Looking for Weight Loss Buddies/Support!

ANSWERED

Hi I am new to Fitbit and the community. My dear husband got my my fitbit as a Christmas gift and am really excited about beginning this transformation into a new healthier lifestyle! I am 46 years old and after years of yoyo dieting and losing 100 lbs only to gain it all back, I had a major roadblock put up 5 years ago and have been stuck at 275 lbs since. I was diagnosed with several back issues, declared physically disabled by my doctors and was put on 360 percocet a month. In 2012, I moved to Ohio, weaned myself off all the meds my Texas drs had me on and thought I would just lose weight. I am physically active, but not quite enough yet to lose the amount of weight I need to lose. But I am determined to do this! On April 30 I will be in Washington DC participating in a 2 day 39 mile walk for breast cancer (a cause that is near and dear to my heart). So the time is now! No more excuses, no more laziness! Who's with me?

While I definitely want weight loss, I am not even going to do a base-line weigh-in until about a week after healthy eating. So far so good! Chicken, kale, barley soup and roasted squash for dinner. If still hungry in a bit, I will have an apple and maybe some almond butter. Do folks have some favorite go-to healthy delicious meals?

Good morning! How was everyone's day yesterday? Usually this time we are in a -20 to -30 degree Celsius "zone" weather wise but this year we are truly having an amazing winter...which is very welcomed by me as winter and I are not close friends.. AT ALL!! Yesterday was a beautiful -12 with the sun shining .. And no wind!! ( which is also truly amazing around here!!) This made it the perfect day to head out doors for a brisk walk!! Also had a great day nutrition wise! Just want to wish all of you a super Saturday 🙂

I would like to have a group that helps support one another.   I am a working mom and stay crazy busy and I have decided to take care of me this year.  I don't have time to attend weight watchers meetings etc so I thought this might be a great way to have some accountabiity.  I have lots of lbs to lose but I am ready!!  Would love to be a part of a group!  Happy New Year!

Although I prefer just coffee, I am making an effort to have something for breakfast.  Yesterday was Thai soup broth, and today a fruit, yogurt and spinach smoothie with a bit of almond butter. When I exercise in the morning I prefer my stomach to be empty and it is counter-intuitive to me to be having more meals when I am not able to exercise (I still have the flu). What are your experiences/preferences regarding "the most important meal of the day..."?

Hi @SunsetRunner it is just starting to feel like winter here on the east coast (the states), which I actually like. I love the seasons and winter is comforting then after a few weeks I beg for warmer days, ha! It was leg day for me so my appetite was higher than usual. Leg days exhaust me. But otherwise I had a wonderful day. How about the rest of you ladies? Oh and welcome @Summer16 and @frannie55!!!!!

Hmm, because I am a morning person I would say breakfast. I absolutely adore eggs, toast, and the sweeter concoctions. However, I guess overall it doesn't matter as long as you're eating at a deficit, whether that be intermittent fasting or 6 or so smaller meals. Like you I prefer a fasted workout, typically because I feel lighter and energetic and it minimizes the chances of me having to use the bathroom while I'm in the "zone". During the week I usually am at the gym by 5 so I eat breakfast around 8 or so with my children. I like to eat with them.because I'm less likely to pick at their food too...lol

I completely understand where you're coming from @fitkbj and I wish you a strong recovery!

I live in Perth, Australia. We are in the middle of a baking hot summer so my challenge is to beat the heat. I have two labradors that I walk early in the morning about 6 am and then its indoors to avoid the sun. I have a wii fit which is quite handy and a bit cheeky and I like to walk the airconditioned shopping malls. I am managing to do 5,000 per day easily enough and I am pushing myself to make 10,000 the norm. I have a dodgy knee at the moment so its a bit of a struggle.

Dance. Smile. Giggle. Marvel. TRUST. HOPE. LOVE. WISH. BELIEVE. Most of all, enjoy every moment of the journey, and appreciate where you are at this moment instead of focusing on how far you have to go.

Hey Move it! I just watched an episode of house hunters where the couple was looking for a home in a cave/mountain to avoid such heat. It was quite interesting and the homes were very economy friendly...pretty cool

Ridgecrest, ca. High desert, gateway to Death Valley. Pretty much middle of nowhere with cool winters (sometimes we get snow but only for a day) and hot, hot summers.

I live in Saskatchewan, Canada, in a small city of 15,000 just 18 miles from my home town of 500.  Tomorrow will mark the end of a wonderful 12 day "staycation".. Back to routine on Monday with work and back to my 5am workouts at the gym, which has been shamelessly neglected for wayyyy to long!! Really looking forward to getting back into the swing of things!

I live in Tulsa, Oklahoma...where it is 80º one day and snowing the next!  I just got back from our local running shoe store and had a "proper fitting" for some walking/running shoes.  Going to start a walking program I found on the internet.  My goal is to walk/run a 5K at somepoint...guess I should put some sort of time stamp on that goal...

Hi boys and girls,

I'm also on MFP (MyFitnessPal) which helps to keep me on target. I'll be hoping aboard a weight train back to Normal BMI. Just a few kgs to go.
