Hi all. I have a fat loss goal of 97 pounds. (insert sounds of sobbing and head banging off keyboard). I've been "trying" to lose that weight for so long now I've about given up.
Seven years ago I went on the jenny diet (will never make THAT mistake again) which resulted, after 18 months, in a loss of 58 pounds. I was never so hungry in my whole life and TIRED! I had NO energy at all. I fought for the last 5 years to keep it off but it has almost all crept back on. Then I got my Flex.
For xmas hubby gave me the Aria so between the two I now have to face facts. Sitting on my backside is what's keeping the weight slowly creeping upwards.
I've started back at my local gym on the treadmill. I still haven't reached 10,000 steps in one day yet. The highest I've managed has been about 7500. My daily average when I don't do much is about 2800. So there's a slight improvement.
I also started tracking my food intake on my dashboard. That was a revelation when coupled with how much energy I'd burned during the day. It's one thing to "know" that calories and movement determine your weight. It's a whole other thing to actually see the numbers. Can't hide from THAT truth.
Anyway. I have set my goals and am aiming for 2 pounds fat loss a week. Anyone care to join me?

We need to look at this as we are making better food choices not a diet. Diet is a four letter word that implies failure, we are not on a diet, we are changing our lives.

Hi Zelda. Love quinoa but I'm trying to only eat the lowest calorie carbs. Tofu and veggies and little else in order to loose weight. I'm 58 and my metabolism is not what it used to be. This will be my first new year's eve that I will not be going out for chinese food!

BrandyB if you can quit smoking you can do anything...it's all attitude, not treadmill is just an bump in the road, change that thought....the wii is a great alternative....it doesn't matter what you do it is just that you do it.

Its nice to have someone to help motivate you...I walk almost everyday with a friend of mine from work so that we can get "our steps" for work.
I'd like to lose 20 lbs or so and would love to join this group if I can figure out how to get back to it.:)
I've walked 14,249 steps so far this morning..

DianaLea, That's the Zumba class talking. I'm sure the rest of the day will go a little slower.

I'm in! I would love to have some friendly motivation. I need it! I am 53 , daughter is grown, husband and I both need to lose weight. My goal for 2014 is 90 lbs. gone. I have tried most of the diets and fads, none worked for very long. Doctors say my diet is not that bad, they had me keep a food journal for months. My problem is lack of activity! I have been sitting at a desk job for 35 years and the weight has slowly crept up. I have a treadmill, the Wi, Zumba and lots of other fitness dvds - just have to get in routine to use them. I welcome new friends and will try to help keep you motivated too.
I just got my FitBit Force and just became a member here tonight. 🙂

I am also trying to lose by logging food and exercise to both Lose it and Fitbit. Love them both. I would like to join in your journey. My goal is less, but the challenge to make healthy eating choices and finding activities that burn calories and are still fun is not easy. I used to work out with two other 50ish ladies and the motivation was a blessing.
