@Glenda

Welcome. I enjoyed your message.  So we are close in age. I teach Fitness for Seniors but now it is down to 3 hrs a week on Zoom.. So I walk with my binoculars & stop to visit the birds & most days I make my 7500 step goal. Well off to the walk it is 6;15 pm in Calif. & nice walking weather.

Stay strong,

Well I was so surprised to read that it was 97F and you were out walking in it. Just a couple of months ago you had snow up in CA.  Glad that you are back at it. I is hard for me at 150 lbs to be out in the heat like 97F I would look for shade and walk real slow. But you were glad that Walmart was cool. Hope that you get some 70's F weather soon. Have you heard when swimming pool will open up? In July?

Take care,

Barbara

@dancefoxtrot I certainly didn't intend to be out walking in that heat. The car broke down and I had no choice! Haha.

They had opened up the YMCA but didn't have group classes available. I would have been able to book a specific time for a pool lane to use, but I got another email from them saying the group classes are opening Monday but limited to 25 people. I don't think aquafit is a class I have to sign up for specifically so I just have to go early enough to be one of the 25. Thanks for reminding me! I will pack up my swim bag tomorrow and get up to go Monday morning. I REALLY need that pool.

It got to 104F (40C) yesterday so it was even worse. My AC was not keeping up but we survived. It got much cooler today but will be back up in 90s tomorrow. The garden is loving this heat!

It is strawberry season and today HEB has them for only $1 a pound.  You might enjoy  fresh strawberries washed and cut in half and then spread with melted Dolci Frutta Chocolate melting wafers which is an amazingly super great treat for low calories.  You buy the wafers in the produce department and 9 of them  are 80 calories.  I spread the melted chocolate on a berry and eat it right then not waiting for it to  harden.  I love the warm creamy chocolate.  I melt 9 and after I eat half of the berries on a plate I melt 9 more.  But that is only 160 calories for something really GREAT.  I confess I usually don't count calories on fruit and vegetables that are not very significant, but 8 strawberries are 45 calories.  You have lots more  calorie control with these little wafers than with stuff like "Magic shell".  Melt 9 wafers for 46 seconds in the microwave.

Hello,

@Glenda - that strawberry dish sounds great!

@_Lilac_  – Hope you are ok. I’m sorry to hear about your car. Good you were able to get to AC. Hopefully you will get to the pool soon.

@PCMagic  – What a plan in decreasing the calories.  I am decreasing my calorie intake, but will have to watch if I’m losing muscle. Have a great trip.

I actually make egg white omelets in a microwave omelet maker. First I thaw a frozen vegan or black bean burger if I’m having one, I then cut it up and pour in the egg whites and a little cheese. Because I eat this for breakfast and lunch, I know my calories. For dinner I sometimes do another omelet or white chili (which we make). My snacks are the same also, unsalted peanuts, and cheese stick or protein bar. If I have a spoonful of peanut butter – I take it and leave the kitchen. I love peanut butter. The only time I deviate is on the weekend, when my husband and I might grill. He has his own eating plan.  I do not add salt to anything.

I do take vitamins, I buy liquid gold vitamins.

@Cele21  ring fit sounds like fun. I might have to try this. I love the Mediterranean plan and eating clean plan.

Hope you stay motivated, focused and strong.

@Li_sa Have you tried the powdered peanut butter?  I'll bet it would surprise you.  you can mix some regular peanut butter with the powdered mixed kind.  It saves some calories.     I got started on peanut butter in recent years after buying some to use as bait in my Have-a-heart critter trap.  It was also suggested in my recently bought rat "death chamber"  which the package called a "trap" .  The instructions for that taught me that bait isn't supposed to be a Meal.  The rat trap just had a spot for a little dab!!!   LOL

Good morning everyone on this beautiful day, beginning our week.

I did pretty good this week. We did grill and had to control my calories, since I made a couple of dishes that was not part of my eating plan. I won't list them. lol

Good morning everyone!  I have decided to try a vegan diet for the next 30 days.  It has been easy for the last 3 days, but my husband is out of town!  When he returns, he loves his cheese and ice cream!  I have planted a nice garden this year, and it is such a pleasure to go outside and pick fresh greens for a smoothie in the morning!  I have also been taking my 2 golden retrievers for a 3 mile walk every day.  It is supposed to get up into the nineties today though, so better get going soon before it gets too hot!  I will weigh in tomorrow, which will be my 1 week mark.  Have a good day y'all!  Vamoose

I went to aquafit class on Monday and came home exhausted and didn't move for the rest of the day. Turned out to be super hot that day so I wouldn't have moved if I could have.

I missed my sign up for the class tomorrow, so I'll go Friday. There is a class at 6:15pm but it's supposed to be 90-100F (30-35C) and I'm NOT going out in that. I wouldn't make it there. I'm finding the heat is REALLY bothering me.

Good news is, I've lost some weight. I'm down 10lb since starting back at it. It's very slow compared to last time I took off a bunch, so I guess this is what menopause is doing to me. I still need to move more, and that's a work in progress. I'll get better.

Oh, @Li_sa I won't get badges for a long while. I've already lost 100 lbs in the past so this is just re-losing what's been gone and came back. I got my badges already.

Back to the pool again today. Wednesday is a holiday here so there's no aquafit class. I'll go back on Friday and find other things to do the other days this week.

I'm doing well saying no when people in my house are ordering pizza and burgers and sushi and other foods. Veggies, veggies, veggies. 5500 steps already today but with the increased activity I'm finding I need naps. So I'm going for one now!

I hope everyone is doing great this challenge! Only a few days left.

Hi, Everyone this is my first comment on the community page!!

I just started to work out about 5 weeks ago and hope the extra work pays off in getting me where I need to. My doctor is encouraging me to get healthier and says this is a slow process but let me tell you what these last few weeks have been slow and steady for sure.

Welcome @TheCemeteryMom2! - Interesting name - care to elaborate?

While there are only five days left to this challenge, I will be starting up another one right after.

Does anyone have a preference as to what the timeline for the next challenge should be? July 4th to September 7th (Fourth of July to Labor Day) for a longer challenge or should we pick a date in between for two shorter ones?

Quick update on me. Down another 4/10ths of a pound and 5 days to lose one more to meet my goal.

Really going to try to hit this one! I'm tired of going up again right at the end and want to start a new trend of meeting or beating these challenges!!!

@Cele21I restore tombstones and teach about it as a hobby hopefully a profession! I am also a mom of 2. I even have a blog about it and the work I do, plus a facebook page. Keeps me busy in the summer and sweating. So far the season has been slow with all the rain and such.

I'm game for what ever folks want to so. I'm here for the extra bump from like minded folks !! Gotta drop 133 pounds to get healthy.
