This is my first challenge, I'm hoping a group like this will help keep me motivated. I've been working since May to start losing weight but all that's happened is a lot of fluctuating up and down (my boyfriend isn't the best influence, he loves fast food too much).

Almost the weekend...
I've recently started going to Parkrun on Saturday mornings right near where I live (4th time tomorrow). It's a 5k walk/run for all abilities & speeds, it's completely free &, in the UK at least, Fitbit is one of their sponsors... yay!
Does anyone else start their weekend with a Parkrun? I would recommend it if you like to run/jog/walk, it is a brill way to start the weekend, super friendly atmosphere & a great way get those extra steps in. Hoping this weekends exercise will help me loose a pound this 1st week.
Happy stepping

Good morning everyone! I am on the run... literally because I am late for my Yoga class! LOL!
But wanted to check in real quick and post my current results.
I have TOM visiting (that time of you know..) and didnt really expect a loss, so I am very happy that I went down at least a little.
Just like @awood08 I have ramped up the exercise. It's hard work, especially motivational hard work. But I believe it will help me in the long run! And that's what it is... a long run, walk and hike. 🙂

@saraj91 What an amazing option to go to a free walk and run meet! I am sure they have that here in Toronto as well, I just havent had a chance to look into it yet. Currently I am concentrating on my at home PiYo training and my Yoga classes at the studio since I am training to become a yoga teacher, so I need to get official "hours" there too.
With @awood08 I may start the C25k training next week, just because outdoor walking is pretty nasty in Toronto in the winter LOL
So.... we are following your foot steps, I am just a bit slower. LOL
Have a great day everybody!!!!

welcome!!! It's never too late to join our gathering here!
It's great to have you and what an awesome gift for grandparentsday! I didnt even know there was such a day, but of course!!! If they have mothers and fathersday.... it's only fair!
All the best for your journey! Working hard on our goals is unavoidable, but with the support of a peer group it'll be so much more motivating and fun!!! Promise!!
Best
Birgit

Welcome Jess!! I think it's only natural that we cave in and go for the "easy" junk food if we are surrounded by it or by people who do. Motivation and self control is so hard... I have been on an up and down last year. 3 lbs up and then down and back up again... very frustrating if you feel you are actually working hard and cutting yourself off so many things.
But the motivation through a peer group can really help!
It did for me at least. I joined a challenge group and decided "this is for my health". If I don't do this now, I'll be unhappy for the rest of my life! And suddenly the time was right, the people around me were "right", I wasnt tempted so much by sweets anymore .... I've lost 56 lbs in 8 months and while I had to put in the work I don't remember one day where I went to bed hungry or had to say no to social events.
You can do this! It's all about the right mindset and SUPPORT around you!! And we are here for the support!! 🙂
All the best
Birgit

Welcome @nyx425
That's so cool that you tried a new workout and ENJOYED it!!
I believe that's the key to longterm success. We need to find a program that works for US and that we LOVE!!
I never thought I would do an at home training by DVD/streaming. I was thinking "Jane Fonda in tights"... but things sure have changed since then LOL!! I am doing a PiYo workout plan for 60 days. It combines Pilates and Yoga and is so motivating and fun!! Who knew?!?
O.k. off to my Yoga class at the studio now!
Welcome and have a great day!
Birgit

Hey guys I don't know if I'm too late for this or not. I'm in nursing school right now and I have gained quite a bit of weight since starting last fall.

Feeling good this challange has motivated me to try to move more. Due to back injury with bad sciatica not able to be on feet/ sitting for long periods without lying down. However I had been working up to 30min walking once a day. I find that I can get my 30minute walk completed early in the day and lie down for a little bit and make mini trips while doing cleaning bursts. I will walk individual items to rooms one at a time to get in more steps instead of take multiples at once. Its not much but it adds up. Also after cooking dinner if I lie down for a 30minutes or so afterword I can manage 20-30minute walk before sciatiaca is terrible. Hoping to get more info to find out if it is going to require surgery to repair agian on the 25th. So hoping to get relief soon one way or the other with the sciatica so I can get back to work and move a little more without the pain. Good luck everyone I hope everyone is doing well so far.

This challenge is helping me to be accountable. For the last two days I've logged everything I have eaten, went bike riding and did my first Pure Barre class. I still do struggle with wanting to eat when I am not hungry, or wanting to eat stuff that is terrible for you, but so far I am making good choices.

@Mermaid3011 that is a great start to the challange. Congrats. I am hoping to have a monster week this week. I spent 1.5 hours at the gym the other day and I walked my longest distance in one single walk today, 4 miles. When i started this 4 months ago, I would get tired and winded when approaching the 1st mile.

Thanks! I'm still trying to figure out the fit bit and why it didn't log my steps on the treadmill today? I'll get it figured out. I really feel as if I can do it this time. And what and inspiration you are! halfway there! Can't wait to be where you are!

@keepnfaith did you rest your hands on the handlebars while walking on the treadmill?
