LOL a phobia about not enough steps. Do the muscle building as you will burn more cals with more muscle. Also switch the phobia to fear of all you can eat places as they encourage stuffing yourself with 2 lunches instead of one! Gluttoniphobia we can call it.
Huge progress in a short time.

Hey Ballthree, re: phobia name, we could try "aperipatophobia." I've got it too!
Have a great Friday, everybody -- keep walking.

Little frustrating this week, been kicking my butt at the gym and eating very good and the scale is at a standstill. I do notice a major difference in my stomach and arms so I can't complain. I'm pretty sad they switched up the schedule at the gym and dropped my favorite class from an hour to 30 mins. I'm hoping I'm having another one of those weeks I've had many times where my weight stalls for a week or two and then drops 2 or more pounds. Either way I've accomplished alot and I'm proud regardless of the scale number just by how great I feel.
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I like aperipatophobia 🙂 One could also say peripatophilia (love of walking) but it has a creepy ring to it.
I offer 'ambulophilia timor grunnitus'....love of walking with fear of grunting 😄

Ok... checking in for the first time in a bit. I took the plunge yesterday and joined a gym - haven't started using the equipment yet since I have no idea where to start on that stuff! I've never been a gym member before & never used gym equipment before, so steep learning curve ahead! And the sad thing is I probably won't go much during the spring/summer/fall since I get plenty of workout in my 5.25 acre yard!
USW- Ultimate Starting Weight (2015) = 204
CSW- Current Starting Weight (Jan 1 2016) = 194
GW- Goal Weight (by Feb 14, 2016) = 185
UGW- Ultimate Goal Weight (by Christmas 2016) = 160
PW- Previous Weight (last check in) = 190
CW- Current Weight (as of yesterday & this morning) = 189
YAY!!! I broke into the 180's... been a struggle to get below 190. Hopefully my body will do what it has in the past & drop the next 10 moderately easy...

Checking in a day early because I've got a busy weekend planned and I don't know when I would get a chance to post. I gave in and subscribed to Daily Burn - the first 30 days are free, so I figured that if I didn't like the workouts I can just quit before they charge my card. And if I do like the workouts, it's only 12.95 a month and I'm more likely to do the workouts from my home than go to a gym. 🙂 I started their True Beginner program and it is harder than I thought it would be. I'm only 3 days in, but I'm sore all over. I've also been trying to do the elliptical for at least 5 minutes every day and I've succeeded at that too! I'm almost to my goal weight, but at this point I'm not going to change it since I've been stuck at the 175 mark for a while. I'm not sure how I lost 3lbs in a week, but I'm not complaining! 🙂
USW: April 2015 - 185lbs
CSW: 1/21/16 - 178.3lbs
CW: 1/29/16 - 175.1 lbs
GW: 2/14/16 - 174lbs
UGW: 120-125lbs

@kmme That is fantastic! It feels so good to break through into the next lower number, doesnt it? I've been stuck in the low 140s and I think that is my body's set point. The last time I had gained weight and lost, I got to this same weight and went back up. May I ask what is your method for weight loss? I started really trying hard to lost weight in March 2015. I was 163 then. And it took me alllll of this time to get to the low 140s. I see you lost about 45 pounds in only 6 months. That is sooo awesome! How did you do it?

@swimr12265 8.6 pounds in a mere month?! WOW! That is impressive! Way to go, girl! I wish I had that much success. Can I get some of your willpower and discipline? lol.

Good afternoon, everyone! I didn't manage to check in on Wednesday so doing it now.
CSW: 144 lbs
1/6/16: 143.4
1/13/16: 142.8
1/20/16: 141.8
1/27/16: 144 **gasp**
I had a very social week and ate out way too much. And again my sweet tooth went nuts and I ate too much candy. I had to stash all of my candy down in our storage unit so I could stop binging. Not a good week for me. BUT, I peeked at my weight today and it was 139.6 pounds. Now I burned 1000 calories last night with back-to-back cycling classes so I know this is just the result of some wacky water fluctuation. But I have never ever seen the scale read below 141 in my adult life so it was nice to see, if only for a moment. I've managed to bike over 150 miles in 15 days so I'm happy with that. I'm kicking myself because if I had any self control, I would probably really be in the 130s. But nope. I ate back all of my calories (and then some on a few days). Oy. Ah well. Gotta keep on truckin'! I booked a trip to Miami for my birthday in a few weeks so that is my motivation right now 🙂

Hey, awood8,
Sorry about your favorite class and stalled scale but congrats on working out hard and eating well -- and the major difference in your stomach and arms! What's even better is to read that you're spirit remains indominatable! I send a little prayer for the big drop you deserve.
Have a good one.

Thanks for the congrats 🙂 yes down 46lbs is amazing ( act from my highest ever about a year ago i am down 68 lbs which is crazy to me i can't believe i ever got so out of control ) My bmi is in the healthy zone , it has been for awhile as i am 5'6 so i think my bmi currently is 20.7 but i am just not happy yet . Don't get me wrong i am way better than i was. I can go down as low as 115 before i am in the under weight category , that is why my final goal weight is kind of undecided. I am thinking i might look ok at 120 at this point but time will tell i guess:)
Hope you are doing well too

Thank you , i actually lost a great deal of the weight by going low carb ( i was a big /atkins follower as a teen ) , getting into ketosis and eating no carbs is something my body loves and i lose a lot of weight on it. As i get lower though even that is a struggle. I do admit i work out a lot. Probably 3-4 hours a day assorted work outs , i get a minimum of 2 hours. ( please don't think i am advising anyone to do this as i know sometimes i get over zealous) I think i unfortunately am an all or nothing kind of person. It took me a few years to decide to lose the weight and once i did there is no going back. I allow myself no cheat days ever . i know if i cheat i will not stop at one day , that's just how i am.
I agree about a set point , mine was 153 , that's a weight my body likes and i have been at for years at a time so it was a major struggle and now my body wants to fight me every 5 or 6 pounds....lol .
Keep on working is all i can say. I would say the last 15 pounds or so have taken me about 4 months to lose, it really is basic math if you continue to eat at a deficit your body has to lose the weight. Sometimes the water and flucuations just mask that loss for a bit. The biggest thing is don't let the set backs get to you ( i know easier said then done. )
Wow , sorry for the long drawn out reply , who knew i had so much to say:) Keep at it though . I know you will get there:)

Finally back home from a four week business trip. Having no scale, not even a hotel scale, was frustrating, but now I can finally post my updated numbers:
USW 9/26/15 213
CW 1/30/16 180 Was on 12/31/15 187
CGW 2/14/16 175
UGW 150 (and then we'll see about a new UGW)
I was hoping for a little better but after nearly 4 weeks on the road and having to be careful not to eat out at too many restaurants, this is a lot better than I used to do on the road.

Samalama17,
Stop kicking yourself -- please, my angel. You had an awesome week measured by your actions. It seems your cycling balanced your socializing. You probably enjoyed the time and the meals with family and/or friends and now you're doing what you need to do to stay on track. You deserve praising, not bruising.
One of things I think all of us challenge buddies are learning to do is integrate the joys of life, which include feasting with those we love, into the habits of healthy discipline. Each makes the other happily possible. So you're an example for all of us this week.
DianeNYC
P.S. I think you'll see 130 sooner than you think.

Hey Guys,
Here are my stats for the week:
USW 184
CSW 171.2
PW 168.2
CW 167.4
GW 167
UGW 164 (subject to downward revision)
Still doing low carb and liking it. The snow is melting, so I think I can get back into walking above 10,000 steps again. This week I am committing to: restricting carbs and staying within my calorie count; been eating cheese after dinner and I'm committing to cutting that out; drinking at least 6-7 glasses of water a day; walking above 10,000 steps a day and stretching at least 3x this week.
Hope everyone is well,
DianeNYC
