@IdahoSandyYou are really impressive. I hope one day to be able to report similar success. After not attending (but paying for my gym membership for the past year), I finally got my act together. I went five times last week and started off this week by attending today.

How much of your weight loss do you attribute to working out? I'm participating in a 12-week study where I was randomly assigned to the exercise group. I'm so happy that was the group I ended up in, because that's what I wanted to do.

I'm looking forward to following your progress.

Hey everyone. My husband bought my fit bit for me the first part of december. I love it!!!!  I still have a lot to learn about it, but I will as I go I guess.

okay, eff this weigh-in. I know, I know it's all supposed to be water retention from my healing muscles, and maybe a little muscle too, but it's still a huge bummer when I have a really incredible week of exercising and this is the result. I hiked 6 days last week, including one amazing 12.9 mile hike that got me so high I saw snow, plus two spin classes, one of which I ranked #1 in the class. And this is the result:

USW - 217.8

SW - 217.8

CW - 219.2

PW - 213.8

GW - 204

UGW- 192.

SCREW THAT.

@erinwdesign I'm so "glad" to read your post. I mentioned earlier that I am
participating in a 12-week study on weight loss and exercise. I've been
"really compliant" for the past 10 days. I, too, cannot report a weight
loss, but I know from past experience that it will come. Plus, I definitely
feel much better about myself. It's a good antidote to depression. I'm going
to watch your progress and predict in 12 weeks we'll both be able to report
weight loss. And thanks for reminding me that exercise can result in the
muscles retraining more water. I forgot about that. You made me feel better.

Joining AGAIN, hopefully for the last time!  My weight has fluctuated in 2016 (+6 lbs) and then in 2017 (+11 lbs).  I need to figure out how to stay under 135.  The problem is I like to eat and I am a constant snacker.  I am slowly learning.  Portion control and manage grazing!!!

@erinwdesign  I hate, hate, hate that!  That stupid scale can be so discouraging.  Do you take measurements, or check body fat?  Are your clothes fitting better?  At the least the fact that you can do all these intense workouts after coming back from pancreatitis is amazing.  I’m guilty of getting into negative self talk when the scale doesn’t move.  Don’t!  You’re doing fantastic.  Take a day off, seriously.  I’ll take a day of active rest when I’m discouraged, maybe just a moderate walk and a nice stretching video, or relax a bit on the food, not a cheat day, I stay within my calories, but chill a bit on the macros.  I also ( gasp ) skip my weigh in for a day.  Then I come back full tilt the next day, I find my body catches up to where my head thinks it should be shortly after that!

@Coracora  Thanks for the wisdom. I may take advantage of it today.

@Coracora my scale takes fat measurements, but frankly they are not reliable enough to track from day to day, they're better for broader trends. It does fat%/water%/muscle%... and they add up to over 100%, usually between 105% and 110%! So that says that I've gained 2% muscle, and also gained 0.5% fat, but doesn't show me losing any water weight to compensate. So all that tells me is that this is a change that the scale doesn't quite know how to measure right now.

I just got a fitbit and I am totally digging all the data. I'm also in the #250kchallenge2018, looking to lose a little weight a long the way. I am working on building up my metabolism, so maintaining weight eating more calories is the goal!

Ok - down 1 pound.  Although I will admit I had just returned from a 9.5 mile hike, had no lunch, and might have been just a LITTLE dehydrated.  Now I need to stay focused on what I eat and not relax like I sometimes do when I have a weight loss.

On to next week!

We can do this everyone!

I haven't checked in for a few days. My scale doesn't change in this plateau so sometimes I feel that there isn't much to report, but there is. My sister invited me to a work week challenge last week so I got in more steps than I had for a few weeks. Then over the weekend I went over my 10,000 step daily goal. I've been struck by a whole lot of seizures over the last few days and it wears me out! I might take today off to rest. 6 seizures Monday, 8-9 yesterday and so far today I've had 7 and it's early afternoon. Phew. I've called in to the doctors but haven't heard anything yet.

I had a bit of chinese food last night and now all I smell and crave is that crap. The aroma of sesame oil is throughout my house, my skin, etc. It's probably just psychological but it's driving me mad. The preservatives, salt, sugar, are so addictive and cause cravings. I need to stay away. I'll put on a big pot of tea and drink extra water and some healthy food today to combat it.

Ok, everyone have a great day. Move, sweat, drink water, have fun and laugh.

I want to join in too.   I usually weigh in on Sunday or Monday, so I just put in Monday's weight.  The first week of Jan. I went a bit off plan and that stopped me from losing.  I got back on track last week and managed to drop 5 lbs.  This week I have been sticking to my plans & focusing on reaching my goals.  I know I can do this.

Wow, I didn't expect this, I lost 3.1 lbs this week. I have been exercising a lot, though I know sometimes you'll have a great week and next week (or 2) won't drop a pound. Oh well, I'm happy for this week! I've also started doing more weights which I think is helping a lot as well.

Hope this is a good week for the rest of you as well.

I did 7000 steps doing laps at the mall this morning by 9:00am and now my knee is hurting. This is exactly what happened last winter when I walked at the mall...knee injury. So, I have to figure out other ways to exercise. I think I will continue my membership at the YMCA afterall and try to cut costs in other ways. I have a breakfast at my mother's place tomorrow with my two sisters. Then we are going to go wander around some galleries. Then we have a paint night in the evening.

I heard from the specialist and I need to go for more brain tests within the next few weeks. Then they will want to implant electrodes in my brain to pinpoint the exact spot my seizures originate, and then eventually do surgery. So scary. I've been given the go-ahead to get off that medication that was causing me to get angry and annoyed so easily and my heart to race and me to sweat and get out of breath while exercising. I was worried I might be having dangerous side effects.

I'll check in again in a day or so. I hope everyone is doing well and had a successful week.
