I just got my fitbit on today.
I picked sedentary lifestyle and it says to lose 2lbs per week for my age/height/weight i can only eat 915 cal/day. This cant be right - can it? I thought 1200 calories per day was the minimum to avoid starvation?
If that is true - it seems like bad advice.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

Who or what is saying to only eat 915 calories?
You tell the FitBit dashboard what your goals are, so you can keep track of them.
Several places online with good diet information to help you get started.
Which FitBit did you get?

Hey James,
These are just suggested numbers, they also may take into account estimations on activties since you dont have any inputted yet. One thing you need to remember even if it says you can eat 915 cal/day that would be without any exercise, you can eat back (eat the same amount of calories burned). So if you sepnd an hours of your day walking around it will add those calories.
Hope this helps, and keep fitbiting!

I would eat at least 1200 calories a day and see what happens. Remember to get your "burn" up - it will work - trust me. I just recently lost 40 pounds and could never lose before!

Its the food plan. I set my goals and current info. Without any data from the device or any food info from myfitness pal, it gave me a max of 915 calories.
of course if i exercise, i can eat more - but what if i dont (exercise)? i already claimed a sedentary lifestyle - My fitnesspal with the same info gives 1360 calories per day. One of them is wrong. 🙂
Its a fitbit flex

James, I did some reading. You just got your Flex, so it needs time to get to know you. It learns how you burn calories by your movements, so you might need to wait a bit and see what happens.
These are the articles I read.
