brain fog is just lifting!
And apparently my little "plateau" is broken too! A friend of mine had me taste her protein shake at our yoga retreat and I ordered it online. For the last two weeks now I have been pretty much using that instead of a heavy breakfast since my stomach was so sensitive to anything else...
And this morning I was down to 225 lbs... woot woot
so... I guess I need a new goal for Labour Day - yet again LOL
Oh and I thought i'd post a pic... before and now (because I am not there yet, 40 lbs more to go!)
Mmhh actually the last pic shows how skinny my legs are now... but you get the "picture"...

When I started this challenge I didnt think I was able to get below the 230. And now I am actually looking at 225 and am thinking: hey... the 220s are in sight! Woot woot!
I can't believe how much has changed in the last few weeks. Physically, mentally.... I mean: I actually signed up to learn how to be a Yoga Teacher for bigger bodies and also for people who are living with Depression, Anxiety and PTSD. That means I will be practicing at least 5 hrs a week of yoga. YIKES!
8 months ago I would have called anyone crazy if they had just suggested it!
Well.... and now... the downward dogs are not as painful in my wrists anymore. I can actually do a plank and a pushup or two. Amazing - and I can't wait to see what the rest of the year brings. Which is probably the best of it all... for someone who is depressed, looking into the future is a BIG accomplishment. Bigger than any weight loss.

Hi Mermaid,
Try someone who is sometimes and depressed and sometimes feels happy and excited, too. More accurate description now.
Great new possibilities for you and why not?

Hi Bobbinyc,
Read about HIIT for metabolic increase. Start with 30 seconds of getting your heart rate up past normal cardio range then 2 minutes normal walking and repeat 2 more times. They say it revs up the metabolism for an hour after workout at least. Worth trying.
Best,
Barb G
I'm yo yoing again in the 138 range but dancing a lot.

Woke up this morning and hit my goal of 270.0
I'm pretty excited about that. Hit my goal a little over a week ahead of time. Maybe I can drop 2 more if I hustle and work extra hard.

@Mermaid3011Wow! There is no stopping you - no form of illness, no obstacles. You are right, there is no way to know how far you will go down these new roads you are travelling. Just keep it all healthy and the you will keep opening new doors for yourself.

Hi Barb - good to see you post again. I have been reading about HIIT and agree - absolutely will try it. A woman cardiologist I know, who was always an athletic looking runner, said when she went through menopause she had to go from 3 miles daily to 5 just to prevent weight increase. She said as you get older, you don't lose hormones in a steady rate, but rather have ongoing fluctuations throughout life and that effects weight, strength, endurance, etc.; and that changes in weight also effect hormonal changes and that isn't in a steady line either.
I believe that women's bodies are very responsive to the environment, weather, stress, relationships, food, emotions, etc etc. It's an organic flow. My weight didn't move at all the first couple of months, then dropped, and has stalled again almost a month. I know my situation is more extreme (thyroid off again too), but your weight stalled a little bit before you reached your last goal and then moved. So if it does that again, well, it will move again too.
Meanwhile, eat well, and dance with joy. What a wonderful gift you give yourself.

Here's a variation on the HIIT, that seems accessible to me. It's 10-20-30 workout.

Thanks for the nice supportive response. Seems like lots of things effect weight and appetite. Hope that you break through the plateau. Do you have a supplement with iodine in it for your thyroid. My sis ended up taking synthroid in a low dose since she would be exhausted and gain weight both. I think that she swings from low to a little too high, as in rapid bowel symptoms.
Hoping the thyroid level gets sorted out for you.
Dancing again tonight so better scoot and do paperwork, yuck, now.
All the best,
Barbara G
