Newly Fitbitters

Hello fellow fitbitters,

I was lucky enough to get a fitbit from Santa this year. I have already lost 10 pounds this month on my journey to lose weight. I have about 35 more pounds to go! I would love to have some active friends that would like to keep each other accountable. Just add me as a friend and let's get working on our goals to a healthy body!

sk_0615 thank you!!!!!!
This is hard, and it's little things like what your doing by talking to me and telling me that you can do this and have a treat once in a while as long as you make up for it the day after.
I am going to have an amazing night with my boyfriend have some pad Thai and a few glasses.
I hope you have somebody to spend your new year with, have a wonderful night and cheers to many more motivational talks.
All the best and a happy new year to everybody else

hi there 🙂

I got my FB on Boxing Day on sale 🙂 i have been wearing it faithfully and trying to get use to all the features 🙂  the hardest thing for me is wrapping my head around the calories burnt...it seems so high when i haven't done any major physical activity...my major goal is to get my steps up every day...i set my goal for 5000...im a quarter of the way there so far today 🙂

I would LOVE to make some new friends and get a support system going.

I'm getting married in August 2015 and I want to look fantastic in my dress...along with feeling healthier

I'm fun and love "meeting" new people 🙂 friend me if you want 🙂

Don't be so hard on yourself you are not a failure we all have times of ups and downs it is the holidays and the holidays are the hardest I'll admit I have DONE crappy this month compared to how I had been doing. But the great thing is you took ownership of your struggles 🙂 each day is new with a fresh start! Your water intake is up which is great I find that the hardest thing good job on that. You gotta just keep going and keep pushing your lot stronger than you give yourself credit for I think we all are. You have to remember you are allowed to be human being healthier doesn't mean you have to stop living just watch portion control 🙂 have that glass of wine and enjoy your dinner just be cautious of what you eat get it grilled instead of deep fried get dressing on the side instead of it being soaked on top😄 keep your head up and remember you control the food it does not control you 😄🌹

Hi, I would love to give and get encouragement.  I'm afraid I will start this and not follow thru.  I would love to lose 30 pounds.  I'm 48 years old and up until the last 4 years my weight hovered around 150 and I was a size 8 or 10...but I can't believe that I now weigh 180 pounds.  I wear a size 12 and choose large size clothes to be comfortable but this has GOT TO STOP.  I am athletic and have always done some sort of excercise on and off.  Hoping this fit bit will inspire me to move more and slowly take off the 30 pounds.

How did you lose the first 10 pounds?  Is your goal 10,000 steps?

Hi all! I know I've been pretty positive but today beat me down. Just so tired from all the traveling and seeing family for two straight weeks and I just struggled through today. Started great, but ended on a sour note. Ugh. Hopefully things will be better tomorrow.

I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC New Year! Enjoy watching the ball drop (or whatever it is you do at midnight- I'll personally be watching the Disney World Fireworks live on their blog!)

Just a question really - how does everyone feel about having their photograph taken?  I had a great new years eve, but someone put a photo of me up on Facebook, and it's really spoiled my day.  I don't want to look at myself at the best of times, I feel like everyone will judge me.  I know it's irrational and I don't think anyone really understands the effect it has on me.  Anyone else feel like this.  Sorry if this is wrong place,  it's about self-image which I think weightloss will cure.... 😞

I can see how a photo can upset someone. I see myself in photos all the time and think oh my goodness I look fat. The thing is use that photo as motivation! Say I will not let myself look like this ever again and make a change. One thing about self image is that you shouldn't count on weightloss to make you feel better about yourself. Trust me I know plenty of people who get down to their weight goal and still see the fat girl in the mirror! Not only do we need to change our physical body but also our mental body!

Excellent advice!   I'm surprised what you said about looking at your picture, though.  When I saw your profile pic, I thought you looked really young and thin.  I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.  But I agree with using it for motivation.  I've done the same thing!

I just picked one up today.  Cannot wait to get started.  I have 59 lbs to lose. I definately will need the motivation to keep going.  Calories will be higher today than it will be tomorrow as i have already gone over, but that is fine.  I will do it and keep it off this time!!!!

Hi Maggie,

I'm the same age as you and have gained weight over the past few years, i've managed to lose it a few times, but once I become tired and overloaded I have just piled it back on. I have always been sporty, I'm hoping my FB will help me adopt and maintain many healthy habits!!

Great Idea Morgan-Anne! I'm working to get into better condition and tweak my diet again - it sounds like there are some good ideas already coming out of this forum. Let's do this thing! I'll set a New Year's goal of 25 lbs (I'd prefer to go by body fat % though as I want to see an increase in muscle mass and a decrease in body fat more than weight reduction alone).

Thanks everyone,  It's good to share, feel loads better now, - tarnished was a good word to describe how it felt, thanks Tabby - the good thing is people on here  understood and don't come out with well intentioned platitudes. Smiley Happy  Tomorrow's another day xxxx

One of the only recent pictures of my brothers and I was when I had gained too much weight.  Three of them were in really good shape, but I was not.  It's a picture I love because of all five of us being together, which is rare.  I felt like I stood out like a sore thumb.  I used it as motivation.  I feel your pain, though.

I recommend reading www.bodybuilding.com if you want to increase muscle mass and decrease fat.
