Being involved in a challenge helps keep me motivated and it seems like it works for others too. It also helps to have a goal and a deadline to get there. Let's all get healthier for ourselves and for our families. Let's do this for our kids, or our grandkids, or for our own mothers as well as for ourselves. Come join me and let's do this!

Just checking in for the week... The scale did not move but I was under my calorie goal every day, reached my step goal of 10,000 steps every day (one day was 16,603!!), and reached my active minutes goal of 20 minutes 6 of 7 days -- one day I am sure there must have been something wrong with my fitbit cause I really felt like it should have been at least 20 active mintues I will keep the active minutes at 20 again this week
I realized that I had forgotten to take measurements at the beginning of the month so I did this morning and was very pleasantly surprised to see that -- since Feb 1 -- I had lost 1.5 inches on my waist, 1 inch on my hips, and 0.5 inches on my thighs (my thighs are my "problem" area so that 1/2 inch is a real win!). Not losing a ton of weight but I am still shrinking Tried on my goal pants and could see the difference from the last time I tried them on a couple of weeks ago -- I will definitely be able to wear them this summer (yippee) Shelley, the fat/muscle picture (which is on my fridge) is VERY motivating -- keeps me on track when I start to get discouraged.
Still haven't started incorporating yoga but I "dusted" off the yoga studio app and found a couple beginner routines that I should be able to fit into my day (gosh they are only 15 minutes, I can't be THAT busy
Hope that everyone had a great week!
8 lbs lost, 12 to go

Hi all!!
I'd really love to join too, if I can. I'm training for my 1st 5K, at the end of May. My 20yo daughter and I will be doing it together. But, I really need to drop some weight. It seems so much harder to do, now that I am in my mid 40's.

Update since my post....the visual picture of the fat vs. muscle is amazing (and somewhat fantasic to contemplate!) Although no appreciable weight loss noted to date, I must say my clothing is much more loose, my lower abdomen smaller and my energy is amazing! I am in this challenge for the long haul....I have faith that my caloric, exercise and sleep goals are all going to get me to my desired weight. Thanks to those who provided me the cheerful responses!

I realize this was started back in January, but I would love to join this challenge! I have never been a part of a group to lose weight before and I think this would be nice! I think it would help to keep me honest.

would love to join this group. I have put on 11 pounds since Thanksgiving. I am so angry with myself. Prior to that I recently lost 36 pounds and kept it off for a year. Now I am back peddling. I got my fitbit in January, however, haven't lost a pound. Ready to get serious about getting this off. I am still down 60 pounds from my top weight, but like it a whole lot better when I was down 70. Would like to lose 30 pounds. I know I can do it, just have to push myself. Good luck to everyone and I hope this group will help me get back on track!

My scale is moving down...slowly (but I am not complaining). My cloths are getting more loose. Trying to get 10K steps in when I sit at a desk is very hard some days. I force myself to get up and move from my desk every chance that I can get, but rarely do I ever achieve over 3K steps while at work. I make up the difference on my treadmil at night. Rule-of-thumb, it takes me about 7-10 minutes per 1000 steps. Funny, I thought that I would sleep longer with more exercise, but it seems like I need less sleep for some odd reason.

Just over six weeks left to Mother's Day, but I am in.
My motivation isn't even Mother's Day. It's the day before. I have a one mile "Fun Run" that the kids and I are doing. Better get my butt in gear or my 7yr old will be leaving me in her dust.

Welcome all new folks! With only 6 weeks left, I am glad that most of you are lowering the expectations. I think 20 pounds in 6 weeks might not be so good for one's health and this challenge is about getting healthy for our loved ones and ourselves. So please participate with us and set do-able healthy goals. If you have been losing for a while, it seems like the speed of loss slows down for many of us including me. If you are just getting started, you might lose it faster. I got the Fitbit last September and lost 30 pounds in three months following a plant based diet and walking one hour a day. This second three months I have only lost 10. I am still eating the same for the most part and my exercise has been slightly less but still getting at least 10K or more on most days. I am lowering my expectations now and will be happy if I can get 6 more off by Mother's day. I really wanted to have lost 20 but will take all I can get. Like some of the others, my clothes are getting looser since starting the challenge. Right before Christmas, I bought a new pair of PJs as I had gone from a 2X to a Large. The bottoms were slightly tight across the hips but still wearable. I had them on last night and noticed that they were no longer stretched across my bottom and instead were a tad baggy. I also have some goal pants that I am still hoping to fit in by Mother's Day. If I can fit in those, that will really make my day! I love reading everyone's posts, so keep up the good work.

No, I've no intention of trying to lose 20 lbs in six weeks. I'm looking more at losing six in six. I just liked that your goal date coincided with my own.
Congrats on the newly baggy pants. That is always a good feeling.

I don't think I can lose 30 in 2 months. Just looking for motivation to get moving toward the 30. I will do it before this YEAR is over. Hope to lose at least 10 by Mother's Day! : )

Ok, so after the scale not moving for over 10 days it seems to be on a downward trend again! Thank goodness!!
I've increased my protein intake and that seems to be making a difference. Does anyone have any suggestions on low cal protein options? I really don't like beans so if I can stay away from them that would make me happy:)
