Welcome to the New Year Everyone! This will start January 1, 2016 officially 🙂
If you have seen the posts before this is a challenge that everyone is invited to join to set your own personal weight loss goal for the next 6 weeks. This is all about having a great support system and most importantly feeling great and happy and healthy about yourself. Don't worry if you have bad weeks because we all go through it.
To join the challenge all you need to do is post your weight stats & check in as often as you'd like with an update or just to share a story from your week. This group has some huge inspiration in it and people that give wonderful advice.
Looking forward to catching up with all our friends from the other challenges and anyone who is new!
Thanks @saraj91 for starting up the last challenge!
A little rundown of terminology for anyone who is new 🙂

Saraj91,
Wow! That's great!! 50 lbs is a lot to lose. I'm hoping to lose around that amount but it's very slow-going for me. I'm 52 and the weight certainly doesn't come off like it used to. Much harder now.
It's good to see success stories from people here - it keeps me motivated. Keep going!!

Hey Guys,
Checking in after a rough, carb-filled, tummy churning week. First, here are my numbers:
USW 184
CSW 170.2
CW 171.4
GW 167
UGW 164 (subject to downward revision)
Okay, so this was actually worse on Thursday when I weighed in at 173.4. So glad I got on the scale because it made me review what I had been eating: toast, corned beef hash, english muffin, pizza, chapati, basmati rice (I really like Indian food but it's a carbohydrate "waistland") . . . you get the picture.
Part of this is due to the dreaded stomach bug many of us have been suffering. Part though I think is due to a pattern I fall into at this time of the year. School is stressful, the kids are nuts, winter is wearing and I want comfort food -- dinner is my most vulnerable time. Aaah, I can relax. Now what do I want? If I'm not careful, my willpower goes out the window. AND I WAS NOT CAREFUL THIS WEEK.
There, I said it.
Here's the upside -- Having set a goal of 13,000 steps per day during the fall 10,000 steps became my slacking off number, so I continued to walk and climb stairs, purely out of habit. Ditto with logging my food and checking in here. Makes it easier to trace the cause of any weight gain and take corrective action.
This week I am committing to: stretching (I'm getting leg cramps probably from doing stairs without stretching out at least once a day); cutting carbs and returning to a container of plain, nonfat, greek yogurt for breakfast; getting groceries in the house and taking my lunch to work again. And reminding myself daily:
"It's not what you did, it's what you do next."
And that's all she wrote.
Have a great week everybody.

@dianenyc - Hang in there my friend! I love your quote "It's not what you did, it's what you do next." So true!!! I'm struggling too. Couple good days, couple bad days. I'm ok with that, because for me, this time it's about lifestyle change. If it takes a while to lose this weight, it's ok, because eating healthy has got to lifetime commitment.

Hey everyone. I'm really bad at checking in. Figured I'd give a late update for this past week.
CSW: 144 lbs
1/6/16: 143.4
1/13/16: 142.8
I was down to 140 yesterday but then back up to 142 today, lol. Man I hate the scale! I will weigh-in and update again on Wednesday. This past week I took back-to-back cycling classes 2 days in a row so I burned mega calories and I did not eat them all back. I'm hoping Wednesday's weigh-in treats me nicely. I really, really, really want to see 139 this month and I have more back-to-back cycling classes scheduled to help get me there.
Everyone is doing a fantastic job. Keep it up!

5 pounds in 6 months is great! You lost it; you didn't find it. You should be proud of yourself! I'm proud of you, and I don't even know you (yet?). Keep up the good (yes, it is!) work!!

Hi All,
I am new to this Discussion Group but have spent the better part of three hours (no, I'm not at all OC...lol) reading all of the posts so that I am up to speed. I got my first fitbit at the end of 2014 and joined my first challenge in July (I think). I was then at a lifetime (not counting pregnancy) high weight of 144#. I was desperate and told myself when I got back under 140, I would never see 140 on a scale that I was standing on again. Well, around the beginning of this year my weight was back up to 143! I am disgusted with myself and am recommitting myself to the promise I made to myself. Here are my stats. (PS I will also be visiting the Activity Group page. My plan is to always weigh in on Mondays there and to post to this Discussion Group as often as I can. I am really touched and motivated by some of your journeys...especially Sara91, Helen, dianenyc, and a few more. You will be hearing from me as I invite several of you (please, invite me, also, if you like the challenges that fitbit offers) to join me. I have been trying to lose the same 15-25 pounds for years, and I am more determined than ever that I do it finally in 2016). If I get some of the acronyms wrong, I'll correct them in future posts...
USW 144 (July 2015)
SW 143 (January 1, 2016)
CSW 138 (January 15)
CGW 130 (February 14)
UGW 115 (ASAP...but certainly by summer and swimsuit season--although all seasons are "swimsuit season" for me since I'm a swimmer..lol!!)

Oops,
My PW (I'm not sure how this is different from USW but if this means my past weight that I was happy with as an adult??) was 123 or 119.
My CW I won't know until Monday. I will not stand on the scale until Monday morning (I always weigh first thing for what I hope is my true weight of the day).

Hey Samalama -- I had a similar week. Don't let it mess with your head. I'm amazed at how quickly that pound or two I put on comes off if I get back on track or in your case back on the bike. I won't be surprised if you have a great weigh in this week. I'll be looking for your post!

Hey Swimr --
Welcome! This is such a good group of people -- really kind and everybody cheers when you get good results. Don't be so hard on yourself about the weight. Hard experience has taught me that being too hard on myself is like pulling a rubber band back -- eventually it snaps forward with a lot of force. So relax a bit. Go easy on yourself -- and just keep going. I too have been losing and regaining the same 15-25 pounds for about four years now. But this time seems different. HelenK made a good point today about this being more about a lifestyle change than weight loss. I think she's right.
Anyway, welcome and keep coming back.
